KNJ's new job was a hint that he would choose not to reincarnate with Hae Suk after seeing how past lives affect…
Yes, something like a "bug", where the erasing didn't work. But the writers should have explained that, not left us to wonder and give explanations of our own.
Social drinking in Korea Almost all countries have social drinking. But in Korea, according to studies and statistics, there is this toxic drinking culture, where alcohol is a must for socializing, for bonding with co-workers, for assessing a son-in-law, for bragging rights and male competition between rivals - and everything else. This happens in other countries too, but not at this point! And it won't cost you your job or a promotion if you don't drink, you won't be considered a traitor and a criminal, a coward, unmanly or a weirdo. People may laugh at you a bit, but you can still survive. Many foreigners who have been in Korea for work constantly complain about this situation. And, mind you, those people are not teetotallers, they do drink, only not at this excessive point.
Liver disease is one of the top killers in Korea According to statistics, the leading cause of death in Korea was cancer. Liver cancer and other liver disease were among the top 10 causes of death in Korea. An increasing number of Koreans are also being diagnosed with osteonecrosis, with the leading cause being excessive alcohol consumption. In Korea, when drinking 2 or more glasses of Soju per day, for males, and at least 1 glass of Soju per day, for females, the incidence of liver cancer increased by 1.4 times, and the mortality rate related to liver disease increased by 3.2 times as compared to those who drank less or never
How much do Koreans drink? According to a 2018 WHO report, citizens of the Republic of Korea drink 10 litres (2.2 imp gal; 2.6 US gal) of alcohol per capita per year. The “bottoms-up” approach to drinking ("one shot") translates to drinking one-shot at a time rather than drinking a little sip each time. Studies have shown that the proportion of drinkers among the total adult subjects is 74.8%. The drinking rate of total adult males is 84%, with 87.6% for men aged ≤65 years and 64.9% for men aged >65 years. The drinking rate among female drinkers was 65.8%. The proportion of drinkers among adult females ≤65 years was 73.7%, while that of adult females >65 years was 34.4%. So yeah, the younger generation tends to drink a bit less. in 2016, the average volume of alcohol consumption by Koreans aged 15 years and older was 10.2 L per capita, which was higher than the mean volumes consumed by these age groups in the world overall (6.4 L), the WHO Western Pacific Region (7.3 L), and the United States (9.8 L).
It's not the top country worldwide, though: The top countries in the world with the high rate of alcohol use disorder in males: Russia (16.29%) Hungary (15.29%) Lithuania (13.35%) South Korea (13.10%) Latvia (11.54%) Belarus (11.43%) Estonia (11.09%) Niue (10.58%) Colombia (10.33%) Thailand (10.18%) (Females have much lower rates in all countries!) These countries also reported the highest levels of alcohol use disorders. The global status also included the leading alcohol-related conditions such as mental health disorders, fetal alcohol syndrome, liver cirrhosis, premature death, and transmission of infectious diseases.
HOWEVER... less is more: East Asians have low tolerance of alcohol because they lack a certain enzyme that metabolizes alcohol. Thus they become drunk on lower quantities. Their alcohol metabolism capabilities can be predicted by presence of the characteristic facial flushing response we often see in dramas. . About 1/3 of the total population has facial flushing when drinking spirits.
Females get drunk more easily Approximately 20% of the consumed alcohol is metabolized in the gastric mucosa by the enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) before being absorbed into the bloodstream. When ADH activity in the gastric mucosa is reduced, more alcohol is absorbed into the blood. In general, females have approximately HALF the level of ADH activity in the gastric mucosa as males. Consequently, they are less able to process consumed alcohol. Additionally, females typically have more body fat and less body water than males of the same body weight. Alcohol has low lipid solubility, and is mainly distributed in the body water. Females and older individuals, who also have relatively lower body water percentages, show higher blood alcohol concentrations even when drinking the same amount as males.
I haven’t come across anything recently that stirred my heart the way this series did. It deserves far more…
No, we haven't all drowned our sorrows in alcohol. Some of us have done other things. Cutting hair, buying bags, weeping on friends' shoulders, going on a trip, eating sweets (not that it's a good thing!)... Some choose drinking or smoking or drugs. But not all.
KNJ's new job was a hint that he would choose not to reincarnate with Hae Suk after seeing how past lives affect…
No, I mean those people like the Japanese collaborator who profited from his misdeeds by writing a successful book, the mother who reincarnated as a little girl and watched her pregnant daughter in the park or others, who were living and remembering past lives. And that was the second job of the husband, to go and erase them. How come there were people with non-erased memories, so many that there was a whole post created for someone to go and fix this?
I dunno. She told him before to do what he wants, and I really expected him to have a fling with his hellacious…
She was an idiot for choosing that age. She could AT LEAST have asked "What age did my husband choose?". And if they didn't reply, AT LEAST choose a middle age, not too young, not too old, to be on the safe side. This is where the plot hinges, and it's an absurd thing, not logical at all.
English dub? okay... well, dub is terrible, but your choice
Calling video watchers people who "lazy around" is not okay. For many of us it is a pleasant interval when we're tiring day's work. But someone comes and calls us "lazy" because we don't do other stuff while watching? The nerve!
i don’t think he’s doormat character. He was cruel to break up with her without explanation. It’s understandable…
Not only that! If she were in a hospital because of an illness, one could say "she would die anyway, too bad that you couldn't be with her, but nothing would really change". But it wasn't like that! We saw that the mother was in good health, she didn't have anything serious She got anxious because her daughter didn't show up and then on the phone she sounded terribly sick, so in her anxiety the mother slipped over something and had a fatal fall. If the daughter were able to get home as promised, the mother wouldn't have fallen and died.
It is the worst drama of the year. What is good about it ??
Maybe they say "the worst of the year" not meaning that it's terrible, but because others this year were much better? I wouldn't know, because I rarely watch c-dramas, but might it be that it was a particularly good year and the other dramas were super-good?
there is no romance here..! just revenge revenge revenge and at last FL just throw alms into ML's hands by just…
He was not single all those years. Maybe you skipped something? He told her that he was in a relationship. And why is it low to marry a divorcee? You must be Asian, LOL. I know that in that part of the world divorcees are considered undesirable as prospective partners.
i really agree its poorly written .. but china does have some really epic drama;s !!
I think it is because of the convention that it has to be from 24 to 30 episodes, so they dilute them to fill them. If it were 16 episodes like K-dramas, they would be tighter. For instance this one could have ended at around episode 21 but they had to introduce another 2nd male lead, a financial peril and ALSO a cancer.
7.3 is still overrated for this drama, disappointed by Arthur's comeback.
You could argue that he did the same when he chose to take decisions on their future without consulting her, "for her own good". Basically it was because of his pride and patriarchical ideas that he should be the one to provide, the perfect boyfriend and husband, and anything less than that he did not want to show her. So he preferred to be a jerk and make both of them miserable for 7 years because of his stupidity and pride. Dig a bit deeper? She literally went there to find out what happened. She saw the other woman with her own eyes in a state of undress; she heard him with her own ears say some things, so why should she look for more proof? Would you? What more is needed? The childhood woman friend also stood silent, didn't explain anything. Because obviously the misunderstanding suited her, since she wanted him for herself. But then she told him "why don't you run after her"? Hypocrite! She was "money money"? Even the male lead conceded that he understands, after learning about the creditors bullying her. And when he is in debt himself, he says "I used to tell you that health is more important than money, but now I understand, and you are telling me to look after my health and sleep but I cannot" (not his exact words, but the gist is the same). If one has never been poor and in debt, one cannot understand those who are. She didn't want to have an obligation and move into his apartment that he paid. And it turns out that she was right, because he split up with her and then what? She had to m ove again. Better be independent, not owe to anyone. This way love is pure and there are no possible misunderstandings that the one who is poor is leeching off the other, even if it's your lover. The ML's female friend (forgetting her name, Xu something?) said so. "I understood that you were not there for his money because bla bla bla".
