This drama has everything you'll love.⭐
From beginning to end, this drama truly delivered. Fresh concepts, great synergy among the cast, amazing music, and just the right amount of comedy without any cringe—plus some of the best actors in recent years. Liu Yu Ning was outstanding and consistently excels in roles like this. I hope we continue to see him in more historical or fantasy dramas. It’s definitely a rewatch-worthy series because you’ll enjoy yourself from start to finish. The overall concept stands out—just when you think you can predict what’s coming next, the show proves you wrong every time. I’d 100% recommend it to anyone who enjoys a perfect blend of historical romance and comedy.
A 10/10 banger! This one’s officially going on my “never forget” list.

This show made you excited in the beginning, then you wonder halfway "How did they miss the mark?"
Head over Heels is one of those dramas that leaves you asking for so much more. It had a dynamic storyline with something new in every turn. The casting was great all around, and the plot gave such a dopamine hit when reading about it. I even digested and waited till I reviewed this one, simply because it was like a climax dream that you woke up from halfway in.I’m not entirely sure if it’s because of the westernization of dramas through Netflix or what, but while the story offered a lot, it didn’t deliver enough emotional pull for all the characters, only for the main female lead. It missed the mark when it came to fleshing out the other side characters, and it also left you confused as to why major plot points were introduced at random peaks in the story. It wasn’t like these additions brought a new dynamic that changed the direction; it felt more like, “Well, we only have so many episodes, so let’s just slap this important information here now so viewers won’t be left questioning.”
The drama had so much potential with its story, actors, and viewership. It simply left me feeling like, Damn, this would be so much better as a novel or with a full, well-developed script that included emotional plot points to draw viewers more deeply into the entire story.
Don’t get me wrong—it was okay. But it had so much room to be something truly great. It kinda missed the fullfilment of fans for these drama types, honestly.

Will internally miss this, if not renewed❤️
As someone who hasn’t watched the donghua or read the novels, this show was an absolute banger and a great introduction to Wuxia without romance. The visual effects were amazing, to say the least. The variety of character development left me not only enjoying the main cast but also actively drawn into the other storylines. I didn’t find it slow at all—in fact, I really enjoyed the pacing.I think Yang Yang was a great choice for the main role and did an amazing job capturing the essence of the character. I’m glad the show didn’t create diverging storylines to appeal to those who wanted something else. It’s simply an awesome fantasy martial arts series with a badass storyline and constantly escalating plot goals.
I watched it every single day and was actually satisfied with where they left season one. I even caught myself thinking, “This felt like watching half of Game of Thrones in less than three weeks, and I want that dopamine shot straight into my DNA—I’m really going to miss this.” I truly hope they bring it back and complete the series, because I don’t know if I can just settle for the novel or the donghua after seeing how visually fulfilling the show was. I enjoyed every minute, glad I watched every single opening song/ending, and it literally melted me into being way more interested in these types of dramas! Going to miss it for sure, already do! Glad I stepped out of my normal genre box for this and will not forget it ❤️

Honestly underrated show. Deserving of more praise !
This show honestly took me by surprise. By the overall rating, I thought it would be a mid-level drama, but I was completely wrong. I found the story to be different, not the usual cliché. The acting of the main couple was great, and I really enjoyed watching their connection and story all the way through. Did it become a little frustrating for a couple of episodes? Yes. But the writers, instead of taking the normal route of dragging out the confusion, allowed the main character to progress into their own selves with growth. They changed and adapted with the flow of the writing. Honestly, the main male actor in this show is so underrated; I loved how he was able to adapt to his character, and you end up loving his personality throughout. The female lead was strong, and she had her own journey that was actually shown and progressed with her. There wasn't any girl needing a man's help. I absolutely adored this show, and it will go on my "do not forget" list. The fighting scenes towards the end, along with all the development and character growth, had me smiling, and the pining for each other was so much fun. Honestly it's better than what a lot say. Just give it a try, please !
The one thing about the storyline in this drama that held me was the strong yearning and romance. The female lead character had challenging decisions. While a lot thought it felt flat in the middle, I myself found it better than a lot of series. The continuous mystery of what would lead to the end and how it would happen was enjoyable. The beginning was very intriguing because the characters have amazing drive in the storyline. The ending was complete and made me feel wholesome for waiting it out. I just enjoy a good manipulative historical plot with a strong male lead. The main characters are all brilliant, and the series doesn't play the 'average' plots as much. The music was great, and the romantic connection was unique. I feel that with this type of genre and story, the beginning will be the most gripping because it's a mystery and political manipulation with a lot of important characters. It does a good job of laying out the purpose of each character, and it still leaves twists towards the ending. I can see why some would find it frustrating, but overall, I feel like everything together made it a good show! Was this review helpful to you?

2nd watch through and STILL DESERVING OF THE PRAISE ! ❤️
Honestly, both leads are underrated, definitely Li Yun Rui. This show was even more enjoyable on the 2nd watch through. I fell even more in love with the story and the chemistry of romance. The slightly flirty romance emerged bolder, and it brought me to respect this show even more than before. The camera work, settings, and costume work are top-notch! I feel like the script kept leading into more giddy/enjoyable moments and was giving everything you wanted. Felt like not one episode was truly wasted at all.I'll finish this with my favorite quoted moment in the show :
"-With or without me, you can have a good life.
-How can I have a good life without you?
Are you hiding something from me?
I want you to tell me yourself.
Just trust me.
-I can give you my life
But your life is still yours to live...
-As long as we're together, your life is mine too.
Why make a distinction between us?"
*Give it a try and you won't regret it!
