Zi Jing's past is just awful. 8 years? That's why he likes everything clean..
I think YZJās tragic past is the reason heās also so determined to treat everyone the same, no matter who they are or where they come fromāheās learned the hard way that fairness is something you canāt take for granted. Itās also why heās so guarded, only trusting Kang Ju and pushing everyone else away or keeping them at a distance. So itās hard for him to believe that anyone, even DW, could ever truly protect him, even though he loves her and knows she loves him. His heart wants to trust, but the scars from his past make it almost impossible to let go of the doubts and fear.
You know what they say about curiosity, right? Even though I'm happy, they realized they liked each other so early.…
šæ I just hope that when they collide again, the heartache theyāve been through is rooted in something more than just some typical misunderstanding.
I should have stayed in my blissful bubble longer and avoided the trailers for episodes 18-19 until tomorrow... Episodes 16-17 were pure joy, almost too sweet to handle. Those shy glances, the lingering stares, the nervous energy, the completely ridiculous grinsābravely discovering that first rush of love. Shrimp, the adorable protective little brother, and Kang Ju, the gruff yet softie matchmaker... everyone was just so happy, so hopeful, all looking out for each other. But no, I just had to sneak a look at those trailers. And, of course, one heartbreak isnāt enough for the writers; two, still not enough; three? four? five?? Nope, they had to go full throttle and take it all away in another brutal twist. š¢
I believe Lady 8 was a slave who rose through the ranks because of her ability to read and her knack for numbers.…
Thank you for your kind words. Iām truly moved by stories of people overcoming unimaginable challenges, especially when they're rooted in history. There's something deeply moving about them.
Your theories on how the heartbreak comes about, ladies?
DW is determined to follow YZJ into battle, committed to being his shield no matter the danger. Knowing sheāll try to follow him, YZJ leaves her behind at the camp, even going so far as to tie her up to keep her safe. But DW is stubborn; with a little help from Shrimp, she manages to free herself and heads out after himāShrimp, just as loyal, follows her every step.
Before long, DW and Shrimp are captured. YZJ receives a ransom note, demanding he trade the red pearl for DWās life. But when he attempts the rescue, everything goes horribly wrong. Forced into a choice between saving DW or saving Shrimp, YZJ chooses DWāand in the chaos, DW is severely injured. She nearly dies, but somehow survives.
Though she pulls through, the trauma marks YZJ deeply. Haunted by the possibility of her dying, he begins to push her away, masking his fear with cruelty, saying things meant to hurt and turn her love to hate. Devastated by Shrimpās death and feeling deeply betrayed by YZJās harshness, DW lashes out, trying to wound him in turn. But she isnāt strong enough, and YZJ walks away, leaving her behind to finish his revenge.
In a dilemma. May I should wait for this to finish right to binge watch...?
I usually wait to binge-watch and even take a peek at the ending to save my sanity... but I'm so glad I didn't this time. I'm loving all the discussions hereāmakes the whole experience even better.
when she is talking to her mom talking about seeing her father above IS crazy cause her mama is not going to heaven…
I believe Lady 8 was a slave who rose through the ranks because of her ability to read and her knack for numbers. In episode 2, we catch a glimpse of her past in DWās flashbacksāsheās dancing as a pearl hostess, blending in and scarred her own face, finding her own way to survive. Sure, she could have tried to rebel, be the hero... tried to save as many as she can... but if she did, sheād almost certainly face deathāa choice that would leave her daughter unprotected in that brutal, unjust world. Instead, she made sacrifices, enduring what she had to, giving up her integrity, her soul, knowing that her survival meant she could shield her daughter from the worst of it. Lady 8 embodies the painful choices people make under oppression, showing us how survival sometimes means bending without breaking, all for the sake of those we love.
ZHAO LU SI. Yes, she deserves to have every letter of her name capitalized. Ridiculous people appear here to try…
Thatās so true. Jealousy can often turn insecurities into bitterness, driving some to be less kind.
I believe that one of Zhao Lu Siās standout talents is her incredible emotional intelligence, which brings a special depth to her acting. She has this natural ability to tune into emotions and express them in ways that feel raw and authentic. Her facial expressions and gestures flow together seamlessly, never forced or stiff, making her characters feel real rather than staged. You can sense that she truly understands her characters on an emotional level, shaping them with both creativity and empathy. This is why her performances resonate so deeplyāeach character she plays lingers in our minds and hearts, leaving a lasting, relatable impact.

Thatās why people who are stuck in bitterness or negativity often struggle to grasp the impact of someone like Zhao Lu Siāsomeone whose kindness, honesty, and grace naturally draw others to her. Emotional intelligence isnāt just about managing our own emotions; itās also about connecting with others in ways that make them feel understood and appreciated. Impressive! She's so artistically creative and talented. That scene was a perfect setup for ZJRās whole āknight in shining armorā vibe, which made me take notice of himāuntil he opened his mouth and turned into the worldās most annoying moral authority. š

I have fat thumbs and autocomplete is my mortal enemyāso my phone keyboard is pretty much just for texting š. Iām always on my laptop for everything.
Iām absolutely loving this drama! The dark, dynamic themes, the strong and complex leadsāitās all so gripping. The storylines are deep and feel so real, and the fast pacing keeps me hooked the whole time. As a bit of a perfectionist, I do have high standards, so there are a couple of small things with ZJR and CSJ's character growth that I hope get explored more. But honestly, everything else is just spot on for me so far.
The pacing is spot-on, the story pulls you in right from the start, and the acting is so good you'll be hooked by Episode 1. From there, itāll have you on the edge of your seat, wanting more. Give it a watch and see if itās your cup of tea.
Love the way he cradles the back of her head, her neck, her face, hugs her... all those loving romantic touches.
I just hope that when they collide again, the heartache theyāve been through is rooted in something more than just some typical misunderstanding.
