ugh don't remind me of that show, honestly I liked it for the first half but esp the last couple eps were atrocious.

Man the 2ML has no consideration for love or attachments rn, he's like pure calculation, and will most likely not see Jo Eun as some sort of love interest but maybe will want to be close to her so he can use her for whatever scheme he's planning, or maybe use her to manipulate the prince. The archery scene with them had a lot of tension but I didn't get sexual tension from it, more like intellectual tension.

And by the end I think he'll fall for the 2FL after some character development for him. He seemed to admire the 2FL for not being a cliche hair grabbing jealous bride and I could see him slowly falling for her before realizing it, esp if they end up married and she supports him behind the scenes in small ways.

And I think the 2FL will have a superficial crush on the ML but it won't be anything serious, and her getting over it will show her maturing as a character.

At least I hope this is how it plays out lol.

There's no reason to give that rating after 2 eps unless it's something like a fan of another actor/actress who is a rival to one of the leads or maybe a show with their fav actor is airing the same time and is competition . Rabid fans are so weird.

I love the comic relief guard characters.

Same I wasn't thinking they would have no chemistry but like right out the gate they got me swooning. That scene in the rain was really lovely and by the end I was invested. I think it's a combo of Ji Hyun's portrayal of Eun Jo that makes you understand why the prince fell for her pretty much instantly, and how Sang Min plays the prince with softness and integrity so that his affection for her seems really pure and meaningful.

I assume there's going to be more revealed about the politics and I'm really hoping that the two of them being able to swap places will help them accomplish something they couldn't in their own bodies?

I actually trust that the writer has enough plot for all 16, which is nice, I feel like there is just so much going on that we don't know about.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder... You gotta have them apart at times so that they long for eacthother. I enjoyed watching the prince search for her and see how much of an impact she made on him. Seems like the preview for next week shows them together a ton.

Okay y'all the writing of this story is so good, beyond just the fun romance the setup of the characters and story has been done so well. All of the characters are intriguing and buck against cliche stereotypes.
- The ambitious minister showed he was a coward in the past and still takes care of the friend he betrayed
- The ruthless and frivolous king showed love for his little brother and seems more savvy than he let's on
- The queen dowager only concerned about gaining power through political marriage actually worries deeply for her grandson
- The niece who is overly controlled by her older brother but still has a spirit and mind of her own and rebels in subtle ways
- Even the concubine who seemed like a just a superficial hussy but appears to be playing her own more serious game
- The lazy noble brother who cares deeply for a sister he shouldn't even acknowledge
- The son of the inspector who seems harsh and calculating but in a way that is controlled and rational rather than cruel just for cruelty's sake. Im Jae I is the most intriguing to me tbh, I feel like there is sooo much we don't know about him and his motivations.

I also love that the court politics have been hinted at but we haven't spent scenes and scenes of exposition about it. Little things like the shared look between the minister and the concubine, the fact that only two of the court officials weren't laughing during the assembly, the king mentioning he couldn't protect his mother in the past, the whole history between the two ministers who confronted the king, the prince talking about the bloodbath that is possible by being involved in the inner circle of the monarchy, the defeated words and look of the queen who claimed the minister is too powerful to stop only to see the minister later groveling at the king's feet, the king allowing the prince to act as a detective pretending it's just a silly pastime, and them seeming to be allies despite the fact that they should be seen as enemies, the growing unhappiness of the exploited working class, etc. There is so much tension boiling just below the surface.

Also I absolutely love when the ML is masculine but gentle, it's more rare for a historical. I legit teared up when he sent the widow the food. Him and Eun Jo have so so much in common, both have very warm, big hearts that they don't always wear on their sleeve, they both have a persona they show to the world and another they show behind closed doors, they both have a strong sense of justice and empathy, have super strong conviction in their own beliefs, have a lot more intelligence than people assume, have suffered more in the past than their exterior would let on, they are gonna fall SO hard for each other I can't wait. The leads have way more chemistry than I thought they would.

Such a great start and really looking forward to see how it all unfolds, esp the body swap portion, I'm not usually a fan of body swap but after these eps I trust the writer will incorporate it well into the story.

There is a lot of parallels between a show like BB with its hero who turns out to be the villain and all the political intrigue of shows like sopranos, GOT, etc.

If you are looking for more mature k dramas I'd recommend historicals:

Non-historical:

As far as acting Yoo Ah In is the heart and soul of the drama, he gives a really amazing performance.

I'm so glad they didn't, that would have made the drama worse, it didn't make sense for their characters at all or the story. This wasn't a romance it was a political thriller, really. Those two were fated for tragedy from the beginning. He is bang won for god's sake, there are no real happy endings for him.

OMG, six flying dragons changed me as a person. Back when historicals were 20+ eps and really told a story. Yoo Ah In was a force of nature and you could see why he won daesang for that role, he is the best bang won to ever grace the screen. If you loved NIF you will love 6FD I hope you can find it in your country soon!

Oh and I like that you can see how the soul swap will be problematic and actually be an important part of the story and the way the plot unfolds, versus Moon River where it was kinda pointless (I liked that drama on the whole just didn't think the body swap added anything).

He was really good in under the king's umbrella, he came out of nowhere and kinda stole the show IMO. I think this is his element and he'll do a great job.

I acutally think it adds to their pairing because he has such a higher status that him being kinda a softy and a bit younger than her puts them on even footing. He totally is the type to fall for a noona, she only seems a couple years older than him at most.

Yeah I'm intrigued by the minister's son, I was so confused that him and the niece got a classic k drama meet cute cause I assumed he was a rake, so it was a nice twist to find out he set that whole thing up for some sort of scheme. I really hope he doesn't fall for Eun Jo too. I'm tired of love triangles for real.

TBH I've only seen him in Under the Queen's Umbrella and he was great. He seems perfect for the role already after just watching ep 1, and it's a totally diff character to UQU, I guess historicals are his element.

Y'allll that first ep was so solid, the last 10 mins got me totally hooked. NGL I've never really seen the appeal of Nam Ji Hyun but she already won me over. Love her, love Eun Jo, Sang Min is back in his element, he hit all the perfect notes both comedy-wise and romance-wise as the snooty but thoughtful prince, their chemistry is great, and I really enjoy the FL being the strong fighter and the ML being the soft fussy one. It makes them seem more like peers despite their statuses being so different. Like this girl can hold her own. And I like that you can see why he is already entranced with her, I have a crush on her myself already, and I totally swooned when he smirked and said he was going to catch her, not realizing he was already hot on her trail as Gil Dong. Really great set up of the characters, the plot conflict, and romance. Super excited for ep 2.
