The acting is exaggerated but this is pretty normal for most J-dramas. Something like Kyou Kara Ore wa!! is even more exaggerated. If you want less exaggerated acting in a J-drama, I'd suggest the following: 1 Liter of Tears, Mother, Soredemo Ikite Yuku, Tonbi, N no Tame ni, and Woman
The indecisiveness of the ML is frustrating. Always waiting for this or that perfect moment/situation, but maybe that is realistic. If this was maybe was shortened to 7 or 8 episodes series, it would probably be less frustrating.

Even after episode 50, it's only average with a few good moments. I'd probably drop this and watch another Asadora. Maybe try Chiritotechin, Carnation, or Asa Ga Kita
