I used to love the US film of this story, Cruel Intentions! Funny that the US has just adapted this story into a series which will air this year and now we see SK adapting it into a series!
like some other people the speed of the relationship wasn’t to my liking and their chemistry wasn’t insanely good so this ended up falling a bit flat for me. I think I would’ve rated this higher if it ended after episode 3, which felt almost like an ending. And they were besically in a committed relationship with each other anyway by episode 2, which meant the rest of the series was just throwing in new ways to separate them each episode. And because they got together so fast I wasn’t sure if they actually would make it through all the obstacles in the series. i don’t think this is a bad series, it is just definitely not made for slowburn fans.
I am rewatching and I truly love this so so much. It perfectly captures the nostalgia of growing up and changes that brings to your life! It’s definitely my favourite project from director New and Earth and Santa are both just incredible in this - Cake is 100% my favourite BL character ever. He’s so charming, playful and caring, but there are moments when he lets his anger get the better of him. He’s such a real character and Santa played him so well! I am so excited to see Santa in a lead role again so soon and with Perth - they make sense as a pairing and their journey in this industry has been quite similar!
I think Yin quietly complemented War's acting. They had to be that way to get where they are now.
I always thought that too! Especially when looking at the other BL stars in 2020! Then I went on here to see people hating on his acting! but he is even better now.
Yin gets more and more talented each series! I remember when the original Love Mechanics came out people were saying he wasn’t up to Wars standard of acting, but I’d say they are both equally incredible now!
i think we need to make sure that the people that think this is going to be a cute and sweet BL know that that…
our lead has 3 main romantic relationships and they all end miserably - the first is a bad break up at university. The second is an older guy who never loved him. The third relationship I loved but his boyfriend moves countries and our lead cannot follow him because he has HIV and so can’t get a visa. He ends the novel a while later still wishing he could be with that 3rd partner that left. But the romances arent even the saddest bits: His platonic relationship with his best friend also ends miserably when they argue and he feels like their friendship was one big lie. And his relationship with his mother ends miserably too! it will be the most depressing story told in recent BL years - so this is just a warning to those people thinking it will be cute and sweet - this will be dark! And of course I will watch it, love it and cry about it!
This!!! Although I did feel shocked and surprised at the PE class scene, but what I'm more focusing is that the…
yes! jiang tian - is a little different to how I always pictured him. Like for some reason I always imagined his uniform to be put on perfectly (his shirt always tucked in, buttons done up to the top) - but he is still so much like the character from the book - and Sheng Wang is almost exactly how I imagined him
I am a huge fan of the novel - its actually the only contemporary danmei I’ve ever finished, and as a fan I will be the first to say that this novel is the slowest slowburn to slowburn ever - if we were adapting this novel fully it would be 60 episodes and they wouldn’t kiss until way way in! They are definitely mixing around the novels timeline and I am okay with that. What I care about is that watching this series feels like reading the novel and those characters I read about really feel like they've been brought to life on screen. I think everyone is overreacting, this is better than I was expecting as such a fan!
I’be only just finished ep5, but this is so so adorable! I don’t get the mid reviews for this. The plot is simple, but it works and the leads are both great with good chemistry. it may be a bit slower paced compared to a lot of dramas from other countries, but this has pretty standard pacing for a jbl. Maybe the last 3 episodes are terrible and then I’ll understand, but i really hope not!
I really hope with this we will get lots of cross overs in these stories - I hope we will see lots of hints of the future lead couples in the early episodes and then lots of scenes of the earlier couples all loved up in the final episodes. Even though I know the leads will rotate - i still want to see the other couples before and after each of thier stories.
