I watched the preview for next week and Seo Kyung + Jin Woo are at a police station talking to an officer, and then he's looking angry talking to her in sign language.
Please god don't let there be a hidden child at an orphanage or something and the reason she 'disappeared' was because of a secret pregnancy. This show is so perfect, and handles tough issues with such sincerity and grace, that it would crush my soul if they ruined it with melodrama like that!
absolutely loved nagase ren in "yugure ni te wo tsunagu" and kadawaki mugi is excellent in everything she gets cast in. very excited to see these two together and watch what they do with these unique roles! can't wait for this to start airing <3
😂😂😂 That just means you have a more unique taste than most!! Honestly sometimes I ship hear with all…
I truly thought WITH MY WHOLE CHEST that they were meant to be the main CP until like 3/4 through the show when I started to worry.... Then I visited the comment section and I realized I had been bamboozled 😂
I have a list for this kind of vibe, which is basically slice-of-life romance. I love it so much! It's very quiet,…
Oh, awesome!!! I'm so pumped you have found a niche genre that you're drawn to. This show in particular is absolutely wonderful; a very special gem, and I've been eagerly looking forward to the new episodes every week.
I too loved One Spring Night and Something in the Rain! You will definitely really enjoy the ones on my list for the most part, especially if you're open to shows outside of Korea. There's some fantastic entries in there from Japan and China that will really scratch this itch for you. WTWIF is actually the only Korean show I mentioned in my previous comment above! The other three are Japanese/Chinese shows, but they truly capture that slow pace/ethereal calmness that is present here in Tell Me You Love Me. Trust me!
Please feel free to message me anytime if you want to chat more about any of these recs, and I'm more than happy to give you more info!!
I'm enjoying this drama so much. 😭 Does anyone have recommendations for similar vibes?
I have a list for this kind of vibe, which is basically slice-of-life romance. I love it so much! It's very quiet, heartfelt, and moving—the smallest moments are the most poignant.
The main motif which is woven through this show is fate: 운명 [unmyeong]. In episode 1, Baek Ryun drinks with Eun So in the mountain restaurant, and Baek Ryun asks Eun So, "What do you think love is?" Eun So replies, "It's fate. Something that always finds you."
In Korean, the word fate 'unmyeong' is made up of two words. 'Un' = to move, and 'myeong' = life. The myth of the red string of fate is tied to this concept: that the gods tie the string to the fingers of those destined to cross paths in life. In essence, as you move through life, you are unknowingly moving towards that person.
The fact that Baek Ryun saw the prince in her glimpse of her past life shows that, at least then, he was her destined partner. Sang Hyuk accidentally interfered in that destiny when he was hit with the love arrow, and the whole affair ended in tragedy. It's possible that fate is trying to rectify itself by putting the Baek Ryun and Jae Hee together again, but she has already chosen Sang Hyuk in every way that matters. I believe that the drama will try to impress on us that even when our chance of victory is slim, and even when the cost is more than we can bear, we have the free will to make our own decisions and love who we want. We must have determination to face the challenges which come our way. Regardless of our red string of fate, our real destiny is the one we choose for ourselves.
Sad to see My man is Cupid not even mentioned. The curse of Amazon streaming, I guess. The Story of Park's marriage…
agreed! my man is cupid is actually wonderful romcom fare — i've been consistently engaged with it from the first episode, which honestly surprised me, because i wasn't expecting too much going in. the performances from the leads are above and beyond and it has kept me hooked. sad to see how little buzz it's getting.
You're just straight up just hating, he's way better than alot of thai actors that are literally supposed to be…
he is a beautiful man, and i commend his efforts to learn a new language, but it's not hate to speak the truth. i see his effort, but he is a godawful actor. it's fine; there is plenty of opportunity for him to improve, and in the meantime he will be laughing his way to the bank lol
i know this isn't a huge budget production or anything but it's been a looooong time since i've seen an actor—in a lakorn or otherwise—as untalented as luke ishikawa.
watching him try to produce natural emotions on screen is so painful. i've seen kids in middle school plays that could act circles around this guy. legitimately unbearable "performance" lmao.
both he AND dew need to take an acting sabbatical to improve their craft 😭
Hwang In Youp shines in loudly charismatic roles. His extraordinary portrayal of Han Seo Jun in True Beauty was really the only reason I powered through that show. It will be a new challenge for him to play an adaptation of the character Ling Xiao from Go Ahead—an old soul, weary from life's challenges, and carrying private burdens from his own (and his family's) past. But it's so wonderful he's taking the risk to seek out these varied roles, and not letting himself get locked into one niche. If he can pull it off, he will have an incredibly successful career in front of him.
I'll hope for the best and be excited for this one <3
Can someone tell me what happened in the aiport scene where she ran into her former coworker? I was too embarrassed…
Omg yes it was so painful!!! Basically her former coworker saw that she was acting in a scene, and Mo Eun was like "uhhh yeah I'll tell you about it next time!!!" because she was trying to hide the fact that she was an extra, but the coworker stuck around to watch, and then realized what was going on so Mo Eun was really embarrassed.
Like, when you think about it, it's not really a big deal, but in the moment it was awkward af, and I can understand why for Mo Eun it was a status thing—going from a stable employment track to unglamorous gig work would be a little humiliating.
Absolutely loving this so far. Yes, it's a pretty formulaic and sometimes cheesy fantasy romcom, with a dash of serial murder thrown in because that's just always a thing now I guess lol. And while the music/lighting/cinematography leave something to be desired, Nana's portrayal of Oh Baek Ryun is WONDERFUL. I'm not sure if I would like the character so much were any other actress playing the role! I have found her performance to be so honest, raw, and endearing. I would stick around just to watch her even if this one goes south, but for now it's an easy fun watch so I'm keeping my expectations minimal and really enjoying it for what it is.
Big round of applause for Nana though. I'll have to check out her other dramas after this one.
There's no way to know tbh. Hopefully not forever—I actually really like Angelababy as an actress. She has great screen presence and charisma and she chooses fun projects! But IF she is able to make a comeback, it likely won't be for many more months or even years.
She attended an event at Crazy Horse Paris—a cabaret club where Western fashionistas and celebs do stripteases lmao. Not a big deal for Europeans, but the CCP goes rabid for this kind of thing as celebs must be good role models/representatives of the Chinese State even when abroad and something like this 'sets a bad example.' Lisa from Blackpink was performing at the show and has also received blowback. Especially during holiday season in China which is meant to be for families and wholesomeness, netizens are outraged.
So, just for attending, Angelababy has been blacklisted with her Weibo acct frozen and several of her modeling gigs cancelled. Tbh it's unlikely her career recovers from this, but we'll see. I would be shocked if this drama (or any of her others) were cleared to air.

I highly recommend especially: When the Weather Is Fine, Falling Before Fireworks, Kikazaru Koi ni wa Riyuu ga Atte, and Remembrance of Things Past.
