Was considering giving this lakorn another try but knowing that the ending is as you've described, I think I'll…
I've read other comments of people being like, "Oh it's okay! They work out this last miscommunication and she earns his forgiveness!!" But I knew no amount of groveling from either party was going to get me to forgive the show itself. It was beyond disturbing and gross to watch a 'miscommunication' and stubbornness (like that's literally ALL IT WAS) end up causing a mother to just release custody of her newborn child immediately upon delivery. Like, I couldn't even believe they took it that far, which is saying a lot for a lakorn lmao! I really did enjoy the first dozen or so eps though, but this was TOO MUCH even for me.
He is one of the most underrated actors in Korea imo. Cannot wait to see this one; I'm sure his performance will live up to this hype. Hope he gets the recognition he deserves from this!
what is the matter you are talking about? regarding the Third Male lead?
Zhou Jun Wei had a scandal wherein he posted a picture on Weibo a few months ago meant to protest government censorship (a blank piece of paper, symbolizing all of the things Chinese citizens are not allowed to say in regards to how the administration is operating the country). This got him suspended from Weibo temporarily, and people suspect—though nothing is confirmed—that SOKP airing date was delayed due to the scandal.
Not uncommon in China, as silly as it sounds; dramas have been delayed or canceled entirely for less.
sigh, you're right. i'm on ep 4 now and dreading catching up. i think i've made a terrible mistake, but it's so…
Everything I'm hearing is making it soooo hard to wait! I'm so excited to binge it. I honestly can't remember the last time a lakorn had this much good press around it from fans, like what on earth is happening
Not interested in SG any more. It's been done. It's bound to hit #1 in the Netflix chart but I don't feel like…
agreed. the first season will inevitably be cheapened by the second, because there's no way the second season is going to be as high quality as its predecessor. they just can't let sleeping dogs lie when there's money to be made...
Can't wait to start watching the one once it's closer to completion. Cast, aesthetic, vibe all look super solid...but starting a Thai lakorn with only 4 episodes released is unwise lmao. These shows are made for binging. This early on and I will not survive
"good" is subjective. What kind of dramas do you deem good?
Watch Dali and The Cocky Prince. It is easily the best Korean romcom I've seen in the last 5 years. So refreshing, well-acted, unique in every possible way—and the chemistry between the leads is chef's kiss!
Easily my favorite Korean actress of her generation. Her charisma is so effortless. Never seen such a striking Kdrama leading lady as Park Gyu Young in Dali and the Cocky Prince. I will watch literally anything she puts out regardless of genre. So hoping she has an increased role in the second season of Sweet Home, too.
Is Rina cheating on Karn? I mean, she doesn't know his truth yet and it seems they have some kind of a romantic…
She isn't cheating—Rina and Karn actually aren't explicitly in a relationship, though the show tries to make you think the contrary lmao. In a sense it does feel like a betrayal, because they have always liked one another, and (at least she) thought they would end up together someday, and thus they are very close friends, and everyone pretty much knows how they feel about each other. But Karn clarifies later on that they were never dating. So no break-up necessary. Just clarifying!
Was really loving this until the last few episodes. Cannot express how utterly disgusted I was with the final arc that eliminated all character growth we had seen the entire rest of the show and spat in its face. You're telling me the FL is still so proud that she went so far as to claim to not want her unborn child and even refused to hold him in the delivery room???? When she had worked so hard to bring ML's mom back into his life, and knew how traumatized he was by being told he was also unwanted? Like?? What happened here?? Jesus tapdancing Christ I can't bring myself to finish it. As soon as she turned her head away from her newborn baby because, uhhhh, pride, or something, I just turned it off. I've seen some terrible lakorns but this is unforgivably insipid writing.
After watching happily for 12 hours I immediately realized in that moment that I couldn't finish. I can handle miscommunication trope, I can even enjoy the bad angsty moments, bring it on, but this was truly repulsive. Ended up hating both leads after forgiving them and understanding them for all the other bullshit they did to one another. I truly do not understand why I continue to put myself through lakorns when they always profoundly disappoint lmao.
The leads were done so dirty by the script in this one. Such a shame because their chemistry was impeccable, and their performances (especially Gina's—wow) were really outstanding. I'd love to see these two paired up again in another drama someday. I absolutely couldn't get enough every time they were on screen together.
just finished my annual kleun cheewit rewatch and i am DESPERATE for this to air. i need my yaya and mark chemistry back. no one, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE does it like them istg
definitely won't be happening after deng lun's scandal.
yeah, tax evasion case. he was fined millions of dollars, ended up having to liquidate several of his businesses, and his projects were halted. also his weibo was taken down—most likely the end of his career :/
Li Susu crying and hugging his tombstone and muttering, "Tantai Jin, you lied to me again..." had me curled up in a little fetal ball. Absolutely devastating. There was so little reprieve from all the heartbreak, man!
Big ouchies. I really wish the ending could have been extended...I loved the human-TTJ arc from the novel so goddamn much and would really have loved to see LSS try to make amends for some of her mistakes, and maybe, idk, FINALLY TELL HIM THE WORDS SHE SAID SHE WOULD TELL HIM NEXT TIME (AKA THAT SHE LOVES HIM!!!!!)
It's gonna be a total nightmare getting over this show. Light a candle and pray to the drama gods we get a special epilogue episode.
Yes, in the webtoon Hyunsoo is romantically linked to Jisu. In the drama, they have him vaguely paired with Eunyoo. I wasn't a fan of the change. I loved SooSu, so I'm personally hoping that in S2, they move back toward the original webtoon pairing. But who knows what will happen! I'll watch it regardless :)

like, bravo to this one, what an absolute gem of a lakorn—words that i have never uttered before in my life lmao
