YBC doesn't have a third incarnation in the novel, but in the show she will be returning. i believe the leaked script had her come back as a human, who also retains her memories (as punishment for her previous treachery i think). she will meet gong ye jiwu (XL's current incarnation) and try to right her wrongs by protecting him this time around rather than betraying him. YBC is not final boss, the devil god is.
I agree with everything esp the first point! My heart broke when he begged her to trust him and that he didn't…
while i love their love, unfortunately, it didn't heal him. don't forget that at the time of her death, he had imprisoned her for months and was refusing to let her be seen by a doctor lol. he was still petty, vindictive, and violent, regardless of his love for her. and besides, even if he had totally changed his ways and they had lived together in harmony, his death would still trigger the awakening of the devil god. as long as he had the devil bone, this would be the unavoidable outcome, regardless of what he wanted. LSS did what she had to do knowing their fate—she took the devil bone out so he could live, and make his own choices about who to become.
i'm excited for the next arc because both of them have gained a lot of wisdom from their previous experiences. finally they have some perspective. they really know now what loving each other can cost.
What's next? Will she rise from the dead and become a red-eyed demon or will she be reborn in the future with…
she returns to the 'future' 500 years later. she is once again li susu, her sect is safe. she has succeeded in changing the fate of the 3 realms. she retains her memories, but is trying to live normally and totally let go of what happened with tantai jin...until he shows up.
all that waiting really paid off! this was heartbreaking. TTJ crying and telling her, "but i don't even know them," really illuminates the tragedy of the whole situation. it's not his fault—none of this is. YET. but LSS is right—how can she gamble the fate of everyone in the three realms on the slim chance that he turns out to be good? i do wish she could have imparted some truth about her feelings as she left him: "i'm sorry that i hurt you but i have to do this, even if i don't want to." but i understand that she's trying to sever the connection entirely. i understand why she wants him to let her go, and vice versa. it's her way of saying "i'm ending this toxic relationship now, for both our sakes."
luo yun xi slayed his role in this climax—he does disbelieving grief really well. begging LSS to wake up had the tears flowing. and bai lu's screams of pain are unmatched!! although that may be her voice actor. it gets me going though. i feel her rage and profound sadness every time. it's all really powerful. i also loved YQY's anger in that last scene, protective of his sister even after her death, as he laid out all the things TTJ has done to YXW these past months. there's a lot of people defending TTJ, and i do love him, but he has done some pretty horrible things, and they shouldn't be glossed over. their relationship wasn't sunshine and roses. LSS suffered tremendously and he definitely needed to be reminded.
now we just have to wait like....3 more eps to have them reunite. imo this is where the real torture happens. i'd rather watch them miscommunicate and be toxic to each other nonstop than watch them be separated
Tan Tai Jin is quite toxic. It's getting difficult to like him now, he just uses loneliness and pity for audiences…
if this bothers you, i don't think you're going to enjoy this drama lol. simply put: TTJ is not your traditional male lead in any way. most of the time he is needy, cruel, pathetic, and power-hungry. he's actually pretty tame here—in the novel, he's FAR worse than what is portrayed in the show. these qualities make him really interesting to me, but it's understandable if it's not your cup of tea. no shame in dipping out if it's not for you!
That’s why when TTEOTM finishes Ill watch Love is Sweet as they are both the main leads in the modern world…
oh i know, and i adore love is sweet—but since i watched that drama first, it's hard for me to suspend my disbelief and basically pretend that the two are connected lmao. maybe i'll give it another watch and try again....can never have too much BL+LYX.
can't stop thinking about how much i want a second season of this show with tantai jin + li susu reborn in the modern world and falling in love (kind of like one and only & forever and ever).
them playing similar versions of themselves from their previous lives, but now it's a contract marriage in the modern era, which they both agreed to because they have something the other wants.....
i need this so badly. them getting tiny flashes of their previous connection but having no idea what it means, or why it aches so much to look at each other....AHH!
so i read through the entire leaked script (most of the aired episodes are word-for-word what is in there, with…
exactly this, oml. i've been rewatching the released episodes like crazy during the airing schedule, so to think that i won't enjoy future rewatches of this show because of the ending is super disappointing. i've never wanted spoilers to be wrong so badly before!

there are definitely some good/sweet moments, but they are separated a lot of the time and she gets knocked out or seriously injured QUITE a bit, which really takes her out of the action. it's super disappointing—it's like the character has nothing to do, or her being conscious would spoil the misunderstandings lol. not a fun trope to watch

that's what i'm saying!!!! in the novel, it's such a good ending. it really wraps things up beautifully—it's the type of happy ending we EARN after all the agony. if they choose not to explore that storyline at all i will be so upset
so i read through the entire leaked script (most of the aired episodes are word-for-word what is in there, with…
in the end, after TTJ sacrifices himself to destroy the demon god, he ends up back in the mortal world while LSS raises their daughter in the immortal realm (she was pregnant before he died, but they didn't know). LSS spends years searching for TTJ, just like he once did with her (this part is coming up in the show soon).
their daughter finds him in the human realm, and later LSS goes to pick up the kid and realizes it's TTJ—his name is now bai ziqian. they basically 'fall in love' all over again (there's a bit of a twist) and it's very soft and moving. it's also just a breath of fresh air—this story is wicked dark, so this ending is a really nice reprieve after such a violent and action-packed journey.

yeah i might have to just take a break from live-watching the episodes so that i can binge the rest all at once. if the episodes keep following the script, then i'll pretty much know what i'm in for and can prepare myself lmao. and then also maybe get an idea of the ending from the comments.
either way, i am really enjoying this show, it's gorgeous and bai lu/luo yunxi paired up is an absolute force, but to have the ending so rushed just makes the rest of the journey not feel as worth it. the show is just constant pain, which i knew from the get-go, but at least i could look forward to the final arc. like....at least let all this suffering be resolved somehow, some way. i'm scared they're gonna do us so dirty bro!!!!

omfg susu is basically knocked out/in a coma for the second half of the show. she is basically useless save for a couple of grand gestures. tantai jin is maligned and abused over and over with no reprieve. he never gets meaningful forgiveness from others and is basically hated to the end. the ending is open and lasts about 2 minutes where susu sees his shadow behind her at the mohe river while with her daughter.
dfkjhdfkjhdf. i am sooooo shaken and disappointed. i'm really hoping they leaked this to get some sort of audience response before editing it accordingly. or maybe they will release an extra easter egg episode with a fuller ending??? this might be wishful thinking. once people have paid for their subscriptions youku probably doesn't really give a sh*t.
getting rid of the bai ziqian arc is SO EGREGIOUS. it's my favorite part of the novel, it's where actual healing seems to happen after an entire muddling saga of misery and emotional torture. i was the most excited to see that play out and now it's just being erased because of time constraints or regulations about episode limits?? man, i'm so devastated rn. praying they don't leave it like this, with nothing actually resolved or fixed between them
