yeah i definitely don't have hope, i've learned to not have that over the many years and different shows i've watched since i discovered i'm aroace. shuto being arospec is just how he reads to me & even if it doesn't pan out that way it still doesn't mean the headcanons can't exist or that he can't be arospec to some people.
there's so many different identities on the aro spectrum and we have to remember that pacing in dramas isn't the same as real life so we don't know if it was fast or not plus love and attraction is different so he could've fell in love with her fast but not experienced attraction.
my main point is is that at this point in time i personally read him as arospec and that's okay. and you at this point in time don't and that's okay. these two things can coexist at the same time because our experiences of being aro are differnet and that's okay. it doesn't mean either of us are wrong. it's just our difference in views of our aro experiences are viewing this character differently. personally i find comfort in what shuto has said so far and i see reflections of myself in him as an aro because of that hence why i read him as aro.
& yeah they can pull the "fixing his trauma" thing i've seen it a lot but that also doesn't mean they will erase the possibility of him being ace. all it really comes down to is what the writers planned to do with his character in the beginning and whether or not him being asexual was ever on the cards.
here's another thing we can't ignore the fact that things can be lost in translation if we're not fluent in the original language. & that due to experiences and influences in our own lives two people can read something very differently, which seems to be the case here.

that's what his ex said that doesn't mean it is true since how would she know 😂 she's just assuming on what she's seen plus the only person who knows whether or not he fell for those other people & experienced romantic attraction towards them is shuto himself, many aro people can & have dated before realising they're aro so that still doesn't mean he can't be part of the aro spectrum (or that people can't headcanon him as such), just because he's said he loves/liked rei multiple times also doesn't mean he can't be arospec. it's about attraction not whether or not he's capable of love/romance. it's a spectrum so he can definitely fall on it.
it's also still possible they could steer him away from being ace especially since they haven't explicitly said that he is so far so that's why i'm hesitant to say he is even though he's heavily coded as such. & even if it is trauma related that doesn't mean he can't still be acespec, some people are acespec because of their trauma and that's okay too & would still be good representation anyhow. but this is all just my opinion being both aro & ace.

i've seen koisenu futari, i watched it when it was airing 🥰 , it's one of my top dramas of all time. i would love if we got another drama like that it was truly a gem, which i can't believe we got
after watching 3 eps there's just no way this man isn't asexual but without proper confirmation i don't want to get my hopes up because i've been burnt too many times before 😅 like so far it is on screen representation but idk i'm always wary of the representation being back tracked by the end of the series
