I just wanted to say that I'm bitter that SBX and LZG got more scenes in that first half of the show than Jack…
It felt like they already developed the entire plot for "Trapped" when they decided that "Oh, we need another couple for this show." Felt like Jack & ZZ had very little to do with the overall story line, but I love them!
Small matter in the grand scheme of things in MODC, but how the hell is the world made up of 97.5% ocean? I'd like to have a word with Yu Xi Gu's professor???
By the way, does anyone know where we can find BTS with EngSubs? LineTV Taiwan uploads them on Youtube but without subtitles. They recently put one up, and in it, Wayne steals a cheek kiss from Chunchih and I just want to understand hahaha.
On to my 3rd viewing of the latest episode, and holy moly I cant at how this episode gets to me so much.
My fave scenes:
1) Haoting waiting for Xigu after work. Earlier episodes said that his work at the Bar ends at 3AM. So for XHT to wait until that time... COMMITMENT. The Christmas gift and XHT's perfect response to 'I didnt prepare anything' was just toooo pure. XHT carrying YXG's bag for him. YXG finally finally finally loosening up and having pure jot at the bike scene. So simple so innocent so beautiful. And that kiss where YXG didnt flinch or move back from XHT. Just perfection, this sequence.
2. YXG's crying scene. I know I sound like a broken record but this booooy is so precious huhu. XHT please take care of him and never let go. Someone so young who had to carry sooo much responsibility - wishing for once to just be like anyone else and be someone without care in the world. Ugghhhh. Chunchih really did so well showing us YXG's anguish. Those tears, I'm telling you. And XHT really knew just what to say at that moment. I mean, "You now have me. I will give you my everything." This. This. This. Not to mention that back hug. Ugh. Perfect image of protection. If that doesnt scream love, idk what does.
3. When smolbean YXG peeped through the hole and saw XHT, he freakin smiled like he got so excited to see HT early in the morning. That unexpected hug was pure and is everything that young love represents.

They more or less let us know that a certain time has passed through character dialogue (if you miss it, you'll get confused), but I agree that it could be better if they showed that a significant amount of time actually passed by.
Chunchih is so precious and he plays the role of Yu Xi Gu sooooo well! And I'm basing this on his ability to actually make me feel what the character feels as well! I mean, when YXG is sad or crying, it makes me want to cry and be sad for him too. And when he's happy and smiling... like you said... it's just so genuine and bright and adorable. UGH. I love him haha

1. That opening scene with XYG in the classroom -- I assume he is waiting for Hao-ting to walk him home?
I guess you could call it waiting, but I interpreted it like he's already become used to XHT being there all the time, that he found it weird that he wasn't there at that time.
2. A little later, when Hao-ting apologizes to XTG outside the gym, is it because he didn't show up at the classroom? I think that's the reason, but why didn't he show up?
Yes. He apologized for not showing up. It's not clear with the show but I just assumed that this happened the same night he had the convo with LZG and SBX where LZG told him off for pursuing YXG. He was probably upset about what LZG said and that made him hesitate going to YXG that night.
3. Was he upset for the same reason that he didn't show up? We never find out. It's too bad, too, because it was an opportunity for his character to show some vulnerability and depth.

4. As Hao-ting's friend comes running into the classroom to say that XYG has been summoned before the school master, when he pauses to catch his breath - that was pretty corny acting. (But I'm fascinated by how in Asian countries schools can discipline students for behavior outside of school hours and off school grounds.)

5. I guess the way to say "gay bar" in Chinese is "gay bar". :)

Had the same thought! After all, he was admiring YXG's photos too in earlier episodes. But I guess you can appreciate appearance of people of the same sex without being gay. :)

Yes! Their school uniforms actually dont give them justice! HAHA.
8. The way XYG ate that apple slice ... so appreciative and tender, and nicely contrasted with Hao-ting just popping the whole thing into his mouth.
If anything, I love how the show is emphasizing on this detail about YXG's life. Makes me really appreciate him a whole lot more!
9. What was XYG's Christmas gift in the pyramid-shaped box?
I've read a few comments below that it's chocolate? IDK.
10. The "Love Love Love" streamer clipped to Hao-ting's jacket sleeve - I really love that. :) I need to go back to earlier episodes and see if that was its first appearance.

Yu Xi Gu - There's just no denying that I love this character so so so much! He deserves all the best things in the world! Chunchih is just so brilliant in his role! I mean, I watched it twice in a row and both times, I cried at the scene where he bared to XHT about his situation, and the things that he want to do but couldn't. It's... moving. And damn it, our boy is getting used to XHT's advances, looking for him when he's not there, and not moving back when kissed! I swear if anyone breaks this boy's heart, it will also be the end of me.
Xiang Hao Ting - Oh my boy. He's so head over heels in love with YXG. The way he defended YXG at his own expense was admirable (although i dont know how much he actually cared about being sanctioned by the school given his previous record). Their impromptu 'date' was also very adorable (I wish I could also have a past midnight date with a significant other someday. lol). I wish he would just keep breaking YXG's walls so that everyone else will get to see the brilliance and loveliness of that boy.
Sun Bo Xiang & Lu Zhi Gang - Hehe. Gotta admit that I'm not a diehard of their ship, but I do adore them as well. I guess I appreciated them more as a couple in this episode because at least it they're no longer problematic and they're just being overall mushy. Prolonging that age gap issue would just be too annoying. Favorite asparagus moment would be that cheesy line of SBX when he said he was already home after placing his head on LZG's chest.
Shi Yu - earns my extra character comment for the week because girl had me taking back my words. i don't hate her anymore - although they did portray her as a conniving and selfish woman at first. In hindsight, she did plan to breakup with XHT before dating YXG too, so she does have her morals intact. LOL.
My week-long quest to find out what was in that orange tv set was finally answered in this episode, too! It's a beetle and I must say, YXG has weird taste in what he finds cute. HAHA. And geez, I kinda love him more for it.
I also miss the Brothers Squad this episode. :( Their screen time this week was very short.
Lastly, XHT's family is soooo dysfunctional but they're so funny and I like them so far. However, the teaser for next week is making me worried.
Hmm and that's about it! I'll comment again once I think of more reactions to say about this episode! But until then, it's yet another week of waiting for the next episode! I'm probably gonna die. LOL.
So in one of the trailers, we saw XiangGu celebrating YXG's birthday in his tiny apartment. And I just noticed now that the cake is actually a carrot cake! I just find it sooo adorable cause remember we just discovered in ep4 (7/8 whatever, lol) that carrots are YXG's favorite, at least on XHT's observation, haha!

the earliest it gets out with subs is on Viki. About 2-3 hours after the episode airs in Taiwan, they already have the subs available. But it's paid (on subscription basis). Maybe KissAsian but I think it takes a day after the initial subs are available.
Regardless though, I'm still grateful that they release the subs very quickly (just 2-3 hrs after the episode has aired).
But i guess, at the end of the day, to each their own. All i know is that im in love with this show. :)
