I'm about to start ep2, but so far this is a pretty solid show! This is my first ever live action GL (which I know is a big shame lmao), and I'm SO glad to see it has gotten the effort and attention from staff that a lot of other BLs have gotten so far. I loved Freen and Becky in SCOY despite their small roles in it and am SUPER glad to see them have their own show. Just like with SCOY, I love the attention to colors, outfits and patterns; seems like they've used the same wardrobe department and set designer as SCOY which makes me very happy!
I was a little surprise to see them showcase in ep1 the issues that both main characters are facing, but I do like how so far, their problems feel pretty realistic and interesting. I saw a comment stating that they don't like how exaggerated the stoicness of Sam is, but I gotta say that I love it. It doesn't feel too out of place considering that some of the other characters are a bit of a caricature themselves.
Also, I LOVED Heng in SCOY, so I'm super excited to see him here. I'm hoping he continues to be nice- but I may be speaking too soon LOL.
Agreed. I get creeped out when there's a good possibility that one of the main actors with a screen partner was…
It actuallu doesn't matter. Not when a large group of older adults got together and agreed to hire a a young actor who was more than likely a minor when he was hired and when they started filming. So even if a show is as PG as it can be, there's still all of the behind-the-sceens discussions and choices that were made. Let alone all of the workshop sessions and stuff both actors had to go through to get comfortable romantically with each other.
I think the IDEA behind Mayom taking Teng's phone is to show that Mayom was not only willing to announce their…
Yeah, I get why Mayom did it, and I understand that he can be impulsive. But they expected us to find it cute and I didn't think it was cute at all is all I'm saying. And while he can be impulsive, he also had his time where he did keep his distance, so they showed us that yeah he can control himself. BUT at the same time, Teng is definitely not used to the affection and bluntness about their relationship that Mayom gives and shows him. So even though I didn't think it was cute what Mayom did, I can also see Teng having no issues with it because it's something he's always wanted anyway.
And YES, Teng saying that hurt me )): Poor guy...I sometimes wish they had delved a little deeper into Teng and Tan's relationship, but what we got was good enough.
honestly i really wanted to like this one because i like the actors from their previous works but is just to bad,…
"i think they tried to make the show better mentioning same sex mariage and laws etc but was so random that seems forced,500k words about love this, love that, on the final episode but they didnt really acted on it."
I absolutely agree. It felt SO random when they'd suddenly talk about gay marriage and them worrying about being able to actually marry when their own relationship is full of hypocrisy, toxicity, and a severe lack of communication.
It's all speculation from my understanding. But purely based off of how they ended things in ep11, I'd almost assume there would be. However, I could also see them sloppily ending the whole show in final episode.
I wasn't planning on posting anything this week, but after last night's episode....Sigh.
I completely forgot that there were people saying there'd be a season 2. Has that been 100% confirmed? I don't follow any of the actors or the company, so I have no idea.
But seeing there may be a S2 is disappointing. Because they could've easily taken the whole story (of the drama, not the books) of S1 and S2 and put it in one season. Here's how I would've done it:
Start the show out of context: pretty much start with the whole scene where Kuea looks uncomfortable at the party; include the conversation he and Diao have to give the audience a good idea that things leading up to this moment were not good. And then have Zee propose and Kuea declining it with him running off crying. Episodes 2 and parts of Episode 3 would show how we got to this point by showing examples of miscommunications and all the secrets, etc etc. Because lets be real: S1 could be dwindled down to like 2 episodes. And then Episodes 3.5-12 would cover the actual, healthy progression of LianKuea, and then YiDiao would have the stuff that happens in their book happen at this point too.
I actually have no issues when a story at some point wounds up right back at square one. Sometimes, it works very well. But with this show...no. They dragged everything out for 10.5 whole episodes where the same thing happened every episode with very little to no (mostly no) progress. I'm glad Kuea declined it. A public proposal barely 24hrs after they had the argument about his family's finances? Really?
I also really don't like that Nuer and Syn's first kiss was accidental and in public. The writers for the show have a Thing for public kisses, huh? In this case, most (if not all) of them have been mad uncomfortable. Team "NuerSyn/TutorYim Deserves Better"
I will say though, the acting was pretty damn solid as usual.
I still hate NueaToh BUT Billy and Seng did a fantastic job this episode- they've been doing extremely well this whole time.
The best part about this episode were the SkyJao moments!! I honestly didn't think they'd give us anything sexual with this pairing, but damn they proved me wrong! They didn't go as far as they have gone with NueaToh, but I'm perfectly fine with that. the bit of heated kissing we got were so perfectly done. These two also did a fantastic job this episode, too!! And I ADORED all of the cute pinks in Jao's room SO much. Besides that, the conversations Sky and Jao have had so far continue to be amazing and very heartfelt. I'm *begging* IDOLFACTORY to put Heng and Surprise as screen partners in another BL- and to make them the main actors!! Their chemistry is through the roof.
The stuff I hated about the episode: I remember when the first episode dropped, everyone was saying that when it's revealed to Nuea about Toh's stalking, they're not going to make it serious at all. They're going to downgrade it and brush it under the rug. And they did exactly just that. Some of us (me included) called it out long ago, so I'm not surprised. I just skipped parts of the scene lol
To me, SkyJao is one of the healthiest BL couples out there. Which is why I was peeved when they tried to compare Toh's stalking and huge collection of gross items to Jao keeping a small stash of a couple of memorable items. Though I can see why Jao would panic and think Sky would hate him for it because he's seen how far Toh has gone.
Yea as I mentioned earlier, this comment section is kinda like a cutie pie haters community; they only point out…
I'll just pipe in and say
1) Sure there may be a couple of people who only mention the bad things about the show, but there is also a good chunk of us who mention the good stuff. I may disagree with a lot of the narrative and criticize it, but I will absolutely admit that there are some good things about it- and I and some others have admitted that several times. Personally, I don't do so as much any longer because the list of good stuff was stagnant and I got sick of repeating myself.
2) The argument that it's not reality/it doesn't affect reality is nonsensical. Reality affects fiction and vice versa. This is the reason why I choose to criticize this show and others like it, and why I choose to point out and offer opposing views on what I'd deem as toxic. I was once a rabid BL/yaoi fan who believed these unhealthy tropes were cute: so I speak as someone who if you'd have shown me this drama years ago, I would've been defending the hell out of it, too.
3) I haven't seen a single comment that states the sex is gross just because it's sex. That would be ridiculous. You get into BL expecting sex to some degree sexual activity, so that would be odd. But if you read the comments, you'd understand that some people were grossed out by the context, not by the act it's self.
This isn't a fan page. This shouldn't be an haters club either. MDL is usually a quite good place to discuss bout…
Those of you who love the show can absolutely post here. No one's stopping you or demanding you stop posting because you love it- which would be incredibly rude to do. I've personally have not come across any post where OP loves the show, and then someone berates them for it. I have actually been on an MDL page that was actually like that, and this page ain't it as far as I can see.
One of the interesting things I’ve noticed is a lot of people claim to hate the show and have a lot to say but…
IDK about anyone else, but I want to give this show a proper review- and to do that, one must actually get through a story you want to review. I want to give solid examples and reasons as to why I think the show isn't great, instead of just saying "oh, it's awful, don't watch lol :)". Also, even though they've garnered all that attention, is all if not most of it *actually* good attention? I've heard that there are a lot of people sharing their disappointment about the show on other platforms, not just here. And that's good, in my opinion. Maybe Dormundi will actually listen and take into consideration what a lot of people are saying about the show. This is why stating reasons as to why you dislike something can be important. If anything, I'd wish for this company to make something far better than this in the future. In my opinion, none of the actors deserved to act out a story that wasn't executed well and then be made to act out an uncomfortable amount of fanservice.
If anything, what's far more fascinating is that they thought they could push out this ill attempt of story writing that's derivative of yaoi manga from a decade's past and smother it with popular, good-looking actors actually think it would be massively successful. That may have worked years ago, but within the past 6-12 months *alone* there have been a great chunk of Thai BLs from small and larger companies that had great stories.
That's one thing we ain't gonna do is bash people for having different opinion in regards to CP. You are enjoying…
I don't know about anyone else who is irked out by the child-like nature the screenwriters gave Kuea like I am, but for me it's a combination of things. (Side note: I'm not arguing, I'm just offering a different POV.) Because you are correct: being sweet/cute doesn't equate to being a child. However, there's the fact that he seemingly can't do much on his own such as cooking; I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't know how to clean either. Combined with the fact that he acts this way *and* that the production made sure to give Zee a screen partner who is clearly smaller and more boy-ish versus Zee's bigger, more adult-like/muscular appearance. And then we have wardrobe choices: Lian is in "adult clothes" (suits) like 99% of the time. We see him doing very stereotypical adult-like things, like managing businesses, taking phone calls, owning his own home, so on and so forth. Kuea on the other hand is usually seen in casual clothes that we would also see a teenage wearing, and at times the clothes he wears a a little too large; normally when someone thin/small wears clothes that are too big, it's done to emphasize how small they are. The only adult-like things Kuea has done was jam out at the club and drive his sports car/motorcycle on the track- both of which we have no seen him in quite some time. I actually forgot he did these things until I was typing them up. A lot of people have been pointing out that his "badass" persona completely disappeared, and I do agree with that. I also feel like that is far more telling than one may think.
See, I've worked on some films before (specifically as art director which sometimes handles wardrobe), and the thing about production is that everything is deliberate and worked on intensely. I do think they purposefully had Kuea go from seemingly adult-like to child-like in recent episodes on purpose. I only started getting grossed out by it within the last 2 or so episodes. And this change *just* so happens to be right around the same time that they started having sex regularly. Which, for me, amplifies the gross factor.
It's totally fine if you don't see it this way and want to continue viewing it as something else. Just thought I'd share my two cents to everyone else.
Help. I am confused. Is the thing that Yi "did to" Diao the bit about his dog biting him when they were like 5…
I believe you are correct. I've read from some people that in the book, he was almost attacked by Yi's pet panther (or tiger?) and it was so traumatizing that Diao got amnesia...or something. And either Yi or Yi's dad had to kill it. Also from what I've gathered: in the books, Diao's parents/family want him dead for some reason (and Diao isn't aware of this, I think) and there's a whole Thing with that that I'm sure also affects their relationship....in the book.
But in the show, uh...he almost got attacked by a dog...and he doesn't remember that? And Yi thought it was a great idea to buy him a dog without fully figuring out if he's okay with them first. There was a small interaction with Diao and his dad that honestly seemed like it was totally brushed off.
If I'm mistaken, then someone can correct me. But believe that's it.
The thing is, everything Kuea "hides" from Lian is only about Kuea himself. Kirin, his studies, his hobbies...…
Exactly. I made a whole post about it a while back that basically dwindles down to the fact that, yes, they're both lying, but Lian has the upper hand because of how big and impactful his lies are. Kuea's lies are smaller in comparison. I do think it's interesting (not necessarily in a bad way) that some people think Kuea's lies are much worse/more hypocritical than Lian's.
