femme, openly gay male characters are usually the comic relief ones in these thai bls, so it's been very refreshing watching this where they're finally the main character! loved ep2 a lot!
wait a minute....Is Pop going to have a romance with Nut or Pop and Lee will be a second couple in this series?…
It seems like Pop's character might have a thing for Nut's character. So maybe a love triangle situation where Pop's character doesn't get with Nut's character. I didn't expect Pop to have a romance, but I definitely wouldn't mind it!
I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode! I've only but recently started following Nut on ig, and it seems like this in this role, he's much more in his element and I LOVE that for him. I somewhat didn't expect the topic of gender to be pushed so forwardly- but I like it! I'm not all that familiar with gender representation in Thailand, so I'm excited to learn a bit of it through this show, especially since I'm far more familiar with western (specifically American) queer/gender identities. I'm all about how different cultures explore and express identities, so this is neat.
I've noticed that Prince uses she/her pronouns. I love that.
The story is very interesting too. A twist on historical events? Very fun! Can't wait for next week's episode :)
WELL....it's over!All I can say is:1) I can't WAIT for PingNut's new series! It drops next week, right?2) I desperately…
Me spending the first 15mins yelling at my screen like "STAB HIM IN THE THROAT?? HELLO??? SHOOT HIM IN THE THROAT- SOMETHING??"
Very disappointed there wasn't more Kenta and Kim moments )): Or honestly more moments with the side couples in general. They needed ooooone last episode, imo. I would've loved to see how Chris and Pete got back together, or how Sonic and North made the long distance relationship work.
The triple take I took when I saw Winner at the wedding?? That was him right??? The behind-the-scenes wedding photos and clips are a lot cuter than what happened in the show itself.
I can't be too mad at Willy for taking his sweet ass time with his sixth sense ability because, well...this is Willy we're talking about lmfao.
1) I can't WAIT for PingNut's new series! It drops next week, right? 2) I desperately need a BenzGarfield main couple story. ASAP, please? 3) I laughed at The Ending Scene cuz why were certain characters there lmfao 4) Despite everything: better than season 1 for sure.
I think the reason he cares so much about Way is possibly partially do to some guilt? Because it seems like in…
Oh I do agree with you on that actually! And I think the way Pete treats Kenta does highlight how Kim treats Kenta (better). Like arguably Kim's the only one that treats him as a human first and does try to stop him at times. Hoping for more Kim and Kenta bonding moments 😭
Maybe it's because I really like Pete's and Chris/Way's actor together, but their character ship is my fave and…
Also I wanna point it out here too just in case: The part in the previous episode when Chris was going through Pete's office and he found the files, there's a moment where he focuses on a specific one and the camera zooms in on it. IDK about the rest of y'all, but I had to take screenshots and use google translate to figure out why this was so important. According to the translations, it's a file on Pete from when he was a kid and it specifies that he has mind reading abilities. If the translations are correct, this would imply that Pete isn't just some human lie detector. This would imply that he can tell someone is lying because he can actually read their minds/maybe go through their memories. Which I think is HUGE difference, especially for Chris' character. Just a little food for thought!
Maybe it's because I really like Pete's and Chris/Way's actor together, but their character ship is my fave and…
I honestly love Willy's character, and it's probably because his actor is doing SUCH an amazing job. I initially hated the idea of him being involved with Tony somehow, but I did end up loving how he too is a victim of Tony's and how he's in a situation where he could've been one of the good guys, but ended up in an unfortunate spot. Doomed by the narrative, if you will. Of course there's some of the really nasty stuff he's done, like almost rpe Babe and even kissed him in the most recent episode. However, it doesn't diminish how well written his character is so far, imo.
Not gonna lie....I laughed when Winner and Dean, I guess....drove into each other?? And the explosion happened? We don't know if they survived yet, but it made me laugh because Winner is SO funny to me. His actor does such an amazing job playing this pathetic character.
The Sonic-Is-Sus-About-Dean side plot is wonky to me. I don't hate it at all and it makes sense in general and for Sonic's character who was gone for a year, but I'm not crazy about how sloppily inserted these little moments are. For me, the suspicion is the least interesting part of the story. It feels like a failed red herring and if it does turn out that Sonic is right, then it'd fall flat imo.
So far, S2 is waaaay better than S1, I'm glad I decided to keep watching it!
Maybe it's because I really like Pete's and Chris/Way's actor together, but their character ship is my fave and I'm very excited to see more of them. I think they could have a very interesting shared survivor's guilt situation, but with the nuance that Pete's has something to do with a guy that looks exactly like Chris. I haven't read the original story so idk what happens in the end with them, but it has potential to be reaaaal good.
Kim and Kenta is another fave of mine. I know there are people who are complaining about him getting caught so much this episode, but I think there's this lingering self sabotage that he has that could totally explain that. He was made to be a guard dog and guard dogs must so what they can to protect, even if it means putting themselves in harm's way. Plus the area seemed pretty difficult to get out of tbqf lol
I think the reason he cares so much about Way is possibly partially do to some guilt? Because it seems like in…
Yes! I think there could be some survivor's guilt going on between them- but that's wishful thinking on my part, someone who's a sap for that kind of thing 🤭 I think Pete's....lack of attention(? for a lack of better words) towards Kenta is so interesting because one could argue its the same as Tony's. However, I'd argue there's mutual care and trust between Pete and Kenta and thus maybe not much needs to be said between them. Though I agree, a little more interactions between them would be interesting!
I am absolutely loving Kim & Kenta! Kim doesn't have any mind-reading powers or anything of that sort, but he…
I think the reason he cares so much about Way is possibly partially do to some guilt? Because it seems like in this world, Enigmas are very rare and it seems like the two of them were the only ones under Tony's "care" who had this secondary gender. And iirc, Pete was supposed to be the one hooked up with Babe? But he left, which then unfortunately dumped all of the nonsense onto the only Enigma left- Way. And now with this episode we have the extra layer of "Chris and Way are Tony's sons", and there might be a chance Pete knew this already via his sixth sense...?
Outside of that, I'm also loving Kim and Kenta! Ex-Guard Dog with someone who's super caring just warms my heart! I loved Kim's character a lot in S1, so I'm super glad to see he's still willing to help AND that he's the one paired up with Kenta.
So while Chris was snooping around i took a picture using google translate and it said something about mind control/reading.It…
I did the same thing with that file he was looking at and the translations said the name on it was Pete's name. And that he can read minds. So I think the little plot twist here is that rather than simply sensing if someone is telling the truth, he can actually read someone's mind and THAT's how he can tell if they're lying or not. So maybe there's a chance he's seeing more about Chris than Chris realizes. That's how I understood it.
Just finished this and WOW... I've been following Big since his days in Star Hunter Entertainment where he was robbed again and again of good opportunities. And I'm VERY glad they cast him for this story! Every actor suits their role perfect; I would love to see God's and Diew's actors together again in another BL.
It was very refreshing to see what people here are calling green flags: no overly dramatic romantic troubles, people actually communicate with each other even after an argument, consent consent CONSENT, people realizing they were wrong and apologizing, etcetcetc. I don't mind romantic conflicts in these BLs, but I find that they can be waaayyyy to drawn out and feel unrealistic at times to a point where it's offputting.
I was initially worried the story would be a slog to get through, but it does pick up! I'd find myself pleasantly surprised when I'd get to an end of an episode without feeling like there was too much fluff with fill the air, so to speak. It's definitely a slow burn, not similar to other BLs I've seen where they're pretty much a couple by the end of episode 2.
If you want something sweet and simple to watch, then I recommend this one.
That rpe scene was uh.....yikes. The build up and everything was awful. On top of that, overall, it felt like it was part of some completely different show?? The sudden change in lighting style and use of camera angles threw me off. I know BLs/yaoi looove glorifying rpe, so I should be used to it by now. I know KP popularized """bdsm""" with Thai BLs, but man....can we PLEASE move on from that?
I'd very much be down to see Jame and Folk together in another show. If anything, the tension between them at times in this one was pretty damn solid. Something like that but in another story, please. I can see them being in a story where Folk's character is comphet and refuses to believe he's attracted to Jame's character. And the latter entices him more and more. I think they could pull that off really well!
I haven't been in the Thai BL sphere for a long while, but I quite enjoyed this! The cliches and tropes are stuff I've seen in other Thai BLs/BLs in general, so I won't knock it. I'm assuming these are things that're popular over there, and that's perfectly fine. Some folks in the comments acting like they've never seen these before are weird.
Tora's acting has gotten better since I last saw him. I was worried about him and the others since they left SH (thank god), so I'm happy to see him in another show. He's played the top before, so I'm extra curious to see how he'll do as a bottom. So far so good.
I'm not familiar with the other actors, but I enjoyed them too, especially New, Sun's actor. I was pleasantly surprised to see how good he was in the bathroom scene.
In typical Thai BL fashion, there's like 4(5?) different couples in the show. I usually don't care for the high school romances, but I'm interested in it this time. I forget his name, but the actor for the lazy/dumb student who wants to be president is really good. I really liked his acting too.
I'm kind of a sap for nerd/jock stories and I like Tora, so I'll keep watching.
I'm a week behind LOLSo here's my review of ep2: simply put, I really liked it! We're still in introductory phase…
1) I'll start off with the comment about Sam. Personally, I think that if you have a character who starts off as mean for whatever reason(s) and we're meant to like them, then it's more than likely a good idea to also start off either hinting or stating said reason. While I do think it can totally work if you don't do that, I find that it can be tough especially in cases like this where we're supposed to root for this pair at some point. A good example, in my opinion, of how badly this can go is Cutie Pie: they go a very long time not explaining how the mean character was awful, and for me personally it really turned me off from that character to the point where I didn't want him to be with the character.
Now, with this show, I really do believe that they've done a great job so far at having us understand Sam's character. Initially, I thought they were giving away too much info, but with how mean she can be, giving us these details was a good idea. It helps us feel patient with her. It also helps us notice things that Kirk notices, like how she's trying to be nice- even though it's a very weird kind of "nice".
We've seen that she wasn't always like this: her reactions to her sister being berated and abused by their grandmother were very different to how she is now, which is cold and borderline emotionless. I think it's very safe to say that with all of the shit she's had to go through, it really isn't surprising that she's ended up like this. We get glimpses of her trying to be like her old self, which was probably funny and lighthearted, but being very hesitant to do so probably because she doesn't want anyone getting too close to her (because they'll be crudely pulled away by her grandmother's actions) and/or because to her being like that is being weak- something she far more than likely learned from her *terrible* grandma.
I do appreciate that we get to see how she is with other people like Kirk and her three friends from before; even then she's hesitant to let her guard down around them but they understand her. I think seeing other kind people around her allows the audience to think she may not be *that* bad.
HOWEVER, despite all of that, I can see why some viewers would see her actions as too much. Personally, I think they're fine and realistic and kind of comical at times, like the part where she was clearly posing next to her car to probably try and show off to Freen LOL.
I am, however, worried about how they might tackle her character growth- *if* she even has one. I'm really hoping they handle it in a healthy way.
2) I still love Heng and his character LOL. I'm going to be so sad if he turns out to be a piece of shit. The part where he helped Sam ask Freen out to dinner was SO cute. Especially the part where we get to see more of this human side of Sam with the ghost stories. Personally, I love it when very guarded characters who appear mean as hell have something about them that seems very unexpected, like her being afraid of ghosts.
3) I was SOOOOO happy to see Looknam (Jim's actress) in this show!! I loved her in SCOY, and she is just as cute here as she was in the other show. That being said, her character being opposites of Sam is incredibly intriguing to me. She appears to be everything Sam's grandmother wants Same to be: married, pregnant, probably a house wife. I'm expecting some level of jealousy to pop up at some point.
4) I'm hoping to see a lot more of Tee!! Hopefully she gets a cute little romance.
5) Yo, I thought Nop was Freen's brother in episode 1 LOL. I hate to say it, but I already find him annoying- probably because I can see the possible trouble he may cause in the future, and...ughhh. When he said something about "lol if your boss was a man, I'd be jealous", I was like OH BOY....HERE WE GO. I do find him fascinating, if anything.
I'm a week behind LOL So here's my review of ep2: simply put, I really liked it! We're still in introductory phase (I've noticed Thai BLs/GLs usually take 2-3 episode to set things up), and I think they're keeping the pace well! I initially was worried about how much details we're getting so far because it felt like we're getting them too soon, but after watching ep2, my thoughts on that has changed quite a bit.
All the actors are still doing great! I'm still so very glad Heng has a bigger role than I initially thought he would. For a second I thought Freen's acting was a little stiff, but it makes a lot of sense for her character actually.
My thoughts on if I think Sam is being unrealistically mean (something I had mentioned in my last little review) will be posted down below because I will be mentioning spoilers in that post.
All-in-all, I think the show is still going strong!
