Wowie I was going to start this but after seeing the reviews and reading some comments I'm not sure lol people…
I always say in situations like this to give it a shot. Who knows, you may love it! And if you have any questions, ask and I'm sure one of us will answer.
The conversation about boundaries and not saying certain jokes to people even if you're close friends falls completely flat on its face when Kuea not 12 hours ago made a very gross joke about Chinese people eating dogs. *And then* they kept bringing up this dumb "joke".
The NuerSyn scenes were fine. Once again, I'm begging for them to take these scenes out of Cutie Pie and put them in their show because, as always, they feel so out of place.
The YiDiao sex scene was actually somehow worse than the LianKuea one. I skipped both, but I absolutely hate how they've been infantilizing Kuea and Diao the last couple of episodes. That, added to the fact that Nat looks 14 most of the time in this show....that sex scene was incredibly uncomfortable.
This episode had me so annoyed I may just skip that two episodes. The stuff before it was bad, but MAN they somehow managed to make it worse the last two episodes.
Someone was complaining about cutie pie drunk kiss scene and now same thing happened in kp not just that, the…
I definitely saw people criticizing the drunk kiss in the KP page. The issue with the KP page is that it's overrun with people who don't mind/straight up love noncon stuff, so you end up seeing those positive comments more and the ones criticizing the show in anyway tends to be easily drowned out.
Also I'm calling it. This series is actually a clever disguise of exploring an age play kink, where main couple…
Right?? I nearly teared up when I found out about it. I honestly hate it LOL It doesn't help that they have a pretty big age gap (in my opinion) on top of that.
And funny you should say that, because in one of my comments from a while back, I did point out how this is no where near what an actual BDSM relationship looks like. Because there were a lot of people at the time saying LianKuea has some great domsub dynamics, and I was like.....no. Please, no. BDSM already gets represented SO badly.
Also I'm calling it. This series is actually a clever disguise of exploring an age play kink, where main couple…
OMGGGG I hate to say it, but this is so true. A win for all of the baby/caregiver fetishists out there, I suppose.
EDIT: I recently found out that some of (if not all of) MaxNat's fans refer to them as "daddy and son" and use a baby bottle emoji for Nat. So like....yeah. That works towards your theory, tbvh.
They aren't switching, lian is the top and kuea is the bottom
In terms of BLs, they tend to be very blatant and strict with their top/bottom stereotypes. For example, the shorter one is definitely going to the bottom. So in BLs, one *has* to bottom and one *has* to top. And you'll see situations where the top is either peeved at the thought of being the bottom and/or the story makes a joke about it.
Plus, it's honestly very rare you get a couple in a BL where they're both switches or at least strongly hinted at being switches. The two BLs that come to mind right away where they've done this are the main couples in Bad Buddy and The Tuxedo. I would say The Tuxedo was more mysterious about who tops and who bottoms.
Ok maybe I am a bit off but I keep reading this series is 'toxic'. Please enlighten me on the toxicity because…
Exactly what Luna6 said! If you or anyone else reading this is genuinely curious, a lot of people, myself included, have made posts talking about our opinions on the matter that should be pretty easy to find.
However, there are people who for whatever reason(s) simply don't see it as toxic/problematic. And if you are one of those people, then fine.
I just started ep4, and I gotta say: I love that it feels like a shounen sports anime with some BL on the side so far. I dropped You're My Sky, so I'm glad I'm liking this basketball BL so far.
I'm honestly glad to see other's point out how offputting it was that Kuea gave off child-like vibes the whole episode. Furthermore, seeing it with Lian's very adult-like mannerisms, it just felt like a 30-something year old man with a teenager, which is *gross*.
I don't mind an inexperienced adult, but Kuea was not giving off those vibes this episode- honestly, he hasn't really been doing so for a while, and Lian infantilizing him is not helping at all. It doesn't help that their actors also have a big age gap between them.
I was in it for the YiDiao storyline, just to see how they've written it, and WOW it's dragging now. I keep saying Yi needs new friends and nope...he's still talking to Lian. Ugh.
There's, what? 3 episodes left? It's far too late to try and add some brand new drama to the mix that would neatly work itself out, so I have no idea how they're going to drag everything out to make it fit the time span.
I still love this little show. Sad that it's only 8 episodes, but I feel like the pacing is good for a short series.
My biggest problem is still the damn filters they use. I hate the softening effect and I hate the lightening effect they use on Boss' (Athip's actor) face. He's naturally tan, let him be tan on tv!
I'm still so surprised that this was filmed shortly before Gen Y 2. Bonus' (Teng's actor) acting was very good this episode: he was very emotive, which is pretty different from how he was made to act in GY2. Even Tora's (Mayom's actor) acting. He was slightly stiff, but definitely not as stiff as in Gen Y.
The bathroom scene was dumb, yes, but very much on par for what I like to call Dumb Romance Logic lol. So I honestly didn't mind it that much. Plus Athip looked great with his hair wet. Speaking of Athip, I loved the scenes with him in it! Same with his scenes with Poon. I love how sassy Poon is and that was brave enough to stand up to Athip's BS and call him out.
I had no idea who the bad guy for the MayomTeng-Tan triangle was going to be and what reason they'd have, so it being Tan who's very suspicious is pleasantly surprising. I think he's only with Teng for business purposes and that's it.
I know that we speak about this many time but this was the first time when I feel really uncomfortable about they…
I was incredibly grossed out by how child-like Kuea was this episode. Someone pointed out before how it's funny(except not really) that Lian wants Kuea to really be himself, but then Kuea acts like....this. Them pointing out the age gap really grossed me tf out.
The one thing that has been driving me absolutely mad the past few episodes is how they keep trying to shove Nuea and/or Toh into just about every situation.
There's already a tone of NueaToh moments that have been dragged out, so it's annoying when they shorten a scene with another pairing or a scene with another character as the focus so that they can have longer NueaToh scenes. It's even more annoying when a non-NueaToh moment happens and they disrupt with Toh doing something.
I still love the camp of it all, the colors, the chemistry, the acting (I still dislike Toh though), but eventually, the whole thing started to feel like it's dragging. I'm honestly surprised we haven't gotten a scene where Nuea finds out about Toh's weird behavior yet.
I'm at a point now where I think every NueaToh scene is annoying and I wish they'd speed them up. Which is unfortunate because I did like Nuea quite a bit early on.
Speaking of him, my friends think he may be the one to have leaked the pictures. I don't think so, but I almost wouldn't be surprised if they pulled some weird stuff like that with his character.
Now, the show has some incredible moments, like how in this new episode (11), Som and Daisy had that VERY touching conversation. Or how in the same episode, Sky made sure to call Jao right away to attempt to comfort him. I wish the show had more moments like this because when they happen, they are *excellent*. But they are very short lived and it sucks.
If I could have the last 3 episodes be nothing but SkyJao and IntouchDaisy being super cute and comforting each other, that would be GREAT.
Agreeing very much with what michael2206 said! In a story, it's basically that. However, I wanted to elaborate…
As you said, it's common regardless where the show comes from, yes.
In my opinion, this show is badly written. I've even seen people who read the book say that it's not really following the book either. And so with situations like this, producers will try to cover a poorly written story with a bunch of fanservice instead of trying to actually make a good show. Sometimes, it's easier to make a lot of money if your show has hot, popular actors in it who are very good at doing fanservice on and off screen.
I agree that off screen fanservice can be a problem. I'm okay with it if the actors are okay with it. But sometimes, it's VERY obvious that they are not, and that's when I have a problem with it.
Heeey :) Can someone help me?Sorry if it's a silly question... I've been reading reviews here and lots of people…
Agreeing very much with what michael2206 said! In a story, it's basically that. However, I wanted to elaborate on it for a second:
Fanservice is prominent in just about every BL/GL out there; it's unavoidable and a lot of the time, it's very cute! However, in my opinion, it becomes an issue when the story lacks decent writing. At times, it becomes VERY apparent that the creators know they can get away with a poorly written BL if they stuff it full of hot, well known actors and overdone fanservice. I would agree that Cutie Pie is one of those shows.
This show continues to be fun and easy to watch, which I still very much appreciate. I'm still very much intrigued by Phai and whatever may have happened with him and Luck in the past. I'm hoping they don't brush off Phai's overprotective nature as nothing in the end. My friend and I suspect there may have been something that happened and have been bouncing ideas around.
Ep6 was pretty cute, but now I'm expecting something big to happen either in ep7 or 8.
I watched it a few times and enjoyed it every time! It definitely has that very simple vibe that La Cuisine has, which I have been enjoying. Especially with there being a lot of more dramatic BLs out lately.
I have a major soft spot for the rookie SH actors, so I'm still very pleased to see some of them in this show. Also really enjoying the actors from the other company, as well! I have some minor issues production-wise (one of of the major issues is definitely the damn softening filter), but all in all, I'm enjoying it so far :]
It's also really fun to see a BL drama where the main couples start off disliking each other LOL I do like the snappy, almost petty nature of it all.
Here's to hoping they actually drop the subs on time this time (I doubt it)....!!
I've been saying never base your desire to watch something solely on the ratings on this website, and this is such a great example.
And if you have any questions, ask and I'm sure one of us will answer.
