I haven't read the book(s), but does anyone know if there's any sex scenes with Kim and Porchay in the books, and if they've stated/hinted that there will be in the drama?
Thanks!

i am just a ✨little✨ concerned about their real-life age gap
Agreed. I get creeped out when there's a good possibility that one of the main actors with a screen partner was more than likely underage when they filmed a BL. On top of the age gap.

At least we know they’ll come eventually. I just hope they’re not waiting till every episode has aired first.
Same!!

I saw a comment under one of the parts where someone said they took 3-7 days to put subs up after an episode of Gen y 2 came out. I'm hoping it's the same versus having to wait until the shownis over.

Very much agree about the LianKuea stuff. They've made him do awful stuff the whole time and then we're supposed…
" But my issue with it is that he didn't think it through thoroughly. I mean it is his parents and his fiancee" Understandable! I know for some people, the freedom is so important that thinking it out thoroughly doesn't quite happen. Maybe his future plans would've been to just finally break free from Lian and run off with the money he made from playing at Jay's club.

YES I agree that it's SO confusing. Because as you stated (and I had actually forgotten) his parents seemed okay with him choosing whatever he wanted- well his mom did anyway. I do recall his dad seemed against it, but I don't remember if he out right stated he was fine with it in the end. But then they turn around and do stuff like have the maid report back to the mom about what her son is doing and Kuea has to be super sneaky like he's 12 years old and not an adult.

I wish there were more moments with the parents so that we can get a better idea of what their mindset is in all of this. Because it honestly just comes off as them being some level of controlling while being distant and also not really caring about Kuea's well being...But they care enough to not share the truth about their financial situation? Huh? It's odd.

Even with Lian, I had been asking since episode 2 why he's such an asshole. The show still hasn't answered my question and people on here seem unable to as well. I don't mind a mean main character. The Miracle of Teddy Bear does a great job with writing one out, imo. But having a seemingly motiveless mean MC who appears to have no explanation for his attitude and just likes playing with his fiance's emotions is....not great.

Hell, the writing for the show is so Not Good that I have no idea why it's called "Cutie Pie" LOL

Reading your posts and hearing from my friends makes me very curious about the original source material. I may sit down once the show is over and read the books. I'm especially curious about YiDiao's book because one of my friends mentioned something about a car chase and some other stuff and WOW I need details on that. I'll be shocked if they managed to put that in the last 4 episodes.

I haven't read the novel and am going purely off of what the show has shown us so far. Thanks for your input, though.

So, yes, you are correct that Kuea lied; this is something I have acknowledged. However, in my opinion and based off of own experiences and experiences of friends who have controlling people in their lives, basically not all lying should be treated equally. And I feel like there are layers to both Kuea's and Lian's situations that some people are just blatantly ignoring. For some people, lying is bad regardless of reasons and layers. But in reality, it's so much more than that and in some case, it can be a good thing.

Based off of what they've shown us in drama, Kuea's own parents and Lian and even his own grandfather were varying degrees of controlling and manipulation. In situations like this and based off of how these characters have reacted and talked in the past , it really isn't uncommon for people to attempt to slip away and try to do things they know for sure the controlling figures would disapprove of. And they end up doing this *because* of the control; if it wasn't there, then of course the person would be more willing and open to everyone.
In Kuea's case, it's not like he's doing anything terrible like harming himself with drugs and hanging around the wrong crowd. All he's doing is playing music in public, getting a different (yet somewhat similar) engineering degree, and driving around. That's it. It really isn't that hard to understand why Kuea's doing this and to sympathize with him.

Now with Lian...He knows all of this. He has the upper hand because he's aware of the truth on both sides: he knows of the bankruptcy/money issues with Kuea's family and is doing with that what he will AND knows what Kuea has been up to. He has the means of getting all of the info he wants and the means to do whatever he wishes with the info. Info that, mind you, Kuea doesn't know all of and as far as we can tell, has no way of obtaining himself because people refuse to actually sit down and talk to him. And yet Lian chooses to play dumb with Kuea.

All Kuea is doing is finding ways to explore his hobbies and potential career path(s) all while being forcibly boxed in and having to push this narrative that he's this picture perfect person to his parents and fiance who seem to want him to be this way. All Lian is doing is gathering info and using it to control Kuea in ways that benefits himself.

If all Lian is doing is helping Kuea's family out financially (which isn't a bad thing), then...why not just explain that to Kuea? Kuea, who doesn't know anything other than the fake front his parents, grandfather, and Lian put up, has no way of actually starting the important conversation with Lian and seemingly has no way of obtaining that info because no one is talking to him. Lian, however, has all of it and still refuses to talk. Why not just sit Kuea down and explain what's really been going on? And say that he knows of Kuea's activities, emphasize that he really has no problems with them, and is working out a way to deal with the issues. Emphasize that he doesn't want to stress Kuea out too much and is glad Kuea's doing these other things and will continue helping him do these things while keeping up the front that they're totally obedient children to their parents?

And we could've still had a whole story where Lian and Kuea work together to fix the problem all while keeping up appearances and getting to fully know each other. If they wanted some dom/sub elements in this story, they could've still slipped that in there, absolutely.
And then the YiDiao story could've been a true foil to LianKuea because we'd see what happens when you don't talk to your partner.

OR if he doesn't tell him about the financial situation, why not still talk to him early on? Explain that hey there's some stuff going on that I can't tell you about just yet, but I'm absolutely willing to be as open as I can be so that you feel like you can trust me enough to be open with me? And give Kuea proof that he's willing to do.

Why have this story where the character who has the upper hand is willfully acting dumb and dragging the other character through mud for more than 75% of the show only to reveal that he was doing something good and trying to make it seem like all the things he did and said were actually good? All while treating the other character basically like garbage and playing with his emotions and his love for him? And then on top of ALL of that, we're expected to think that what Lian is doing is cute? We're also supposed to think that what Lian's been doing is hot.

Once again, I'm just going purely based off of the drama. I'm sure the book might have some additional info, but I'm not taking that into consideration because A) this is it's own piece of media and should be able to stand on it's own, but also B) the author did agree to this, from my understanding.
Based off of conversations I've seen and had with people who have read the books, it seems like the drama is very different from the source material. I will say that if that's true, then that's quite unfortunate. There are small details I've come across that seem interesting and would've been great if they happened in the show. We have 4 episodes left, but that's honestly not a lot of time left to properly fix whatever mess this show turned out to be.

Yes! That's also a good way of putting it. They talk and then within 2 seconds they're deflecting and criticizing like no one's business. It drives me nuts every single time. But it drove me even more insane this time because clearly Yi needed some good talking to, and well...they talked as they usually do.

I'd be very interested in seeing Yi talk to just about anyone else outside of him needing to talk to Diao.

I miss the Diao and Kuea interactions. It seems like a pretty common thing in BLs to have best friends SO preoccupied with their own stuff that they suddenly have no time to help each other out. Give me more stories where they're dealing with their problems together. Diao and Kuea could absolutely learn from each other and each other's situations and it'd be GREAT to see that. But that won't happen. I know it won't.

I also don't like how quick Nuer and Syn moved things along. It's very jarring. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they were made up for the show and were not in the books, because it feels like they were tacked on haphazardly.

Forgot to mention: Kuea, darling....you need new friends. Jay ain't shit and Diao is too sweet and preoccupied with his own problems. Jay is *not* the person to be going to with your problems. Clearly all he cares about is getting money, and you fucking things up for Lian is going to fuck things up for Jay. So OF COURSE he's going to tell you to chill out and go with the flow. Ugh

Yi...you also need new friends. Moreso than Kuea, actually. You're only friend is Lian and that's a major problem. And y'alls, uh, "friendship" looks weird as hell and is not normal. A friend of mine who, yes, read the books, pointed out how concerning it was that Yi seems some level of emotionally dependent on Lian. And *that* was the thing that has been bothering me the most about Yi and Lian. I just couldn't figure out how to phrase it.

Unsurprisingly, I skipped the sex scenes and even the post sex cuddle scenes. Y'all already know how I feel about LianKuea. I attempted to watch it and no. Just-........No. No thank you. For the first time ever, I skipped a scene in a Thai BL.

However! I did manage to stick around for the conversation they had prior to the sex. And that was a train wreck of a conversation. We all know Lian wouldn't have said those (very half assed) remarks if Kuea didn't bring up the topic. We *definitely* know he wouldn't have said any of that if they weren't about to have sex. You know those guys who say anything just to get into someone's pants? Yep.

I was very happy to see a Diao and Kuea scene! Because it has be a VERY long time since we had one, huh? Episode 2, maybe? But then they ended up talking about their shitty boyfriends/fiances. When Diao mentioned that of course he knew what was up because he's Kuea's best friend, I was like "No, you knew because Lian didn't change since episode 1". It's not difficult to guess what nonsense he's up to now.

The highlight of this episode was Diao arguing back with Yi and then walking off. I was almost applauding at that point. They are giving Diao some backbone and I'm SO here for it.

I would like to point out how wild it is that some people hate YiDiao but love LianKuea. At this point, I see YiDiao as a foil of LianKuea; as in the stuff they've been doing with YiDiao is what they should have been doing LianKuea. Yi and Lian are very similar yet they frame Yi's actions are terrible and we start off not liking him- as we should. But with Lian, they frame his actions as cute and endearing even though he, arguably, does worse with Kuea.
But with Yi, we already have a decent idea of why he's like this and we do see him struggling with it. With Lian, well....he's just an asshole for who knows what reason.

Nuer and Syn...I would say they were the highlight of the episode, but it felt like I was watching a completely different show when they popped up. I just hope they don't try to do some last minute Nuer and Kuea shit. It's not needed at this point, it's far too late for it in my opinion. Also, we don't need yet *another* terrible top in this show.

I'm still looking forward to see how YiDiao progresses. Same with NuerSyn.

1) I typically don't care about the ratings, but man I hope the recent ratings aren't because of the lack of subs.

2) I went ahead and watched the episode without subs because I was impatient. I just wanted to point out a couple of stuff I noticed: the directing even in just the first episode is better than GY2. Which is great! I wasn't a huge fan of Gen Y's directing, *especially* for season 2.

The acting overall is better too. My favorite SH actors are Bonus and Tora, and they played my favorite characters in the Gen Y series. Some of the actors in Gen Y were newbies, these two included, so I assumed that was the reason why their acting seemed stiff. But WZM was filmed before GY2. They finished filming 2 or 3 days before they started filming GY2. I can tell the acting is better here, which indicates that the directing played a pretty big part in how they acted in GY.

It's VERY nice seeing some of the actors from GY in this show. I was hoping Bonus would play a different type of character this time around and they did not let me down. Even though I had no idea what they were saying, the snarkiness from Bonus' and Jet's character was very apparent and I'm LOVING it.

I'm not sure how YT memberships work, like if you need to have one for specific accounts, but the SH one meant for their account is to access stuff that is behind their paywall. Like, when Gen Y 2 was airing, they were uploading it behind the paywall- with subs.

I thought WZM would be the same deal which is why I kept the membership, but it doesn't appear to be! Ugh.
