Well, as Pete told Sandee in the last episode he mostly just hates Kao because he can't stop thinking about kissing him. So at least some kind of feelings are there on his part. There also seems to be some from Kao too, but Pete is being a jerk about everything.

Pete isn't an asshole to Kao at all in the sequel, kiss the series. In fact he does some stupid stuff just to keep him happy. I haven't read the novel this one is based on (Blue Kiss), but I don't get the impression he acts like the huge jerk he's been acting like for very long.
