I saw the film at its world premier last month at New York’s Japan Cuts festival. The two leads addressed the audience in a taped greeting. Koshi worried about the age difference with Riho, saying it was the first time he played such an old character. I did not really notice the age difference during the movie. Makeup was excellent and facial stubble helped. By the way, the movie was terrific!

I'm guessing that this has something to do with her letter to him.

Just finished the series. It was wonderful (and it was a masterstroke to have a cameo from Matsuda Ryuhei). I was seriously impressed with your subs. Many thanks for your fine work and for all of the notes that gave context. This must have been a difficult drama to translate.

I was wholly unaware of this film. I noticed the raw and subtitles on AvistaZ earlier today. I just finished watching. It's really quite wonderful. I don't know the provenance of the English subtitles, but I found them to be very good, with just a very few personal pronoun issues mainly towards the end (not at all problematic).

And a wholly unsolicited plug... the subber's work is outstanding. It's clear that he puts a lot of effort and love into the process and finds the most appropriate ways of translating the dialog into English.

And I’ve just finished ep5 and still don’t know the answer.

My favorite was "The Secret Message" with Ueno Juri and T.O.P.

Thanks also for the subtitles (which were excellent, as is usual for you). While I'm definitely not the target demographic for this series, I very much enjoyed it. The four lead women, despite everything they encountered during the too-short 8 episodes, were fundamentally decent people. I think that this is what made it such a fun drama for me.

The title of an old Mothers of Invention album seems appropriate to describe this mess: "We're Only in it for the Money".

Well, there was a bit of chemistry among the leads. But I agree with your overall rating. The tragedy for me is that after years of seeing very little of Miyazaki Aoi, one of the more terrific actresses of the last few decades, she ends up in this almost annoying Netflix clunker.

The subs disappeared from AvistaZ. I understand that this is an indirect translation: Japanese->Chinese->English. It looks reasonable to me with just a few gender pronoun issues. I enjoyed watching the movie with these subs. I see that they are now on subscene.

Masterpiece is an appropriate description. I've been wholly enthralled with this drama and the guest characters.
