Don’t know about anyone else, but getting super annoyed with Nawa’s inability to be clear with Phraphai? Like, he has said that he see’s him as nothing more than a “brother”, but there is no way he doesn’t know that he feels more after the necklace and the constant touching. My guess is Phraphai is going to go a bit crazy and feel he was kinda set up for that trajectory.
This was cute, I checked it out as I love Nut, and his pairing in this with Petch was good. I really liked the beginning, little “forced” drama…more about 2 people naturally guided together and the building of a relationship. Unfortunately, I started losing interest near the last few episodes with a drama storyline that was just not needed. Overall it was cute though. Nut, who I started to love in the Pit Babe series, really is a good actor. So for something easy and sweet, this is checking off all the right marks.
Why are their teeth...all black? 🤔 the 1767 era dressing is really pretty. Can anyone tell me what's up with…
I came here for the same thing. I asked google AI: In 18th-century Siam (modern-day Thailand), teeth were black because of the widespread practice of chewing betel nuts. It was a cultural tradition for thousands of years, and the resulting black or reddish-black teeth were considered a sign of beauty, maturity, and social status. Was an great piece of detail they captured
So this was cute, but forgettable. They used some of the older BL tropes, so definitely some frustration with them. It wasn’t bad, but also not great in my opinion. It doesn’t probably help when it’s airing at the same time as some really great BL’s like Shine and Khemjira. That being said, I did enjoy some of it, but If you are looking for something more substantial, then I’d skip this one.
Well, I feel Apo and Miles and the rest of the cast did an amazing job. They said in an interview that this would be a BL for the adults and boy was it. Tackling the politics of that time frame and weaving in love stories. I also appreciated the messy ending, as that is real life. Each actor in this series had such a nuanced approach with their characters. The music in this was so perfect. This really was a great series, but be prepared to cry and not have a “happy” ending for each of the characters.
This series was sweet and a feel good. It starts off a bit steamy, but it doesn’t maintain that same level at the end, so could see if some felt frustrated at the change from beginning to end. I enjoyed it though.
I didn’t know how to rate this one…obviously showing signs they want to do a S2. It seemed to have flashes of other storylines, think “Only Friends” and KinnPorsche (just characters not plots) with a Boston/Vegas&Pete character type. ..plus, everyone is pretty flawed. My main issue was that due to the shorter storyline, they had way too many characters happening all at once so you were unable to get proper character development. Things seemed more rushed due to this…which just made everything a bit more disjointed. Overall, it did make me come back to see what would happen next. However, I wish there had been more episodes and the HS storyline should have been removed, it made no sense to me.
Loved this. The acting, the storyline, the music…everything was so well blended. Plus, I really enjoyed watching a friendship to relationship supportive and for the most part, healthy relationship develop and grow through out the series. Great job!
Hmmm…not certain to how I felt about this one. The 2 ml have great chemistry, but as others shared there are just too many cliche misunderstandings. The ending seemed a bit rushed, but per Viki there is another episode? Maybe that will tie everything together better then this episode did…though this ended like it was the conclusion of the series, so not certain.
This was cute, very cliche though. The ending left me very dissatisfied…like we went through all of this and it just seemed anticlimactic and boring. With how far the BL world has come, this felt like a step back. Glad I watched it, but definitely not a rewatch for me.
did y’all rate this a 7.2 because of the text to speech thing😂 yes it was cringe but I still think everything…
I mean, I found it distracting. I do think it’s good, but when there is such a delay and I think the interpretation isn’t always good…it distracts from the show. That is very fixable though, so hopefully the following episodes will be better. Acting and storyline seem great so far though
I am truly conflicted on this drama. 1.) I did not read it (full disclosure), but I feel frustrated for those who did, who said the other couple are not even in the manhwa. I get it’s an adaptation, but seems like there was a lot of “creative” license here. 2.) I actually appreciate them showing how difficult it is for the 2 ML to “come out”….which can be terrifying for people, especially teens who are subject to so much from peers… 3.) the title (which is appropriate for the Manhwa) is misleading here. This is not just a story about Heesu, in fact we know little about him and his struggles other than he lives with his sisters, has a unrequited crush, and appears to “suddenly” change course in love after his first crush gets a girlfriend. If they had focused on him, I think we would have seen and appreciated his change in affection and it would have pulled us further into his storyline… which, based on the title, we should be. 4.) I’ve seen people say that in Korea this is a brave BL and that they added the heterosexual couple to likely include more viewers and reach a broader audience. I totally disagree…if you are doing a BL based on a BL I think it’s important to stay true to the intent. To often LGBTQ storylines are watered down, for what? to make hetero viewers more comfortable???!!?? Except (spoiler), you are making an adaptation of a BL story…so people are expecting a BL. For a community that is already typically marginalized, I would think staying closer to the original storyline would be more powerful. (Just my opinion). Plus Korea has some wonderful BL’s that focus on the BL couples, without changing the story arch to add and focus on a hetero couple…
The acting though is fantastic…they are delivering, it’s (unfortunately) the script.
I think if this had nothing to do with a Manhwa and was an original storyline (different title too), I’d think it was ok so far. It definitely has its sweet moments. But for those looking for a great BL, I think you would be disappointed at how much they are usually not the main focus and when they are, they are likely sharing the screen time.
This is so beautiful…the scenery, music and storyline as well as the acting are so well blended. It isn’t a “heavy” drama for me, just one that is so beautifully woven.
This is a sweet story, but I did find myself frustrated at times with the story telling. From episodes 2-5/6 there is more of a focus on Chan Yeong and Ji Yu. The last 2 episodes (7&8) have switched back to who I assumed were the main lead couples Hui Su and Seung Won. Anyone looking for a BL focused storyline will likely find the first part of this frustrating as the love story buildup is focused on the secondary lead couple…so totally get the frustration people have over the lack or almost absent LGBTQ storyline. The last 2 have brought the main leads back into focus, but have no idea what the last 2 will bring us. If you’re looking for a strong BL storyline, I think there are other K-Dramas that do better job providing that. Like I said, it is sweet, but not necessarily what I was hoping for. That being said, the actors are all talented and really bringing forth their characters.
This is such a beautiful drama. The acting, script and cinematography are all so well done. I loved the ML’s friendship to relationship storyline as well as their friendships with others that developed throughout the series.
I had seen a lot of TikToks from BL viewers who liked this so decided to check it out. It’s definitely an easy and quick watch, sweet storyline of friends “blossoming” into more. The problems I have is that it felt incomplete which left me dissatisfied. Part of that is that it does end on a cliff hanger, uncertain if they are considering a season 2, but if not, it leaves the story too disjointed. Plus with each episode being about 20 minutes with a total of 6 episodes, character development tends to be a bit lacking. That being said, I liked the actors and the story as I said is sweet. If you’re looking for something light and short, this is a good watch, but be prepared that you also might get frustrated with the ending.
