I enjoyed this. It’s sweet, and I thought it did a nice job reflecting some of the uncertainty that comes with trying to navigate love and friendship - especially when someone is also trying to understand their own feelings and what it means to be queer. It never gets too heavy, and I thought the actors did a good job navigating the story.
The story itself definitely felt familiar, following some of those older BL formulas: boy hates boy, boy starts liking boy, boy has absolutely no idea that what he’s feeling is actually love…until eventually he figures it out. 😂 It’s not groundbreaking, but it works.
There is also a storyline involving a disturbed classmate that honestly felt unnecessary. It seemed like it was added mostly to create extra drama, and there were times when it just didn’t fit naturally into the rest of the story.
I will say that Chen Ke’s constant jumping to conclusions and inability to fully commit frustrated me more than once. But when you look at the time period and setting the story is representing, some of his hesitation and fear also make sense.
The secondary couple brought much of the humor and were really the enemies-to-lovers trope you can identify almost immediately. I loved them whenever they were on screen and honestly could have watched more of them.
Overall, this was a sweet watch. The lead couple had great chemistry, the actors did a good job with the material, and despite a few unnecessary detours, I enjoyed watching their relationship unfold.
This was ok for me. It is cute and a bit fluffy of a storyline…it’s a “feel good” kinda series, but it also left me feeling as if it was a bit lacking. Then again he is a HS student with a crush on a college student so the fluff works for this, but would have liked a bit more…but then again young love can be left at right where they left it…
I actually really enjoyed this one! 😂 BUT… if you don’t like omegaverse, just go ahead and keep scrolling because this is absolutely NOT going to be your thing. LOL.
That said, I genuinely don’t understand why the ratings are so low. I thought Boat and Oat both did a really good job with these characters. This could have gone very easily into cheesy/corny territory, but I thought they both did a great job portraying this whole “we have absolutely no control over this connection” situation. And honestly, I bought it.
I also really liked the side characters, which is always a bonus because sometimes BLs give us side characters and I’m sitting there wondering why they even bothered. 😂 These actually added something to the story.
My one complaint is the ending. I wanted MORE. Not necessarily because it needed another series, but because I felt like there was more story there that we just didn’t get. And I’m putting that squarely on the script/editing and NOT the actors.
Overall, though? It was a fun watch for me. I’d definitely be interested in seeing what happens with the other two brothers, so I’m hoping we get more from this universe. But I will give them credit: it does actually end where it ends annd doesn’t need another series to make sense of it.
So yeah… I liked it. But if you’re not into the omega verse, totally understandable that you’d skip it.
I loved this and loved seeing Boss play such a cringy clingy character that you are rooting for him throughout. Plus I just love Noeul’s character who is just not having it…until he is…lol. This is sweet and not too serious. Be prepared for quirky humor and just relaxed fun.
So let me start with…this started with a bang! I totally enjoyed it. Now I didn’t read it so I don’t know how much the series deviated from the OG, so maybe I would have been less frustrated….but just the constant need for Big Jane to be forgotten or misunderstood was honestly tiring…1st half, sure…second half…started to loose me especially with the amnesia storyline. I mean, it does prove lil’ Jane will always choose Big Jane, but it was (in my humble opinion) too much after this constant yes no yes no battle. It’s a good series and I did toon into it every week… but the last few episodes left me with too much frustration, and not in a good way. Plus there was still so many unanswered questions, don’t know if the story sheds more light onto it, but left me kinda wondering “ok, but why?”. It is definitely though worth the watch, just be prepared to throw your hands up in the air the last few episodes
I liked the quirky characters, but as a non-gamer I found myself skipping a lot of it. I know there are a lot of gamers out there and I would think they might enjoy this a bit more. The friendship dynamics were great and I hope to see Gunner and Newton in something in the future.
Please do not let the 7.6 rating fool you and try it for yourself. I delayed because I knew it would be heavier…
Love what you said. This drama was so beautiful crafted. The last few episodes definitely had me clutching my heart to how real the characters were and how each character was so well created. It’s not a “happy” ending, but an ending that makes sense.
Don't you think that P'Dan and Nut are in on making Jane leave Big Jane so that P'Dan can date him. What's your…
Agreed…or I also wondered did Dan want to make a deal to get lil’ Jane and Big Jane refused or that there was a deal and it didn’t go in his favor. Too many coincidences and obsessive behavior on Dan’s side….a whole exhibit with just ‘lil Jane’s picture, knowing the day of his birth, seemingly to be there at all the right moments. He was definitely the instigator…I’m just not certain if he manipulated Put in the guise that he needs to save his friend or if Put is “in”on it. I bet Big Jane isn’t the only one who studied psych…
Watched the very last episode. This was so good and left a smile on my face. Both Poom and Up played their parts so well and loved these characters they brought to life. I will say though that any scene with Jai Sira was my favorite….I completely loved that character Foei Jai played and the unending support this character gave. The action was great and it was nice to see Up play a more physical role. I saw some people compare the characters of Wayu and Krit with Joe and Ming…but honestly this was way less trauma drama than My Stand-In was and it had a positive vibe and the last episode really focuses in on all the relationships in a good way. Definitely worth watching!
Well, I liked this, but there was real potential that was missed. Overall agree with everyone that the series was too short and had too many emotionally charged storylines to be covered realistically in it. Unfortunately this lead to poor character development. It would have been so much better if each of the characters had their own focus series. It cheated the actors of really being able to sink their teeth into these characters and left me as the viewer kinda blah as I didn’t feel the emotional pull each of the characters deserved. That being said, it was a good watch. I liked the chemistry between the characters/actors, there was just too much underdeveloped storylines to make it compelling enough to rate it higher for me.
How Tf is Lavid a licensed psychiatrist when he's proven that he allows his emotions to completely cloud his critical…
Agreed, I mean his dad just died and there were a lot of psychological components to his father-son relationship with his dad. Add to it, that lots of people actually do go into the psych profession with their own unresolved baggage…lol…it was, I felt, out of character for him…to be so manipulated…so yes I was frustrated, but kinda understood his story arch…but that boy went red flag really fast
I loved this! Peat to me shined as the emotionally unstable Kelvin. He totally took on this character in the best of possible ways. Add to that Fort’s character Veir, who also comes with a flag warning. Everyone should be very proud of the job they did. My minor complaint was in the climatic part of the final episode the music choice just did not fit the scene and for me distracted from the energy of it. Considering how stellar this series was…that is me I think just nitpicking. Overall AMAZING! Loved that this was a “different” type of series for them and showed off a new acting range.
So overall I liked it, but I almost felt there were kinda 2 different stories/vibes happening and for me it didn’t always flow right. The crime/mystery part was great. I really love Chimon as Champ, he really played the character well and definitely had me wondering many times if he was a part of it or was going to die as well. As for JoongDunk, I love them and I loved them in this, but the scenes with them seemed disjointed from the other part. It almost felt that there was a “forced” comedic romance story line and it didn’t flow as well with the more dark dramatic part of the storyline. Sometimes it is nice to have a comedic relief in a drama, but in this case it just didn’t flow as cohesively as I think it could have. In the end, I did enjoy it, I would watch it again…but there were frustrating moments here and there with the overall storyline. I’d like to read the story to see how close the adaptation was.
On wetv the first episode is for free and you don't have to register you can just watch it. Curious if they let…
I just was able to watch the first 2 on Tencent/WeTV…I have a paid subscription. I think if you click the icon on the home page it shows hi lights…I looked it up on the search bar…though I’m certain there is an easier way.
This is giving Single White Female and Fatal Attraction and Misery vibes and I’m here for the very toxic energy Fort and Peat are bringing. Definitely a Red/black flag alert. The story line and the acting are amazing so far. I’m definitely preparing myself as this looks like it is going to be a dark drama with a capital D, but with this stellar cast I am looking forward to the ride. Hope they maintain this momentum throughout the series.
Hi! I stopped watching the series after episode 8, but I'm still curious about the misunderstanding. Could someone…
Basically Than’s brother used his phone. He is the one who got both girls pregnant before he died, so the two kids are half siblings. It comes as Akin decides he wants to try to have a relationship with Than again…so instead of telling Than first, he decides to have Than and Mild meet as a “surprise” at her shop and when neither recognizes the other…”the reveal” is them saying they’ve never met. She reveals the person she was with was a photographer and then Than shows her a picture of his brother. She gets upset and leaves (but comes back later and is accepted by everyone) and Than and Adkin calmly talk about how he let his friends convince him that Than had cheated. It was so under whelming and frustrating as all get out. Especially as we were dragged through it.
