Hahaha yah agree with the part on runyu. The 2Ha book is so much better written I dont think the novels can be compared. Novel TTJ is sick and drama TTJ is tragic and angsty. For the drama CWN, I'm not sure they can make him as tragic as TTJ without the love story. It they made HYX per original storyline, there might be competition. (And we will go crazy) Drama audiences love 美强残 (beautiful/powerful/tragic) characters so LYX is lucky to be able to grab these characters.
I keep thinking how the great general Ye Xiao was a failure of a father. 🤣🤣 His kids left behind at home turned out horrible: YBC (no doubt), original YXW (terror) and good for nothing until the last bit where they try to whitewash his character YZY.. only one that turned out well was YQY

Haha yes it is not too late to learn, especially through watching drama. ( I also started on japanese because i was crazy about anime and j drama! ) I wouldn't recommend learning from period dramas though as they speak very differently. I sometimes have difficulty understanding their words BUT i can't stand most modern c dramas. I don't know why... I read and write English and Chinese, get by with japanese and spoke Canto for the first 12 years of my life. Chinese has got to be the hardest! English is easiest so that's why I'm here instead of the chinese forums!
