Im not surprised. Idol dramas usually have a hard time on Douban. Their reviewers seem to focus on storyline and the more serious stuff.
The front half of POJ was indeed very good but it got dragged down by the rest.

It might have been less of an "issue" if they let XZ have more action and fighting scenes. I guess he just turned up in battle looking gorgeous and the focus was on CY fighting the bad guys.

People initially rated based on the front episodes which were really good. I think its common agreement the second half didnt deliver as well and hence the ratings start to reflect the overall sentiment.
Also the ones who voted first are usually the fans, giving the highest scores. Then the general viewers come in and give it more neutral scores.
Nevertheless, 9.1 is already amazing!
