This drama really gets amazing as it goes on. The ML is a very interesting character and is very similar to "Dr. House" from the american tv show.
The mystery is amazing and the pacing of the show is great. The FL really got on my nerves in the beginning but the writers really had something going with the leads because their personalities come full circle. The FL like the ML both have flaws and when they come together they fix each others flaws. Opposites attract really works well. Finished it and man this show had so much promise, but they went the route of standard melodrama. They wasted so much time on dumb melodrama when we could have got more wholesome scenes with the cast. I wish there were more scenes with the ML and grandma, but there were barely any. There were also barely any scenes with the ML and FL's mom and vice versa.
I get the low rating because there are so many holes in the premise. The story really makes no sense in real life. There really is nothing special about the story. Has all your classic melodrama tropes. The ML is supposed to be this perfect chaebol set to inherit this big business but the ML does not use this to his advantage at all.
I still rate it highly solely on the star power and wholesomeness, but there are a lot of annoying parts of the story but thats normal for melodramas
After thinking I watched all the great 90s-early 2000s Jdramas, I found this one by chance and loved it. If you liked shows like Golden days, Beach boys, Engine, Pride, my beautiful life, long vacation. You will love this one.
However, this one does involve an annoying love square melodrama. It builds throughout the entire drama. I enjoyed the boxing and main leads chemistry but the storyline with the side leads was cringe and I had to skip.

Funny because 3 years later after you posted this comment, I find myself in the exact same situation. I 100% agree with your comment. I prefer this over Mirai for sure though because the golden era of Jdrama is just too good.
10/10 for what it is. A happy go lucky feel good drama. Has the vibe of the old 90s-early 2000s japanese dramas with the vintage Kimtaku.
Like many of Kimtaku's other great dramas, his character here is also a selfish good guy. Wish they focused more on the kids instead of drifting towards the business side of things but I still loved every bit of the show. Some people gripe about the show focusing on developing thermos' but that is not the point. It is the relationships built during the process. One of the main plot points of the show is that the trio can do anything together. I absolutely love the ending song of this show. It has the best vibe and i never skip it.
Regarding romance, there is slight romance which makes it enjoyable. I didnt love the small love triangle but I did like the romance parts.
I absolutely loved this show. 10/10. Had everything I love in dramas. The 90s-early 2000s japanese old school feel. Prime Kimura Takura. The ML's character in this show is great. I love the orphanage and how they developed the characters and relationship.

Definitely nowhere near as good as season 1. The FL from season 1 is gone and there is no explanation. Season 2 is almost the exact same as season 1. They are poor even though now you have 5 working adults and 1 child in the house which is weird. Especially because they eventually have decent jobs and are working overtime. The story is literally the same.
Season 2 is definitely more mature. The first season made Shima like an angel and in the 2nd season she starts off working a night job lol.
Still I enjoyed it. I just downloaded it off raredorama and skimmed through it.
Show is very weird. None of the show makes any sense. They show these emotional moments between characters just to show the character acting like they dont care at all the next.
It has a nice vibe, but the storyline is pretty garbage. There is literally only 1 likable character in the show and it is the ML who does not get a happy ending. Which brings it back to a point mentioned in the first few episodes that nice guys finish last. The ML literally got cucked at the end and the show ends with him being lonely, while every other character gets a match.
Man i really enjoy the feel of these old japanese dramas. I loved the first episode, but i dont really wanna watch a show about a love triangle between a deaf girl and two brothers.
