@ Jenny, I keep checking this thread to see if anyone has read pillow book (finished it) and am so happy that more people are reading it! Isn't DH amazing in pillow book? It answers a lot of questions and since we get his POV we clearly get some reasons for his attraction to FJ.

i want to watch ice fantasy as well! I had been looking forward to it since they announced it because the male lead was someone who i love in palace the locked heart jade and prince of lan ling. Plus...they all have white hair! Something I love on characters (just look at my love for DH). When I finally had the time to start it, I discovered eternal love.

Journey of Flower was the first fantasy I ever watched. It is extremely good. Unlike eternal love, there are less 'direct' romantic scenes. More like a lot of behavior that implies romance because it is a forbidden love. Her Shifu is cruel to her because he maintains throughout most of the series that she is his student however as you watch, it is apparent he also has feelings for her but won't acknowledge it. Basically, he continues to be kind to her, show concern for her, and keep her close without ever acknowledging that there relationship is anything but innocent. Imagine being in love with someone, having to be around them all the time, and yet they treat you like a student, struggling with this guilt, then learning that he loves you, but still refuses to admit it? She endures a great deal of loss in the series but I won't give anything a way. But it is a complicated plot. It is a very tragic show because the female character endures a great deal of awful obstacles; what makes it so painful to watch is because initially everything seems to be going great for her. about halfway through the show, things start to go down south. However, the final confrontation at the end is arguably the best thing I have ever seen in a show. Technically they have a HE, but by the time you get it you may not want it given her shifu's behavior. But if you can handle eternal love and all of the ups and downs (never seen a show with so much amnesia!) i think you can handle journey of flower. I think the main character in journey of flower is most similar to FJ in terms of adorableness/innocence however she goes through dramatic character growth in the series and becomes much more ruthless near the end. I also think the show has a host of very interesting side characters that are better developed than eternal love because there are a number of people who impact the main character's development. the only thing i dislike about journey of flower is that the show is rife with characters who hate the female character for things out of her control, and all the male characters seem to love her. The villains in Journey of Flower are also a lot more cruel and less subtle than the ones in Eternal Love.

thanks for that the beginning felt like it dragged but everyone loved it so i kept watching it...i want to say I got to the point where the man in the wheel chair chooses to 'cut her off' because she chose to go against his wishes.

i lied i am actually going to watch it again i hope i don't watch it 3x like journey of flower lol

i actually started the sound of the dessert a while back but got distracted by another show. maybe i will resume it thanks!

my goodness what to watch next now that is it over? i am going to save goblin for a rainy day but am on a historical roll so next is Lu Zhen; I was going to watch General and I but everyone has said that the novel is better than the show so that is on hold. any other recs for a good fantasy/historical?

The author is actually preparing to write a novel about him....apparently he once had some sort of tragic romance with the ancestor of the demon clan (I think the ghost rider clan in the show is actually the ghoul clan in the novel...I might be wrong) so he gets somebody eventually

really? is it the same universe? is that the original name for 10 Mile peach blossom? can you give me the link?

if you don't mind me asking what is 'to the sky kingdom'? I've recently discovered c novels and have been hoping to read more.

I spent many hours looking on the internet until I found it--it's sad but I could not move on without knowing what happened to DH & FJ since they are my fave couple in the series :D

In Pillow Book (sequel) they have a HE but just like in Eternal Love they go through a series of unfortunate events to get their happy ending. In eternal love, they do not wind up together but based on the novel's timeiline, this is accurate. I don't want to give away all the spoilers in Pillow Book but DH and FJ do have their happy ending

SO =....Eternal Love took liberties with their story. I won't reveal important spoilers. In the first chapter of pillow book DH meets FJ for the first time, he thinks. To make a long story short, DH never noticed FJ as a maid in Eternal Love (the novel). He did have a pet fox but it never took human form, so he did not know it was FJ. It builds a great deal of empathy for FJ because she suffers a lot in her pursuit of DH, but he literally never notices her, which, as they explore in the book, is worse than being rejected because he only begins to notice her 2,000 years after she noticed him. Also, the mortal realm thing that happened in eternal love happens differently in the novel (i..e they never consummate, I don't even know if he ever meets her in the mortal realm). the storyline is similar in that they are not fated to be together and DH resorts to some despicable tricks (believe it or not) to get them together. The author has described DH as her 'most flawed hero' and that there story is the 'first romance' she wrote.
