Tbh, I was SO close to deciding to go in residence this September for university but I just knew I would miss…
But when you're away from home you find you can be yourself in a way you never imagined - it's only when you're away that you realize how everyone else's expectations of you control how you live.
Let's be honest, this is not as good as ITSAY. It's still better than everything else that's not ITSAY, but there is a notable difference between this and the original story. Even between this and Last Night in Phuket.
That was bound to happen when the creator of the original isn't involved.
Anyway, it's the acting. The difference when there are good actors is so gigantic than it's a mystery why everyone else doesn't do it in their productions. Everyone in this was good - even the side characters. This isn't slightly better than other BLs, and it's not even much better than other BLs - it's so much better that it doesn't even fit on the same scale. Give 1,000 Stars a 9.5, this is a 1,000. Billkin is the best there is in BL, and PP isn't far behind. The writing is really good so far as well - another notable difference between this and the mass of BLs. Who knew that an original screenplay could be better than adaptations of mediocre and formulaic novels? Everyone.. Except the production companies.
Note the absence of accidental kisses, tripping and falling so their facesa are too close together and stare at each other until they turn gay, not "I'm not gay, I only love__________", no evil gf that pops up out of nowhere, and most importantly, not one engineer in sight.
Go to about 7:55. Not only is it offensive, it chews up screen time. That took over 2 minutes which could have gone to a gratuitous shower scene. J/K (but not really). There could have been 2 minutes of character development or plot, or just main trio cuteness.
The HR director was unprofessional in the first ep, but to be fair, if those three suddenly showed up at my office it would take a minute for me to compose myself.
That was dark as hell - did everyone understand what they were watching?
Anyway, I think 6 was objectively the best, but not in terms of enjoyment - the secondary embarassment was so strong I had to take several breaks in such a short run-time, plus it was so dark and depressing.
So my ranking in terms of enjoyment (not necessarily quality:
5 4 6 2 3 1
TBH, I barely remember the first three, although the cat one was sort of memorable. The last three were all really good, but 6 was so dark and embarassing that even though everything about it was the best of the series, it's not in my top spot.
Ep 6 is so far the only episode I could watch more than 2 minutes I watched until the end and I love this couple.…
That is a terrifying dystopian view of the future. I think that's probably the case for some people, like the ones that make themselves believe the two straight actors in their current favorite BL are dating in RL, but I think most people can make the distinction between reality and fantasy. I think maybe the greater danger is that people's own lives are so empty and unsatisfying that they will get lost in fantasy - sort of like an addition.
One thing I've noticed when driving is that there are zero kids outside playing - not fewer kids than when I was young, but absolutely zero. A few decades ago, you were outside playing between school and dinner. And the lack of live social interaction carries through to the work environment - my age group values face-to-face discussion, but younger workers find it confrontational and prefer to be texted.
We're going to be so bombarded by AI/VR that homes will likely have escape rooms where there's no technology and you can just be a human for a while.
Also, let's face it, a LOT of people are not going to want to just be spooned by their idols. I'm sure there will be parental settings, and equally sure every kid will know how to get around them.
Kaeng poured whiskey into a not-quite-empty beer glass. I would dump him just for that. I've noticed the writer has no idea how to do subtle flirting - everyone always comes on like a mack truck.
One thing BLs do a lot is a guy holds ou tis hand to pull another guy up, and the sittting one hesitates for several hours before takin the hand. Nobody would leave their hand out that long and endure that level of social awkwardness.
This ep was well-written, and probably the most true-to-life story we've seen (although it's competing with a ghost that comes to life)- and there's an almost total absence of BL tropes, but it was a bit unpleasant to watch.
Kaeng is getting pathetic - he should take the hint and move on. Although this is a BL, so there will be a happy ending. Maybe Payu is bad at sex so it doesn't work out.
Speaking of which, there wasn't that much - one love scene was needed to establish they have sexual chemistry, and the rest just showed enough that we know they're getting busy. There needed to be multiple encounters so we could establish that it's a purely physical relationship.
Is there a version with better subtitles? The ones's I've found are so bad it's almost impossible to understand any of it. If I hadn't read the synopsis I'd have no idea what's going on.
It's upseting in a way that they are streight (again), but I think the way it been made is very good, both are…
Those are all good points. I'll wait ti hear from all of you here about future eps. If theu stop talking about their girlfriends I'll give it a chance.
