That's true (about the CEO being gay) and it's a good point - they deserve credit for that. But the other two mains are so yaoi that it feels like they just ripped them off the page and threw them onto the screen without translating them to live action characters. To me, the scene were Mu Ren was trying to kick Li Chen off the balcony was a perfect balance and actually made me laugh, but other than that they were too 2D for me. Plus two episodes where there's nothing but pursuit of a woman is too much - we at least need to see hints of the BL to come. We got a little bit of 6-year old-level teasing, but that's it.

I think either they needed to humanize the characters more, or alternatively go way, way over the top and make it totally outrageous. It feels a little "meh" right now.

Trapped had it all - characters with depth as well as outrageous OTT. Maybe I'm being unfair and should give this more of a chance, but previous History series were at 100% from the open scene.

I'm dropping this and reading the comments to see if it gets better in which case I'll watch it and catch up with you. Too many red flags at this point and there's so much BL on right now my family is starting to worry about me.

Just about anyone would work for Mix that's in his mid-20s - his character is not very complex or interesting. They can be up to about an inch taller than Earth without it being an issue, otherwise Earth will start to look cute instead of imposing. I don't think previous pairings should be considered at all - does it matter?

He's my Mix list: Singto, Tommy Sittichok, Billkin , Ohm Pawat would be great personality-wise but might be too big. First Kanaphan. Dark horse candidate: Fiat? He's done a good job playing an aggressive character - maybe too sexy though.

For Phupha: forget it. Earth isn't replaceable. Joss has the look, but I don't think he could pull it off. This series would be better than average and very well produced without Earth, but he's what makes it top-tier. I actually poured over a list of every Thai BL ever made and I came up with nothing. Maybe Beam from The Stranded?

For Rung, if it needs to be someone part-white, then Perth Nakhun (My Engineer) or Yoon from YYY.

Yes, I don't mind him pursuing a woman per se, it's just that that's all there was. There needs to be some hint of BL other than a crazy stalker, who was only in it for 20 seconds. But you're right, it's the writing. It's just not funny to me, and it needs to be or there's really nothing here.

Yes, but I give opinions about shows rather than judging other people. You might try that. If you haven't seen my positive comments it must be because you only like shows that I think are bad, because there are many airing that I really like and I am fairly vocal about them.

There I disagree with you. WBL2 would have been great if it had just been a fresh start with new characters, but as a continuation of WBL1 it's so implausible that it ruins it for me, with the characters behaving so far out of character that I've lost interest. But it is well-written other than the characters being totally wrong and very, very well-produced.

I would say "devolving", but yes, at least they're trying new setups. although unlike Trapped, this is about as original as engineering school.

Everyone but me seems to like Mu Ren - I found him more annoying than Li Chen. But I'm shallow and the actor playing Li Chen is really attractive even if his character is awful. But Mu Ren seemed like a carboard cutout and (to me) aggressively unattractive but that we're told is the most beautiful man on earth.

Maybe that explains how he got inside? Or do people in urban areas of Taiwan leave their doors unlocked?

Especially not in the workplace where if you're really lucky, you'll only get a written final warning from HR.

Crazy Fujoshis are the new engineering students. BL writers are the most imitative I've ever seen, and once a trope catches on, no matter how stupid or annoying *cough*accidental kiss*cough*, it's like a ravenous dog with a juicy bone - you have to wait 12 years for the dog to just die.

The acting is either too big or not big enough. There's nothing worse than trying to go OTT and not quite making it. YYY made it. This didn't. Also, YYY had serious themes. And real heart. This doesn't.

I'm thinking of holding a seminar for BL writers about what a workplace is really like. But just as a teaser, it's not about 24/7 sexual harassment and people doing everything with actual paper and folders full of files. At least it hasn't been since the early 1980s.

That had not occurred to me, and that would be really interesting, but I think you may be overestimating this production.

I also really didn't like Mu Ren - he just seems like a Japanese cartoon character tossed onto the screen without bothering to humanize him. An expressionless character can work in manga or a written format, but it's too cold for live action. Li Chen is annoying, but partly because the entire episode of this "BL" centers around him avidly pursing a woman.

This was really awful - what a waste, and what a disappointment. I think you might be right - History has run out of steam. This doesn't even have the production quality that earlier History series had.
