Wait a minute, Ever 9 had to be programmed to say loving words and experience a kiss, so he's got a computer for…
Why can't a robot love? You're just a robot built by your DNA, and you can love. Your thoughts and emotions are just electrical or chemical connections made by neurons firing. What makes you you is your experiences - otherwise you're just a machine. If you grow a clone of yourself, it will be physically identical, but it will still be unique because it will experience different things and who it is will be shaped by those experiences.
So if a robot can be given an artificial brain that can learn from experience, then it's no different than you. Although it can stay cute for 100 years, which most of us haven't mastered. YET.
i love this show alot i just find the fact he keeps having flashbacks of his dog a litttle weird lol
I didn't realize it was so recent - in that photo is arm is in a sling. That changes it a bit for me - the feeling of his dog running away is still raw. Something he loved abandoned him, and that trauma impacts how he feels about Ever 9 because he hasn't had time to properly process it and get over the worst of it.
That makes me a lot more comfortable with it and I think makes it an effective marker of where he's coming from.
he was a bit too aggressive when he kissed him though😒
It was supposed to be - he's worried about consent. He asked, "is it OK if I treat you like this?", i.e. a sex object. Remember, he's agonizing over whether or not Ever 9 is anything but a programmed thing - like a laptop that can walk. I think his conclusion is that he's not, as he said, Ever 9 is unique and irreplaceable.
Much like if you were cloned, all the copies of you would be totally identical, but every one of you would be unique the moment you're conscious, because whatever you learn and experience will be different.
So even if Ever 9 is a programmed machine, there can be 100 of him and they'll all be unique - and what are humans but biological machines programmed by our DNA?
In short, what he did was for purposes of demonstration, not aggression. I don't think he should have done it - he could have made the point verbally, but given his emotional state, I forgive it.
Why not? Kai had a past with Hiro. He could have affection for Hiro already when they were younger. You can tell…
Isn't it a bit weird to carry a torch for someone who was a child the last time you saw them? I think that's a bit weird - and a crush is one thing, but to carry it for 20 years is a bit extreme, especially for a pre-pubescent crush.
Seems to me Thais don't have an art and culture department in their film studies, they don't even have the most…
Humor is not their strong suit. I laughed more during the miniseries Chernobyl than I do watching any Thai "comedy". Except Rak Diao, which did have some very funny moments.
For 30year olds it is too teenagy romance ! but good. The watching age group is mostly 18-34 but you guys love…
He infantilizes Achi and is so obsessive that he drives across the city to sit in his car across the street from him every day after work. That's weird and if not red flag, it's not green flag either. Whatever's in the middle. A brownish-grey flag?
I like Marks acting in Sky in Your heart. In general, I'm a fan of Thai BL. They can do it all: bubbling joy of…
Yes, but they make these series too long and they almost always lose steam as a result. This whole episode was over separating for a month and ridiculous misunderstandings - what does trust have to do with anything? Achi was afraid Karan was sad (which he admitted he was) - that's not lack of trust, it's caring about your partner's feelings. It was manufactured and irrelevant drama. This whole episode (the Achi/Karan parts) could have been deleted without any impact on the story.
Dopamine is a real thing - but the technicians clearly said it was virtual in the robot, i.e. he's progammed to…
There seems to be a disconnect between whatever was said in Mandarin and the subtitles - my subtitles said "virtual dopamine", but apparently the Mandarin didn't make much sense, and maybe the translator just made an assumption. Anyway, my view can only be based on the translation I had, which said virtual.
But does it really matter? The point is that Ever 9 is an artificial being that may or may not be sentient - that's what really matters, and while I think it's clear that he is sentient because this is a BL and not a science fiction series, I suppose that quesiton hasn't been explored or answered. Given the title, I assume his memories can be erased if he's reset, and I'm guessing Yiping will do anything he needs to to prevent that.
I'm kind of mystified that so many people are so hung up over something as unimportant over the dopamine thing, but as I'm apparently in the minority over this issue, maybe there's something I'm missing.
The acting is wonderful, the characters are well-drawn and consistent, it's beautifully filmed, and it's so boring I'm falling into a coma.
Thai writers just can't help themselves - even a whacky comedy is 100% likely to degenerate into a saccharine, formulaic sappy romance. Sorry, but by this point in the story, fist-bumps and forehead kisses are way too bloodless for 30 year olds. Tay and New have great chemistry, but it's friend chemistry, not lovers chemistry. They interact like best friends, not boyfriends. This series is just too long to sustain the thin plot. All this agonizing over being apart for a month? They're not 13 !
The ending was cute, though, and Sing remains MVP. After Star in Your Wind or whatever it was called, I thought Mark was a terrible actor, but he's not - he's really strong.

Remember those Japanese toy dogs that you had to take care of perfectly or they'd die (and always did)? You had to feed them virtually, and if you didn't, they'd starve to death. Except they couldn't actually starve to death, so they only virtully starved to death, just as you weren't giving them real of synthetic food, it was all virtual.
You can program a computer to mimic whatever you want. For example, if someone wanted to, they could program ChatGPT to get "angry" if you call it something not very nice - that's virtual anger. Likewise, if you kiss the robot, it can be programmed to behave as a human would under the infliuence of dopamine.
The technicians said it was virtual, i.e. he's programmed to mimic the human dopamine rush - they're not actually…
You guys are really, really overthinking this. Other BLs are way, way less coherent than this story but nobody seems to complain. Why is a ghost love story OK, but not one involving an artificial intelligence?
The technicians said it was virtual, i.e. he's programmed to mimic the human dopamine rush - they're not actually…
I really don't understand why you keep saying "top secret". His uncle owns the company and he built a robot - it has nothing to do with national security. He can do whatever he wants with it.
What does "you are supposed to be one hand" mean?
I don't see what's self-contradicting about the plot - what specifically do you mean?
I have an eight-seat dining table and there's never been more than 2 people at it, and even that's rare. I also…
I do actually agree with that - Yiping is a teacher, so it doesn't seem likely he earns enough to own a house like that. My only point is he may have his own family wealth independent of his uncle.
I don't think Chu Yiping fell in love instantly - but I think it was quick because he's never been in love and…
Yes, I hope so too. I'm actually a little disturbed by the dog angle - note how Ever 9 sat dejected at the door when his master left the house, much like a dog.
I suppose that might be the central moral conflict - can Ever 9 consent to a relationship? Is he an intelligent being, even if artificial (humans are just biological machines programmed by our DNA, after all)? Is he a mature (18 years + equivalent) intelligent being? Does he have more autonomy than a pet? Can Yiping view him as more than a pet? I suspect it's not going to be that deep and Yiping will just f@#$ him without much moral agonizing.
I admit that it is not as bad as I thought EP3 would be, and that's just for the good looking actors. At the same…
I don't understand your point - can you restate it a little more clearly? Specifically, I don't know what "dumped all incoherences as top secret" means.
