I think you are too hung up on the title and taking it way too literally. Just judge the show on the actual content. In my opinion their behavior is clearly explained by the actual plot.

I think you are giving too much weight to the title. Also you are forgetting the status difference in those relationships. Bi Zhi is a servant who is with a noble born lady and that dynamic is pretty evident in how they work as a couple. Qiao Man and Wei Shao are of a more equal status at the start of their relationship, he would never behave like Bi Zhi.

The main reasons (in my opinion): 1. Severe trauma - he witnessed the horrific deaths of his family members, and was locked in a box for multiple days as a child! Then he pretty much has been constantly at war. 2. This trauma was partially caused by her family's betrayal of his family. 3. He was told by his deeply respected older brother (who then died) to never trust anyone and then he finds himself engaged to his sworn enemy. 4. Combine the childhood trauma and the constant war - he does not know how to interact with women who are not a part of his immediate family. 5. She is actively plotting to protect the interests of her birth family even if those go against what is best for the Weis.
That is a lot of terrain to cover, so him thawing towards her took a lot of time which was understandable - he had to move from severe distrust / hatred to where we got by the end of the series.
Picking this series up after putting it on hold for a year! Just finished Episode 4: Likes - I have grown to really like the stylized direction and cinematography of the series, the music, and the focus on how these artists come together to make a unified sound and their interactions with other bands. Dislikes - Akane and Naoki's burgeoning relationship. She is just in permanent hero worship mode and they have no romantic chemistry, it gives off Mentor / Mentee vibes to me and that is all. Naoki has better chemistry with Yukino or Sho. Akane has better chemistry with Kazushi.
I have definitely seen her in more than one drama, but none of the ones officially listed lol. Maybe MDL needs a dedicated Vertical / Short Drama volunteer :)
