I think most people with Asian parents will understand this mindset. In their logic, higher education = higher self-value → better chance of meeting an equal or higher-level partner → better partner → better life. It may sound transactional, but that's genuinely how many parents see education and marriage.

He's probably the most useless SML I've ever watched. 😂 The ML has known the FL longer and has put way more effort into their relationship than the SML ever did. Honestly, I wouldn't even say she broke his heart, he never really had a chance because he spent most of the time just liking her silently.

Hu Yitian has also already carried male-lead roles before, while Lai Weming hasn't. And honestly, Lai Weming is kind of skinny; Hu Yitian has a better build for a male lead.

How is the male lead annoying when he's literally green as a forest? 😂 Either you didn't comprehend the story, or you didn't bother reading the dialogue. The man is practically a walking green flag.

She didn't have much chance of surviving anyway, with or without the new treatment. She recorded the message beforehand in case she didn't survive the treatment. So the fact that the message was delivered basically means she didn't make it, and her family probably sent it from her phone as her last wish or something like that.

Too polished look = AI ? Smh.

That's not AI for God Sake. Even the puzzle they called it AI when it's literally in every scenes, they even have real picture of it. Take a look at their BTS and see how much effort the director put to make dreamy vibes. He used colour filtering, not all aesthetic things automatically AI.

Except that this is not fully youth drama. So judging this drama from "high school drama" pov and expect it to have teen spirit is kinda lost the point of this drama. Half the drama are taken place their adult era. They even have intimate scenes and people complain the actor are too old ?

The chemistry is one thing, but adding a heavy plot on top of other storylines that haven't progressed yet just eats up the screen time. The SML is supposed to be SML-ing, but he hasn't even made any real progress with the FL. At this point, they might as well not have made him the SML in the first place. And we still have the brother storyline and the third couple, who now have another possible love interest too. Smh. Stop piling new plots on top of unfinished ones!

I don't really care about the patient storyline. It feels like a waste of screen time when they could be using those episodes to develop the leads' relationship instead.

From her POV, she'd consider him "selfish" for ruining his own life without letting her help. They were genuinely good friends, so if he was having problems, they could have faced them together and tried to find a solution. He didn't have to give up his studies or disappear from her life without saying anything.

She's actually pretty good in First Love, especially considering how cliché the script is. Genius Girlfriend is also full of familiar tropes, but she manages to make them feel fresh and believable.

Honestly, POJ probably wouldn't have reached the global level it did if her acting were only mediocre. She's one of those idol-drama actresses who has a lot of facial expressions and can deliver lines in a way that feels natural rather than like she's just "acting." In Between is another modern drama that shows more of her versatility, although that's definitely not for everyone because basically all the leads are red flags 😂

That scene, and especially the way she looked at him when she saw him again for the first time after five years... I can't. She looks so pretty, cute, and sweet when she cries that I suddenly feel like I need to protect her. 😭

He's always been warm, right? My personal favorite was when Lin Zhixia woke up in the middle of the night and he calmly told her to go back to sleep. He's always been so soft toward her. Honestly, that alone gives me butterflies, lol. 😭

Not really. The story spans into their adulthood, so I'd rather see the cast age up naturally than have baby-faced actors playing adults while still looking like high schoolers.
