Title The Red Sleeve Spoiler
I cried buckets when Deokim waved goodbye to her old self and also when San saw Deokim belonging: the letters,…
THAT PART 😭 That was when I broke and after that I pretty much didn't stop crying until the end. Her standing there watching her old self happy and walking away......I'm going to start crying again

Honestly, same, especially the fisrt eps i feel like they could have been so much better, like Lee San fell for…
Oh interesting, I really liked the first eps and personally found his feelings believable. But I think things got kind of rushed later on. I wish we saw a more gradual transformation from CP to King because the difference in his personality was so stark. And it feels like arcs that they could've explored longer got wrapped up really quickly...but I can say I am never bored while watching :)

This drama has seriously flown by! It hasn't been perfect for me but I never stopped enjoying watching even if I have criticisms. Honestly I wish it were longer.....and I hardly ever say that about dramas πŸ˜… I can honestly say I've loved pretty much every character. They're all so interesting I want to spend more time with them all...Court Lady Jo, Wol Hye, Queen Jung Soon, and yes even Deok Ro and Princess Hwa Wan. Kudos to the writers, and to an amazing supporting cast who elevated the drama alongside our incredible leads πŸ‘πŸΌ I really will miss this drama.

I think it was done to give women a bigger role? Since the novel is much more focused on Deokim, whereas this…
Yeah exactly! It does seem like that which feels kind of disappointing. It makes the drama seem less complex/like it's for a younger audience (if that makes sense) when previously it felt very adult and serious. But of course I will hold judgment until I've seen the whole thing :) Hope you're still enjoying it!

It's not the inclusion of the plotline itself that disappointed meβ€”I think it's super cool and I love having female antagonists! :) It's just the way the show was framing them in the narrative, AKA being very heavy-handed about them being villains. I worried that the side that supposedly wanted to protect the court maids was being framed as "bad" whereas the side of the Crown Prince was "good" when in my opinion the court maids have every right to want to protect themselves and even are justified in disliking the CP. I'm not caught up on the recent episodes though, and will be eager to see how it shakes out :)

Title The Red Sleeve Spoiler
Am I the only one a little disappointed with the angle they seem to be going for with the Fairy Palace thing? πŸ˜• After this last episode it seems like they're going full steam ahead with villainizing these women. Court Lady Seo's conversation with Deok Im about how the Fairy Palace started as a way to protect court ladies but 'now they're evil' (paraphrasing lol) made me roll my eyes a bit, as I expected this show to be more sensitive to their marginalization even if it positions them as antagonists. They might end up subverting this in future, and don't get me wrong I love a good female villain ahaha, but I do feel a little concerned about how the show is going to frame this. It feels like punching down a bit, and feels weird after the first few episodes felt like they were really sensitive to how these women are vulnerable...especially the fact that they seem to now be positioning Deok Im against them as she joined in on the whole 'those women sound so awful and scary!' thing πŸ˜• Anyone else feeling this? Still enjoying the show though and I hope it surprises me with some more nuance 😊

Title Inspector Koo Spoiler
I'm thinking this whole thing plays out like the 2003 US movie 'Identity', where all the events are happening…
I haven't rewatched the scene, but the way I interpreted that scene is that K did actually push the woman to her death, but was disassociating through it so she didn't quite realize what she'd done until after it happened. Kind of like when you space out while driving and don't realize you've made it home until you do...but the more murdery version 😝 I don't believe the supernatural entities are real but are indeed just an indication of K's mental state. The sneeze was just a clever little way to represent that transition for the audience...but I feel the point was that K was in such a bad mental state she hardly realized what she was doing.

does anybody think this show might need more than just 16 episodes .. or maybe they won't really dive in much…
I rarely think shows should be longer.....but I might agree in this case. So many big things are happening every episode and I hope they'll still have time to slow down every now and then to give us some good conversations and character moments. But maybe I'm just feeling greedy because 8 episodes have gone by so fast! πŸ˜…

My goodness, Deok Im is such an amazing character. I love both leads but she is shining in this story, and Lee Se Young is doing such a great job!

Wow, I'm surprised by this! Personally I find him terrifying exactly because sometimes he just comes across as nice and grandfatherly. You never know when he is going to snap and turn violent, which is so much scarier than if he was awful 24/7 😬 The actor is doing a great job!

Not me anticipating my next fix of this drama more than my own birthday lmao. Rather I should say the episode…
Happy birthday! Being so psyched for a new ep of a drama honestly would make my bday too fdsklflkds. Technically we'll all be celebrating with you then! 🎈

Hopefully, the success of this dramas heralds a new age of more serious melodramatic historical shows. I've sorta…
I second this completely! I have enjoyed some of the fluffier historical dramas, but it gets old when that's ALL there seems to be. I've been worried that trend would continue since it seems to be what's popular lately...but I think a lot of us are craving a serious sageuk to sink our teeth into! Here's hoping 😭🀞🏼

I didn't even know it was airing until someone said that Hong Nae was in it. It wasn't really promoted on Netflix…
I didn't see much promotion either but I don't always pay much attention to that ahaha. Glad you're liking it so far!

Nooooo what!! Waiting for next weekend is hard enough. Anyone know if it's just Netflix delaying or is it really not airing until Dec 4th?

i don't see it as unfortunate tho. it's his first "gay" role in television, so how it is typecasted. and his character…
Agreed. Every actor in the world would be "typecasted" if we said this of anyone who played a straight character more than once. Plus I haven't seen the movie but it seems like he's playing a fairly different character here. And I too feel like Keon Wook and Dae Ho are explicit at this point in the show! :)

Don't usually pay too much attention to MDL ratings or popularity, but the lack of love for this show is so disappointing! Sure it's not perfect (what show is?) but there's so much to enjoy about it. It juggles its comedy and serious subject matter well, has interesting female leads, side characters I care about...the direction is really creative, the ost is amazing, acting is great from everyone, and it's also just really fun to watch. Don't want to drag other shows down to raise others up, but I've seen worse this year get tons of hype. Sad to see so little appreciation for a gem like this. If the remaining episodes are just as great it's going on my fave list ❀️

Is there romance in this?
So far, not much! A little romance going on between the side characters. But even if you're someone who wants romance in all your shows I'd really recommend giving this one a go. It's so fresh and fun with great character dynamics.
