if I'm not being biased haoran and jackson yi and wu lei tops this list in terms of acting capabilities but if…
This is a perfect observation. Now in 2023, it's crazy how your perspective has been cemented. The star value and popularity is a big factor too because Yibo was able to secure a co-star role with Tony Leung!!!
I feel like LHR, Jackson, and Wu Lei are too well-behaved and don't have the crazy psycho fans that will push them and make noise no matter what. It's a good thing but in retrospect...
我不能说,但有些事情不对劲。I've been following LHR for years and feel his pace is severely stagnating. He's already a part of the Film Theatre and is well-known amongst his generation for his acting, professionalism, and healthy (not rabid, weibo-psychotic) fanbase.
So what's up? How is it that Wang Yibo was able to co-star with a big name like Tony Leung before LHR or Guan Xiaotong? No disrespect to Yibo but, just....wow.
Disappointing to say the least. Anyways, when will Breaking Ice be released to the public?!!!
Oh he is 25 now I guess him and his team never like to take the romcom route and just focus on movies ? Kinda…
LOL nothing is wrong about avoiding the rom-com route. The issue with his career (and some of this worry can be found in more depth on Chinese SNS sites and blogs) is that they're too afraid of well... anything?
They're focused on making him a 'serious actor' and going for the meat everytime. But this fear has made him too stagnant, especially considering the way he blew people away with NIF2 and The Legend of the Demon Cat.
He's a good actor, but he isn't accepting enough roles and movies that will cement him in people's minds.
The only things going for him at this point are that he is unproblematic, has a healthy fanbase, and is mild/good-natured. But if you see his past interviews, he has a burning passion for scripts, reading, and taking on new roles. It's just the movies he's starred in are not promoted well-enough / have issues going into theatres right away (except for Detective Chinatown, which is a schtick that might be growing old quickly).
Sorry for the paragraph, I just get very excited about discussing the course of young actors' careers.
They better not come for Jessi or Chungha. Please idols play it safe and do as much research as possible.
