A "bad actor" that is getting first roles offers continuously since his debut in 2018... When I was a kid my mother used to say to me "Don't say it's bad, it's just that you don't like it". Just saying.
"Kim Ji Hoon has thrown his hat into the ring as his first king character since his debut." ==> 2009 "The Iron Empress" King Hyeon Jong // Support Role.
I understand that Kim Ji Hoon own words cited in the source article are confusing (I actually don't understand them), as he stated that this will be his first king role but the articles also mention that this is his return to historical dramas since 2009, so there is big lack on the fact checking here. But instead of just translate//copy/paste someone else article that can be wrong (and all the articles on this are wrong because they all share the same things, so I guess the first one that serves as source is the problem), it would be better to check the facts and information, especially when you link the profile page of the actor in the article, profile page when you can easily check the information. This isn't a "writer" or "editor" work if you just copy/paste others writings, especially if it's wrong.
I hope he wins the Best New Actor award at the Baeksangs, and his two dramas “The Tale of Lady Ok” and “The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call” are also nominated, Ju Ji Hoon for best actor too. Happy for them.
And no nomination for the Baeksangs... Poor Chang Wook. But at least "Revolver" received several nominations, which is a confirmation of what I thought, a good movie but not for the mass audience, and Jeon Do Yeon is nominated for best actress too.
This one seems to be in line with "Lovers of the Red Sky" or "Mirror of the Witch", a Joseon type set-up with fantasy elements. Why not, it might be a good entertainment, but I don't expect anything groundbreaking though.
That's not it, you're twisting it around. It's about the issue of Yoon declaring martial law. It was, just for…
"quite terrifying" ? You were there ? Are those your feelings based on how you saw the news through you screen miles and miles away ? I have friends and family in Korea, some that support the president, some that are very against him. None thought it was "quite terrifying". Disturbing or worrisome, hopeless about the political situation, maybe. But not terrified. Even when the communists from the North are becoming very menacing they aren't terrified, concerned and worried at most.
As for first sentence, it was obviously an exaggeration, to mock actors. I don't even care about IU in particular. This sentence clearly shows the purpose of my comment : "Good for her if she wanted to spend money to support people who think like her, how does it concerns MDL ?"
Me and many others are tired of the so called news on this website that have nothing to do with dramas or movies, when many others news that does concern actors in links to a drama or a website are totally ignored if it's not about the top ones. That's it.
I'm giving this a try again. I stopped at end of Ep 3 and so much time has passed I'm having to start completely…
That's nice if you're enjoying it so far. It's a long run with its 50 episodes, we are not really used to it anymore, but I think it's nice to have dramas that you can watch over weeks and months, it removes some "pressure" that the short formats nowadays have. You know the end is far away so you appreciate the developments more, even if by moment things are repetitive or not very original. That's the case for me at least. ^^
"Dong Yi" is a true masterpiece and "Yi San" is very good too. I really miss watching sageuk like that. I haven't much to watch these days so I might try to rewatch one of them. "Jumong", "Queen Insoo" and "Empress Ki" are also good candidates.
My list of sageuk dramas watched isn't complete, I still haven't watched some old sageuk, and I totally avoided some recent rom-com sageuk with idol actors I really can't stand, but it's a good overview of what was done in Korea the last 30 years I think. I'm glad if it can be used as reference for people.
What a ground breaking news, another actor is a leftist and used his wealth and position to try to "enlighten" the poor dumb people.
This is basically what many actors do in many countries over political or social controversies. Guess what ? It doesn't matter, really, look at the USA, people don't need some privileged "artists" to tell them what to think or how to vote. Good for her if she wanted to spend money to support people who think like her, how does it concerns MDL ? What's the link with the drama she starred in ? There is none, once again, it's just a bait article because it's so much fun to talk about crap instead of the original purpose of this website. This is becoming really hopeless.

That's good. As I wrote back in the days, I think it's a very good sageuk (I rated it 9 stars), especially compared to all the rom-com sageuk we have every years now and that are basically just rom-com set up in an historical background without any reflexion on how a romance back in these times should be portrayed. But "Splendid Politics" is not an accurate sageuk indeed because it doesn't respect the historical facts regarding the historical figures it portrays (something I am picky about, especially if the overall drama isn't very good). Not a problem when nothing his known about these persons and events though.
Y'all are insane. Deny this man work for life because he cheated on his gf? Would have thought he commited murder…
People are free to dislike someone as an actor because they are a cheater in their private life, just like people can be not bothered by it and still like and enjoy the actor.
I think what people are mostly annoyed about him now is what appears to many as cowardliness. Actors, especially in Korea, tend to keep a low profile when there are "scandals" coming out, hoping it will be buried and quickly forgotten, unless it's blowing out big, just like Kim Soo Hyun nowadays. The fact that it comes directly from an actor choices or his company is irrelevant because in the end, only the actor will suffer or benefit from it. They are the only ones reponsibles. I'm not saying it's good or bad, I guess there are different pros and cons for evey situation, it's only an objective observation on how they behave when there are scandals. But this attitude tends to backlash a lot, especially in the current days.
When it comes to Ryu Jun Yeol, I personally liked the actor a lot, but it's true that now, I am bothered by the person because his attitude is in contradiction with my moral values. And the fact that he preferred to keep his head buried in the sand instead of adressing clearly the issue to eventually clear eventual misunderstandings or wrong facts (which is his choice) makes it difficult for me to keep supporting his work and him as an actor.
I don't believe everything is white or black nor that people cannot make mistake or be redeemed, but if you don't address wrongdoings, or make it clear it's false, you can't blame people who looked up for you, but now feel disappointed or betrayed, to refuse you redemption.
Still, we have less gumiho dramas than zombie dramas. So keep the gumihos coming ~
It's not about the number of dramas based on the gumiho tale for me, there are dozen of dramas based on the same themes every year after all. It's the execution of this theme the problem. Writers lack inspiration and good ideas to make it interesting, at least for me.
Three months ago, I wrote this: "I wasn't very impressed by "The Priests", so I don't expect much from this movie, but I am still curious to watch it. However, based on the plot and trailer, what they do with the exorcism ritual is total gibberish in this movie. That's nothing realistic."
Well, after finally watching it, there was indeed really nothing to expect from this movie.
Please stop using the term pedophile for KSH. Pedophile is defined as someone who is sexually attracted to prepubescent…
I salute your courage, with no surprise the internet nut jobs are going to be after you for this intelligent comment. I deeply despise Kim Soo Hyun for what he has done and everything that is revealed about him (even if I never liked him as an actor anyway), but indeed, since the beginning, all these comments that use the term "pedophile" wrongly and everywhere is really disturbing too.
I think gumiho concept is very broad..ample space for imagination
Any mythical creature concept can be very broad in itself, but the execution of dramas based on the gumiho so far in Korea just show that they lacked imagination, at least for me. Thus, my reserves. It doesn't mean it will be true, it's my opinion based on past projects for now.
I'm all for Chang Wook playing in a fantasy drama, but I have some reserves too because the gumiho tale is something that has already been made a lot, so it lacks some originality, and the writer has work on projects I don't particularly like so it's not a positive signal neither. Let's wait and see.

Yoon Sung Shik, the director... I didn't pay attention to that before. Now I'm sure they will mix all kind of tones and genres.
