That's good. As I wrote back in the days, I think it's a very good sageuk (I rated it 9 stars), especially compared to all the rom-com sageuk we have every years now and that are basically just rom-com set up in an historical background without any reflexion on how a romance back in these times should be portrayed. But "Splendid Politics" is not an accurate sageuk indeed because it doesn't respect the historical facts regarding the historical figures it portrays (something I am picky about, especially if the overall drama isn't very good). Not a problem when nothing his known about these persons and events though.

People are free to dislike someone as an actor because they are a cheater in their private life, just like people can be not bothered by it and still like and enjoy the actor.
I think what people are mostly annoyed about him now is what appears to many as cowardliness. Actors, especially in Korea, tend to keep a low profile when there are "scandals" coming out, hoping it will be buried and quickly forgotten, unless it's blowing out big, just like Kim Soo Hyun nowadays. The fact that it comes directly from an actor choices or his company is irrelevant because in the end, only the actor will suffer or benefit from it. They are the only ones reponsibles. I'm not saying it's good or bad, I guess there are different pros and cons for evey situation, it's only an objective observation on how they behave when there are scandals. But this attitude tends to backlash a lot, especially in the current days.
When it comes to Ryu Jun Yeol, I personally liked the actor a lot, but it's true that now, I am bothered by the person because his attitude is in contradiction with my moral values. And the fact that he preferred to keep his head buried in the sand instead of adressing clearly the issue to eventually clear eventual misunderstandings or wrong facts (which is his choice) makes it difficult for me to keep supporting his work and him as an actor.
I don't believe everything is white or black nor that people cannot make mistake or be redeemed, but if you don't address wrongdoings, or make it clear it's false, you can't blame people who looked up for you, but now feel disappointed or betrayed, to refuse you redemption.
Still, we have less gumiho dramas than zombie dramas. So keep the gumihos coming ~
It's not about the number of dramas based on the gumiho tale for me, there are dozen of dramas based on the same themes every year after all. It's the execution of this theme the problem. Writers lack inspiration and good ideas to make it interesting, at least for me.

Any mythical creature concept can be very broad in itself, but the execution of dramas based on the gumiho so far in Korea just show that they lacked imagination, at least for me. Thus, my reserves. It doesn't mean it will be true, it's my opinion based on past projects for now.
I'm all for Chang Wook playing in a fantasy drama, but I have some reserves too because the gumiho tale is something that has already been made a lot, so it lacks some originality, and the writer has work on projects I don't particularly like so it's not a positive signal neither. Let's wait and see.

People think that because they have read some things on internet they are omniscient and superior of those affected by these dramas, but most of the time, the families are genuinely clueless until it blows up and it's only afterward that many little elements appear to have been clues of the bigger picture, but they couldn't understand it when it happened. These little things are what makes the family suffer even more and for a long time afterward because, indeed, they will question themselves and feel guilty for not having been able to guess what was going on, even if, deep down, it is not really their fault and it's definitely too easy to blame them after all the elements have been put together.
I have never experienced nothing like this in my family but for me it is common sense not to accuse people who have already been through a terrible ordeal without real proof that they knew but ignored the facts. I really despise how easy people make assumptions and slander others on internet.

Thanks to Soompi and other Korean news articles, the plot of the movie is already much more interesting than given here: "Set two years after the fall of Goguryeo’s Pyongyang Castle, “The Sword: A Legend of The Red Wolf” follows a warrior who has lost his memory and becomes entangled in a ruthless battle among five factions to claim the Sword of Godumakhan, a sword that is legendary in Goguryeo. The film is expected to begin production as early as August."
We need more sageuk films, so that's a very good news. However, Kim Han Min's "Noryang" and "Hansan" weren't as good as the "The Admiral" for me, so I hope he will not go overboard (especially with special effects) with this one. "the story of a warrior set in the Goguryeo period" is a little plain for now, but hopefully the plot will be more interesting when more is revealed.
And it would be nice to see Park Bo Gum playing a warrior in a "serious" sageuk. He was good in "Love in the Moonlight", at that times the genre was still relatively new, but now, the role of the crown prince in a rom-com sageuk has become quite stereotypical so it will be nice to take on this challenge. I hope he will accept the role.
