So many (annoying) clichés in just the first episode... Too bad.
They seriously need to stop with the stupid and unrealistic cross-dressing in sageuk stories.
Nothing bad about the production and acting, it's very good, but it's a given nowaydays for this kind of production.
The only real good point so far for me is that it's not a mix of heavy plot and comedy like most rom-coms sageuk these last years.

Wouah, didn't expected that. I thought it will be the usual pure (a bit boring) and innocent BL. But no, it's weird and good, what a great start !
It started very good with the first episode. Not your usual BL set-up. I liked the slowness and silences until Masumi met Ritsu and then the throwback to their first encounter. But I didn't expected the last scene, and after. Finally something quite realistic and mature. That's what we want (at least watchers others than the Teletubbies and unicorns teenage girls...). Episode 2 was a rollercoaster even more interesting. Can't wait for the next episodes !

This is a drama from 2013, so the filming will not be as good as a drama from 2023. And a historical drama with…
What are the plot holes for you ? I really wonder because, yes, you can not be interested by the different plots over the 51 episodes, that's based on preferences and likes, but there are no plot hole in this drama for me.
And saying it's slow... well, I don't see the point to watch a drama this long if you want a quick story but that's up to you.

This rating is fair
Well, I couldn't agree more.
But I personally don't bother with the ratings here (or anywhere and for anything actually ^^), because it's highly subjective, and especially here, because most of people using this website are women, and young ones. So be it 2013 or now, MDL ratings cannot be considered fairly representative and objective. Even more when it comes to sageuk or anything else than the basic rom-coms.

Oh what a beautiful reflection and argumentation. If you disagree you can write a comment more elaborate and not be disrespectful and offensive. Well, if you can at least, not sure about your intellectual level considering this comment...

Yes, it's fine, it's your personal opinion and it's good to share it. It's just that your first comment was poorly written.
An actor who receive offers for first roles from the major production houses in Korea and is being paid more than 300k per episode doesn't have any issue with his career. ;)

"We're fans who want to see the old badass JCW in action": I was just referencing to what you wrote.
I agree, you can still be considered a fan of that person at a certain time, not anymore though.
If you don't watch his new projects, it's weird to criticise them just based on the genres and plots. So I don't see the point of commenting like that over the years. Especially when he has also done countless of interviews explaining his choices. It's ignoring totally his reasons and feelings. For me, this is kind of an obsession too.
I personally stopped having interest in actors I didn't liked anymore in their new projects, so I don't understand people who are still stuck to Ji Chang Wook when they say that they didn't like a single thing he did over six years.

Personal opinion. I don't mind it, but don't state your comment like it's a universal truth. These dramas had their publics and fans, surely they were not complete failures, otherwise Ji Chang Wook's carrer would have experienced a slope. And it's two dramas, which doesn't weight that much compare to his whole filmography.
I personally don't think any actor has a perfect filmography. I like them both as good actors but not all their projects were great.

Oh I hope Shin Hye Sun can finally save Ji Chang Wook for his acting career.
Please think before writing ridiculous comments. Indeed, you can dislike Ji Chang Wook's dramas, but if he keeps receiving offers and being paid so much as an actor, there are good reasons. His projects are successful (maybe not the most successful ones, but still), and he sure doesn't lack popularity. So writing the same comments over and over since his military service won't change anything I guess. I really don't get the need to repetitively comment the same things every time there is an article about him.

Get him back on track you wrote. Hum. He wouldn't receive any offer and get paid so much if his projects were failure... Again, the way this comment is written is wrong. State your personal opinion, it's about your tastes, these aren't facts or absolute truth.

I understand your opinion but the same comments over and over since his military service won't change anything I believe. You liked him only in action dramas and don't like his recent choices or haven't even watch most of them, so maybe just move from him. It's been five years already.
I don't question your opinion, it's all about preferences and likes, but a true fan will watch all the projects of an actor and then have an opinion about them. It's like saying you're a fan of a rock singer, heard that he did a pop album, and judging it's bad without even listening to it...
I really don't understand the need to repetitively comment the same things every time there is an article about him.

where in this thread did anyone hate on him? where? people mentioned that the dramas sucked, the plots of the…
Well, the word "hate" is too strong in my opinion, and Ji Chang Wook's popularity and success aren't in danger (otherwise he wouldn't receive offers anymore and wouldn't be paid so much as an actor), but it's true that it is really annoying to see the same concert of "He is better in action dramas", "Nothing good since his military service", "Always picks bad scripts/dramas", by few people, every time there is an article about him.
I personally don't go writing comments about actors I dislike, or dramas, I just ignore them. So I don't get the need some people have to repetitively express bad thoughts about someone or projects. But I don't really mind it either, debate is interesting if it's argumentative.
But what I really don't understand is why people get angry about other people defending these actors or dramas after their comments. In both cases, the cons and the pros, they are defending their opinions. If you criticise, you need to accept that other don't think the same and will confront your opinion, especially when it comes to actors and dramas others like. Nobody can pretend having a superior opinion here. It's only about preferences and likes.
I'm a big fan of Ji Chang Wook, so I like almost all his projects, but I don't pretend they are all flawless masterpieces and cannot be criticised. It can be discussed. However, I don't get people who just go telling that everything he has done since "Suspicious partner", or even "Healer" in some cases, is garbage. It's five dramas and two movies since 2017. It might not be to one's liking, but all these projects can objectively said being successful. Otherwise the poor Ji Chang Wook would be jobless so far.
That's probably why Ji Chang Wook's fans defend him so fiercely I guess, because these negative opinions are kind of too much over the years.
The way most people write their comments here is also the problem. They state their opinions like they are the universal truth. Of course people will react. If you take the time to express a personal opinion using the right words people will understand better and exchange opinions more peacefully.

Didn't thought I would be moved so much by it. It's a beautiful story. Both Yoshitaka Yuriko and Yokohama Ryusei are really great in this movie.

i don't think this drama is meant to be realistic since it's literally about demons
Yes that's true (even so demons and possession are considered real by a lot of believers of many religions), and I don't mind it being unrealistic as it is a fantasy story. I never expected the character to be a "normal" exorcist, but this one I find him very ridiculous.

Maybe because the point of the character isn't catholic priest rep but just a fun UNIQUE not-like-other-priests…
It's not because you have a different opinion that you can be disrespectful to others.
I don't see the point to debate or dialogue if you feel like it's necessary to insult others when they think differently than you. Be careful of what you write.

Check fleabag and tell me how catholic representation was apt in western drama
I never wrote that Catholic priests are well represented in "western drama" so I don't understand the reference.

One more stupid and disappointing representation of Catholic priests in a Korean production. I don't know if it's the same in the webtoon but they should stop doing that. It's a relief that there are movies like "A Birth" to compensate that.
