To the new viewers thinking about watching Double Helix, here's something you should know: a large chunk of the bad reviews seem to come from people who are mad that this BL became so successful. Yes, it's a toxic BL. Nobody is hiding that. But the acting, cinematography, soundtrack, and overall production quality are some of the best i've seen.
As someone who has been watching BLs for years, some of these haters seriously need to grow up. Calling Double Helix "boring" while being fans of To My Shore, ABO Desire, or Revenged Love (FYI, i rated all a 10, including Double Helix), because unlike some people, i can enjoy different types of stories without treating everything like a competition.
To the person who said, "This show proves BL fans nowadays only watch for NC scenes." That's adorable. You clearly don't know BL history. Maybe do a little research before making grand declarations about a genre you've only been watching for five minutes. At the end of the day, toxic BLs remain some of the most popular and sought-after stories in the genre, whether people like that fact or not. You don't have to enjoy them.
I've also noticed that many of the people screaming "trash", "boring" only seem to watch toxic BLs. meanwhile, there are plenty of fluffy, green-flag Chinese BLs out there that they conveniently ignore.
And can we talk about the people saying they wanted it to end like the movie version? Seriously? Do you know how many years fans of A Round Trip to Love waited for a proper remake and a happy ending? We finally got the ending many of us wanted.
Anyway, that's the end of my rant. Feel free to continue being shocked that a toxic BL contains toxic characters.
Are we gonna get the reaction videos for the last 2 episodes? Or have they wrapped it all up?
I think they would still release it since they are still uploading videos on their youtube channel. The second couple already have a reaction video of 10 and 11.
I love how a few years ago the BL community was raging for healthy love and to remove toxicity, and now that we've…
People like me have been crying for toxic bls for years. We stopped getting toxic bls a few years back thank God China is back in the game. It is remaining Japan
I’ve stopped expecting or hoping for messy, toxic, dark, mysterious and emotional intense series from Thailand.…
I don't know why they don't take a risk? I don't know if they think all their fans are teenagers *facepalm*
BOC would have nailed the toxicity 100%.
China will make them step up. I am so happy Payback isn't fluffy, hopefully 'Lust" and "Don't be too emotional" will not be fluffy. I didn't even bother to watch Revamp.
Keeping telling yourself that. Yes Thai BL is popular and produces a lot of bls, more like quantity over quality.
Many stories feel similar, and some focus more on attractive actors and fan service than strong writing or acting. Because they release so many series, the quality can be uneven—some are really good, but others feel rushed or basic.
I didn't want to believe the font and title were giving off fluffy romance vibes, but then the trailer dropped and... well, my disappointment was confirmed.
Thailand needs to learn that not everyone wants fluffy romance. Some of us enjoy messy, toxic, and emotionally intense relationships in bls too.
With the sheer number of BLs Thailand produces, i can count the truly toxic ones on one hand. 🙂 *sigh*
Thailand will do it justice all their BL's are the best
You did you say you didn't get any angst from the Korean trailer? I think you should watch the Korean trailer again.
It definitely got angst from the Korean trailer. The tension, emotions, and overall tone were all there. It looked much heavier and more emotional than a typical romance trailer.

This should have been out even before Double Helix.
