Hanazakari No Kimitachi e is the best. Most Japanese versions usually are
yes I agree!! most of the time if the story is based on a manga the Japanese versions are usually the best to capture that quirky spirit, while Taiwanese always stick more to the detail of the story and Koreans put more effort in visual aspects and emotions. I guess it's a difference of culture.and way of filming.
I can't say I was disappointed, it's just Jackie style. nothing much new, but if you like his older movies, you…
I know:) that is why I said there are a lot of connections. maybe I should have made it more clear by saying I still prefer the old armour of god movies over the new sequel.
god the cheesiness of it all makes you want to cringe non stop. XD but it's cute and fluffy and quite enjoyable and easy simple language, good to practice Japanese
nice article! I think it's a great list to rediscover Japanese drama aswell, cause I haven't seen too many that sparked my interest lately. some of these I've watched, but many I haven't. I'll definitely check them out now.
pheww finally I made myself finish this. simply because I didn't want to judge it from watching only half of it. unfortunately it didn't get any better.. how can there be so much romance in a can opener? XD
I just watched ep. 3 Kabedon! gnyaaaa haha why did they cut it off? T^T as I understand from the commments those two will not get much screen time. still enjoy watching all couples in the drama so far^^
great article!! it made me laugh so much xD don't know if anyone said this already but what about Kang Ho Goo from Ho Goo's Love? he's the most ardorkable prince charming, who is protecting the girl and her baby in the most fun way!
At the end... Do they meet? I could not understand
I'd also like to know that.. I mean to me it looks like they met, but then they had those fantasy meetings before, so I'm really not sure. ^^° haha anyways nice drama
finally finished watching this. I started this to practice my Chinese and aside from some business talk it was really good to follow. towards the end it got a little draggy. but in my opinion this drama was never about the outcome, but in what way people deal with certain situations in life and love. I was surprised to see quite modern views about relationships and work, that probably represent mostly young people in China (hence the absence of older generation most of the time). but in the end marriage still seems to be presented as the final goal in a woman's life. why? ^o^°
pheew.. this drama will stay with me for a while. I can totally understand the people who weren't satisfied with the ending, but it's probably the only thing that would live up to the whole series. I thoroughly enjoyed watched this drama and now I'll just have to watch more of those excellent actors :D
good drama although I don't really like the genre. so depressing, gonna rewatch some Hana Kimi now to see those two happier! :D I wish Ueno Juri was in that one too, but well for her smile there's always Nodame^_^
is this really Taiwanese? cause some people sure sound mainland to me, especially her parents. or is that the thing? that she's supposed to have come from China?
Can anyone tell me why her brother and mom treated her like that?
it will be revealed in the last episode, but I only saw it in Japanese, so I'm not sure I understood everything. for me it is clear the mum has some issues and should see a psychiatrist! as for the brother I can just guess that he was really just treating her like that because he could. he was never told off for it, and I think he kind of enjoyed having power over her. it is only when she starts resisting him that he starts to change
thank you very much!! I just finished watching Hoo Goo's Love, which is actually a lot different in many of these aspects, but still made me think how females are treated in a lot of Asian societies.
after watching a few drama I got annoyed by the stereotypical love-hate relationship and used to think it's weird they fall in love anyways. I mean come on girl he's a total asshole! but then I thought it's just their way of telling love stories and didn't really think of things, such as the wrist grap, as abuse, more as a means of showing the desperation/ emotions ...whatever. but I never found this romantic in any way and after a while it started to concern me, the way that the females are just like puppets (or as you called it being treated as objects).
as for the hitting, parents hitting their children!, I was never fond of it and especially portraying it as if the parents have the right to do that. it is not right! I truly hope not all families are like that in real life and things are going to change. (everywhere! not only Asia. I had a friend whose mum would regularly hit her!)
I am happy there are more stories with strong female leads, that are not the bitches. (sorry don't have an example right now) but sadly those are usually only side characters, not involved in a love story, or sometimes they are the ones abusing the males. (such as in Oh My Ghost, in a supposedly funny way-.-°)
so yes I share your opinion, only I feel ashamed I have never given it that much thought. that is why I am very grateful for sharing your thoughts. thanks also for the recommended articles, will have a read!:)
PS.: I could only finish the Korean version "Playfull Kiss", but I had a really hard time. think it was the other characters that kept me going. I never made it to more than 2 episodes for the other versions. and now you gave me the perfect reasons why I will never do it! :D
It was a great drama ... I never thought I would cry but i can't help it family scenes is my weakness ... but…
haha same here I was crying too! I loved the overall message of the drama: live life to the fullest and love yourself!
I'm pretty sure it was Seong Jae, cause they showed the flashback. I think he remembered how good everyone was to him and felt sorry. the evil spirit is just evil, don't think it has any human emotions anymore. or you think it wanted to kill him? just wonder why it left him anyways, I mean he didn't die. really strange
Humph. I love original Korean shows and usually hate their remakes of Japanese stuff. I doubt this is going to…
same here! I just love the manga and the Japanese drama so much!and I think it's told in such a Japanese way, it's hard to imagine it in any other context. well I won't expect it to be that great, but I think I'll still give it a try,
nice article!I only saw him in Dream High and You who came from the stars, and I must say I was more convinced by his acting in Dream High. but I will definitely watch the movie now! love bromance ^__^
