love how you casually mention dude got hit by a bus. haha I did like Seung Hoen in dramas before, but I am not a big fan of dark drama which is why I stayed away for a while.. also I love good family stories, so I might try this one. thanks for the article ^_^
The only thing I hate is the cringe comedy. Knowing this has the same writer as strong woman do bong soon explain…
haha it's funny cause for me that's the exact reason I got interested. I came for the comedy and did get what I hoped for. like what the heck was up with that cowboy on the place scene? I can never unsee that ;D but I love cringy comedy so it's really about different taste. hopefully you will get some different angle with the mystery around the doctor? otherwise I assume it will be a painful watch for you. ^^°
you might find me weird but I think it's rather refreshing that they show women are on their period from time to time, without making it a big issue. Like even if it's one of those cases they're advertising the products, just casually mentioning that on the side without embarrassment makes the characters so much more relatable
This drama is kind of addicting but I can't get over how cringe Tong Nian can be. I also wish dramas would stop…
I was thinking the same at first, but I've slightly changed my mind. I think she's a very strong character in the sense that she shows her love and doesn't back down, yet she is not clingy and respecting his decision. The only reason she keeps going to him is because he keeps inviting her over. To be honest Han Shangyan seems to be the weak one here, because the closed up him, doesn't know how to deal with an open and pure person like her. from the start it seemed that he already liked her a lot more than he showed and he kept trying to convince her not to like him, because he's afraid. haha so much for my analysis at this point, (I'm at ep. 16) but anyways I think he is going to start showing more of his sweet side soon^^ and yes I would love for them to show more about her abilities , but since the story is focused on that whole CTF stuff, I think it'll be related to that aswell (like the little training game she programmed)
thank you for this article! it's just what I needed right now for many reasons. haha I must admit I only watched Zanilia Zhao as Xue Shan Shan and that drama just put me off on so many levels, but I did fin her likable despite the character. Chinese drama are just so long, but now I feel like I want to see her badass side. :D I think I'll try Rookie Agent Rouge first.
I really enjoyed the acting in this drama, the main actors took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions, I'm looking forward to more dramas with them. but now I need something fluffy and light hearted again. ^^°
on a side note [might contain some vague SPOILERS]: when they talked about finding some scandal to cover up the truth, I was reminded of the current idol scandal around 'Burning sun'. I mean of course those individuals did awful things and should be prosecuted accordingly. But it kept me thinking about all those corrupt higher-ups and company CEOs, everything that seems to be wrong with the entertainment industry - will they also keep going further and cracking down on that? I kind of doubt that. Especially what Ji Soo's father said about the police, how can the officers work well if the body is rotten, it just seemed too realistic - like that is what's actually happening in South Korea and I am sure other countries aswell. corruption is scary...
thank you for this wonderful article! when people ask me if studying Chinese wasn't super hard I always tell them grammar is super easy compared to German but the amount of characters and words is what makes it so difficult - but at the same time makes it so fascinating aswell. With a few words you can express so much meaning. I still remember when I went to Karaoke with my Chinese friends I asked why do so many Chinese love ballads. one friend told me that the lyrics normally are like poems and are more meaningful than the 'happy songs' and I agree. I would love to read an article about commonly used 成语 because those are only sometimes explained in the subtitles. when I watch a Chinese movie or drama without the subtitles those are usually the parts I don't get at all^^°
am I the only one who finds Jin Mi's convenient store meals rather appalling? I mean they just seem to be covered in cheese.. and cup pizza? who invents this kind of madness? XD
anyways love the drama and all the characters!too bad I already watched all the episodes and have to wait every week now T-T
lol at the spot the girls pictures XD I love Gender bender! it doesn't seem realistic in the drama, but I have met some people in my life where you couldn't clearly tell their sex. Coffee Prince was my first Korean drama and Hana Kimi is one of my all time favourite J dramas. I think the Gender bender really never gets old and it should never, but it would also be great to see some more actual gay and lesbian love represented in dramland. I know it will be a long way, at least there's already some short online drama ^^
I didn't get much of the computer and gaming talk but overall a fun story. The product placement in Chinese drama though...is Rio sponsoring every one of them? and one of my favourite scenes must be where she says: I'll look if there is some juice. *opens fridge full of juice bottles* ^^° well I have to admit I often bought that one, it's actual juice compared to much stuff you get in China.
great article! I like how you have captured the essence of the bully and the mechanisms so well. whenever I watch a drama where bullying is involved I always wonder 'would I be the one to step up?' I was made fun of a lot in school, but luckily I still had my friends so I tried to ignore and not care so much about the bullies. I think it was mostly the 'power' reason, the guys who made fun of me did it to seem cooler to the popular guys in our class. but yeah I really suffered a bit when some of my friends were not even saying anything to those people, though I didn't really blame them because I might have been too afraid too. anyways they never stopped being my friends! when I finally spoke up for myself during a class trip I felt so relieved and I realised that whatever they think of me is not important, what I think of myself is! I just wish some of those bullies understood what they are doing to others, cause honestly I think many don't even know how seriously they are scarring someone for life. long rant haha anyways thank you for your article!
can any main couple be more adorable than this one? If you like family stories and slow couple development I recommend watching this drama! In my opinion the character development was portrayed very well, it could have had more details for the side characters, but it was also fine the way it is..leaves room for imagination;) . I did not notice them cutting episodes, like some people mentioned here, although I would have loved to see more obviously. so hard to say goodbye<3
Is this drama any good ? I heard they cut down on the episodes and rushed it ? A bit like your honor which left…
well considering the slow pace of the whole show the reveal in the ending was a bit rushed. I am trying to say this without spoiling too much. ^^° uum.. to me it fit the situation and the character development. if you like sweet couples and not too much drama then I totally recommend watching it. I loved every single character in the show and I will have serious withdrawal issues with this one. I just finished and want to watch again. T-T
I'm really liking this drama so far! I just looked up the male actors and their age difference is only 2 years when they're supposed to be uncle and nephew and 11 years apart? wow didn't expect that^^°
