I think I'll spend the rest of the week building a time machine to transport myself back to when I first started…
hahaha okay, maybe I should drop it. I've been trying to force myself to continue for a long time now, but I am so annoyed each time I start again. Maybe I'll just watch the last episode to find some inner peace.
wow..I finished! A painful watch mostly, I think the things that made me keep on watching were the Mother Team and also the mothers (of Darim, Ji Hyeok and Ha Yeong). Mother's for the win! Oh and that goofy dancing in the end really made me end this on a happy note. This drama shall be partly forgiven their sins of collecting all the worst tropes there are and not even making them fun.
So:It's been a while since I watched a Korean drama.I started watching them quite early (2010) and then somehow…
100% agree with what you wrote. overall I enjoyed the drama and the crime plot was believable enough. I have to say I find the glorification of fandom in this drama quite problematic. I mean it's like you mentioned: she said she liked him as a person, but then likes him better as a star? It's fine if she still enjoyed his music, but going back to the buying merch and tickets..
also those two crazy fans, who nearly killed them (and potentially others if they had ended up having a car accident) are now getting their redemption because they are just loyal fans and no consequences whatsover?!
I want to report to y'all that my miniature poodle is absolutely HOOKED on this drama. She's a pretty hyperactive…
hahaha I was wondering whether I should watch it or not. this convinced me! but please be aware I will have to blame your miniature poodle if I am not enjoying it.
Setting aside that the kiss was very tame considering the earlier tension and the spiciness of the manga, what…
omg yes! it looked like they blurred their faces into plush toy mode. xD The only reason I kept watching was cause of that actor. It was the first time I thought it's believable people didn't recognise him: Enaga and AE actually seemed like two different people.
Ok I'm not that good with piercings stuff lately, (Thank you Final F**King destination!!) ... I've only seen a…
I am definitely cringing a lot. but I kind of started with that in the first episode, so I just went with it. :D The piercings do have a significance, at least for Chiaki they're not only part of the "punk" attire, but hold a special meaning.
haha I love how angry you get. I am pretty annoyed too, but will still finish, since there are only 2 episodes…
aah I see! Yes 100% agree on that. I also hate when they always want to show this as lying for their sake, but actually it ends up being harmful for the other person.
haha I love how angry you get. I am pretty annoyed too, but will still finish, since there are only 2 episodes…
haha omg yes. Real life is bad enough and we still do this to ourselves. To be honest I am not so much bothered by her lying to get the house, cause f*k those rich guys. But if she wants to get the house, she should at least be more smart about it and not suddenly depend on the guy to help her, because he's "the nice guy"
I think this could've been so much better if it had been a comedy:
Idea no. 1. they were not married yet, but cheating ex’s name was on the raffle ticket, hence she needs an actual fake fiancé with the same name, they agree to get married to get the house and share the money after selling it. then they are living together (to keep the director neighbour happy) and yes of course they will actually fall in love, after some bickering
imo it's so pointless he had the same name, since she never divorced the other dude and even sent his documents! to the Beaute guy, like how come they never checked (after asking his ID once) whether it was really him? he even noticed they look different. she could've just tried to find someone looking more similar to her ex and make a contract with him to share the money later)
Idea no. 2 they still try to hide it from their families, but there are many coincidental meetings, this could lead to many hilarious scenes, like the one where she is hiding in the dog house.
Idea no. 3 waaay less screen time for the Ex and his family. let them find out about the house later, when the CP is already in love and give them a super embarrassing scene, I mean the ex was already set up as a clown, so he should be all the way cheating clown and not a violent creep more screen time for the FL mum! I actually really loved her, especially when she supports her lying to keep the house. There could have been some funny scenes with her!
Idea no. 4 NO cunning and evil uncle, NO parents death drama, NO I knew you since childhood and never forgot you trope The whole uncle story arc annoyed me sooo sooo much. It really ruined the drama for me, cause everything now is focused on this story. Like the story isn't even about the main couple and the house anymore. It's all about that one crazy evil man, who is betraying everyone
Starting from the general set-up how it is written in the description it could have been a very funny and silly drama and I actually believed that was what they were going for, especially giving the characters those names - I mean"Woo Joo and Me ri" come on?! I am sure Choi Woo Shik and Jung So Min would've been able to pull off the goofy act. The story also wouldn't have been something new, but honestly I believe that is not important if the comedic timing and chemistry between the characters are alright.
So this has overall been a big disappointment for me. If I see a comedy tag next time, I will not trust it so easily.
honestly was a bit disappointed about the end. why did they have to add the stupid marriage proposal trope? If they had shown them like in Haruka's imagination with her in the suit and him in the dress, I might have forgiven them. Aahh Hikaru is so damn pretty!!
They need to stop making the fucking trope that the child is responsible for their parents death! I know of survivor's guilt, but his entire family is just blaming a little boy for what?! Any person turning around while driving it is clearly their fault, like how can you blame another person for that. The reasons in other drama were equally stupid, like oh my parents drove to that place only because I wanted to go, so obviously it's my fault they died. It makes me so mad each time, I almost want to stop watching. Anyways it's an okay drama, but I wish they had just left it as comedy and not add the tragic past, evil uncle story.
just wanted to say: wonderful review! I just finished the drama and came here to see what other people thought and I so much agree with everything you said.
It's a typical J-drama - the passionate type. If you don't like J-drama, better not watch. Personally I wasn't too invested in the love story, but I love the music and the friendship plot. I never read the Manga, but it's always difficult to compare this. In my opinion the acting was great and you can tell they put a lot of effort into making believable performances and a great soundstrack to do justice to a story centered around music. They got many great musicians on board for this. I doubt I would rewatch, but I will keep listening to the OST for a long time.
