thank you very much!! I just finished watching Hoo Goo's Love, which is actually a lot different in many of these aspects, but still made me think how females are treated in a lot of Asian societies.
after watching a few drama I got annoyed by the stereotypical love-hate relationship and used to think it's weird they fall in love anyways. I mean come on girl he's a total asshole! but then I thought it's just their way of telling love stories and didn't really think of things, such as the wrist grap, as abuse, more as a means of showing the desperation/ emotions ...whatever. but I never found this romantic in any way and after a while it started to concern me, the way that the females are just like puppets (or as you called it being treated as objects).
as for the hitting, parents hitting their children!, I was never fond of it and especially portraying it as if the parents have the right to do that. it is not right! I truly hope not all families are like that in real life and things are going to change. (everywhere! not only Asia. I had a friend whose mum would regularly hit her!)
I am happy there are more stories with strong female leads, that are not the bitches. (sorry don't have an example right now) but sadly those are usually only side characters, not involved in a love story, or sometimes they are the ones abusing the males. (such as in Oh My Ghost, in a supposedly funny way-.-°)
so yes I share your opinion, only I feel ashamed I have never given it that much thought. that is why I am very grateful for sharing your thoughts. thanks also for the recommended articles, will have a read!:)

PS.: I could only finish the Korean version "Playfull Kiss", but I had a really hard time. think it was the other characters that kept me going. I never made it to more than 2 episodes for the other versions. and now you gave me the perfect reasons why I will never do it! :D

I'm pretty sure it was Seong Jae, cause they showed the flashback. I think he remembered how good everyone was to him and felt sorry. the evil spirit is just evil, don't think it has any human emotions anymore. or you think it wanted to kill him? just wonder why it left him anyways, I mean he didn't die. really strange

where did you watch it? gooddrama is only up to ep. 6 and I really want to keep watchingT_T aah why didn't I wait until the drama finished airing~.~

same here! I just love the manga and the Japanese drama so much!and I think it's told in such a Japanese way, it's hard to imagine it in any other context. well I won't expect it to be that great, but I think I'll still give it a try,

I never really search for noona-drama, but come to think of it I have watched so many already (my first ones were anego, sapuri, kimi wa petto). I think the thing I liked most about them is the strong female lead, because she is so different from those clumsy-poor-naive-girls. and yeah the guys are always hooot!:D I'm gonna go and watch some more noona-drama now.^__^ hehe thanks for this article~

finally finished this one!it had some length that kept me putting it on hold. but I have to say the chemistry of the main couple is just great, off screen they were so cute too! was watching this on a chinese page and the last part suddenly got cut off. hahaha:D okay this is not about the hair, I mean I've seen worse hairstyle in drama,especially in the korean ones they love to make there hair curly and all weird hairstyles(jeremy -you're beautiful ô_ô) but what's with the cake? I mean it's like a clichee slapstick joke, so I'm thinking don't they want us to laugh about it? I won't say the whole show will be bad, but this teaser tells nothing about the story behing it. so if you don't know it already, I wouldn't know what to expect from this at all.

I haven't been watching Anime for a long time now, so I don't know most of them. but I love your ideas for Marmelade Boy. I loved the manga and when I watched the taiwanese drama I thought it's so horrible I dropped it after a few episodes. I really hope there will be a korean version. someone please make them do it!!XD
