you are forgetting this is a romance drama, not real life. in real life,.if somebody says he/she doesn't want to, it's because he/she doesn't want to. but I'm dramas, we know they are going to get together, and this rejections are only here to make ML work even harder and growel. not from the character perspective, but from the scriptwriters/audience perspective.

Unfortunately, the drama's plot is rather weak. I really liked the visual part, the beautiful girls and boys,…
you have to differentiate things by its genre. a romance is a romance. if it makes you feel fluffy, it is good, because that's the point of a romance. if you watch a mystery show, then it needs to be interesting.

you would be surprised how many of us want to know these things before starting a drama

maybe "pursuing him" isn't the right term, they did it together. both got closer and closer at the same time. it's just she didn't hide her feelings and he did at first.

It's hard to say in this one. I would say he fell first, but she did the pursuing first. He liked her and did things for her in secret, and once she fell for him, it's her who started liking him without hiding it.

that's because while he liked her, he didn't want to start a relationship at first because of life problems

I totally didn't expect to fall for Mr. Pei in this drama 😭 😭. I kinda skipped the main couple's story,…
The only reason I didnt find this love triangle annoying is because how ridiculous it was that sML though he had any chance with her. I dont see how you can find them good together.

They get together in episode 19.

There is a breakup, but it's not very annoying. You clearly see both dont want to, she feels obligated to do it, but still worries about him and is as sad as him, and in less than 2 episodes its over.

There is a love triangle, but it's not very deep. sML and villain likes her, but its absolutly ridiculous for him to think he had any chance. She tries to avoid him most of the time. There are still a few annoying scenes where she uses him to make ML jealous, but it's a small thing.

I liked it a lot.

One of the few romance dramas where ML doesn't have to do all the romantic heavy lifting.

FL is straightforward, sweet, strong, and doesnt need all the ridiculous things FLs in other shows need, like ML aplogizing forever for doing almost nothing, or being a simp for her all the time.

I watch every type of movie and show, but I watch asian dramas specifically for the romance feel-good.

I do some research before watching a drama. I cant remember but I guess it ticked some of my nono watch checklist. Maybe it doesnt have a happy ending, or it has a terrible love triangle, or something like that

that's the complete explanation yes, and when talking about FL he says that. But many times, and Infront of others like FLs mom and grandmom, they just say "the accident was [the other girls name]" fault. literally

Easy, the "stuff" i've been seing is this exact same situation in every drama, while almost never seeing the same situation with reverse genders. That's the main complain.

Like you say, this scene is a minor thing. I said so in my first post. I never said it ruined the show, I specified it's very short. But it is shoehorned into the plot just to do the same scene as almost every other romance drama.

If you dont see differences in dramas when ML "does something bad" vs when FL "does something bnad", you are blind

If you would gather all romance dramas text, and do a count for the word "sorry" said by MLs and said by FLs, the difference in ratio wouldnt be just bigger for MLs, it would be like 50 to 1.

About point 1. Im not saying your explanation isnt true. Im saying, if you reverse the genders, FL wouldnt have needed to apologize for 6 episodes, if at all. And if I complained about it, I would be having this conversation and the other guy would be explaining to me how she was insecure about her financial situation and had a valid reason to reject him.

For point 2, either a rejection requires an apology (or earning his/her trust back after rejecting him/her) or it doesnt. Whats not right is that when ML rejects, he has to work his ass off to earn her again. But when FL does the rejection, ML again has to work his ass off to convince her.

It's 101 of double standards

No, she didnt rehect him. The paralel is double standards. This same situation with FL saving a life while confronting her big anxiety would never have ended with ML blaming her. Same as FL rejecting ML would never end like when ML rejects FL.

Im not saying ML in you are my glory did well. But 2 things about it

1. She should indeed have been hurt and mad. But after realizing he only did it because of his insecurities, not because he didnt like her, which was about 2 episodes later, not 6, , she should have stopped being angry and talked about how she doesnt care about their money differences and fixed it

2. Same as he didnt do right because even having reason for doing so, he hurt her feelings and should apologize, FLs also hurt MLs feelings when they reject them, even having reasons for doing so, and also should apologize. But FLs get a free pass on apologies while MLs get scenes specifically invented for them to apologize

In every drama where FL rejects ML, "she had a reason, why would she apologize".

In you are my glory or any other drama where ML rejects FL with a reason "he better apologizes for 5 episodes".

I didnt even notice this trope for many dramas. But after over a hundred, I started hating it.

The pararlels is, in 80% if not more of the romance dramas, there is a scene like this one where ML needs to apologize. And in many dramas the same "problem" happens with oposite roles... and its still ML who needs to apologize.

"it's just getting mad for heavens sake, not like she killed his cat"
I gave the drama a 9/10, im not burning her at the stake. That doesnt mean that scene is absolutly unfair towards ML, and would never ever happen if it was FL with a big lifechanging disability and depression and ML getting mad at her for an sms right when she is confronting it.

Same as in action movies or videogames the cool and strong one is usually the man, because the audience is mainly male. It happens there too, but it is recognized. Everybody knows and says those things are to cater to male fantasy. Well, romance dramas make ML apologize to cater to female guilty pleasure. Just in this case it's not often mentioned. But after 170 romance dramas, I am quite sick of the trope. Doesnt mean I still dont love the dramas

yeah yeah, there are always "reasons". Im just tired of the "reasons" always ending in FL mad and ML needing to apologize.
