Curious Question, Generally what would you guys think is more important?1. Good plot but you dont like any of…
Depends on what you include as part of the plot. Since this is a romance, I guess you are talking about romance shows. The chemistry and happiness of the romance is considered plot, or characters? Because those are the msot important things in a romance. of course it changes in other genres
This show had the best conversations between leads Ive seen in any romance. Im curious to know which romance dramas you like if you find this one boring.
Just finished watching Lighter & Princess. I didnt enjoy it much because of the constant annoying problems, but FL was the MVP. She was amazing. Only this girl made the show worth watching
Ok, finally finished watching it. I have watched 166 asian dramas, and this is the hardest to rate of them all.…
Ok, so the second problem of the show, besides the constant problems, is surprising, because it should be the best part of the show.
Do you know in most romances how the leads grow closer and closer together, and theres one point where you cant wait anymore and are dieing for them to finally get together and be able to see them as a couple? When it finally happens you grin like an idiot, and in most romances, the following episodes are the best of the show.
Well, in this show, it starts like that, they grow closer and closer together, and theres a point you cant wait anymore.... and yeah! they get together. They finally kiss, confess to eatchother and.... SURPRISE MOTHERFKER, "3 years later" message appears on screen....
I almost spat my drink. And no, that time isnt shown with flashbacks or anything. They just skip it....
So yeah, instead of finally being able to see the 2 characters you have been watching grow closer together for 18 episodes.... you get to watch a 3 year old relationship, of a couple already accustomed to eatchoer, that already has done every thing interesting in a new relationship...
This is crazy, first time I see it in a romance. Even shows where romance is just a secondary plot dont do this...
Like I said, scriptwriters just want to move things forward faster to reach the annoying part sooner, which is the part they want their show to focus on
EDIT: I remembered another bad thing, the leads get together in episode 18, which is nice in a 36 episode show... except that they breakup in episode 22 and dont get together again until episode 35. Thats very very bad for my likeing. They are only together 5 episodes of 36....
Ok, finally finished watching it. I have watched 166 asian dramas, and this is the hardest to rate of them all. I totally understand now why it has so many mixed reviews, some saying it is amazing and some hating it.
Lets start with the good things. Number 1 by a big margin: FL. She is the MVP of this show. Not only is the acting great, but her character is amazing, a pleasure to watch, and the one carrying the romance, and the show . As a male watcher, who is tired of seeing how almost every asian romance tries to please girls guilty pleasures, like for example FL making ML apologize forever or FLs who treat secondary love interest too well or most MLs ALWAYS being much more in love than FL after the get together, and so on...., this FL is just a pleasure to watch. She is 100% flawless in the romance, through every problem, the entire show. Not once is she annoying when often even FLs I love have some annoying parts.
2: MLs acting is great too, and his character is interesting and often very likeable. He also has quite some dislikeable moments, but still, it's a great ML.
3: Their chemistry is VERY good. Another strong point of this show.
So yeah, those things are amazing, and they are very important things in a romance. So I understand the many amazing revierws it gets. But, and here comes the big but, I still couldnt enjoy the show, so I also understand all the negative comments.
It took me a long time to finish the show. I stopped all the time, watched some youtube videos in between, even fast forwarded scenes... The show just doesnt want you to enjoy the good things it has. Not only do a lot of bad things happen in the show, but it is clear those are the things the scriptwriters wanted to focus their show on.
The show doesnt want you to feel happy. It prefers to delight itself on constant drama. The show is 90% problems and 10% happiness. I dont watch romances for this, I watch a thriller if I want constant bad things happening. I dont mind if I watch a movie where the entire planet perishes, or game of thrones where every character you thought was the main lead suddenly dies. Those genres are suited for that. But when I watch a romance, I want to grin like an idiot, not watch some stupid problems which dont make sense at all ruin 90% of the show.
Regarding this topic of "problems not making sense", you will read many comments of fans saying "it's so good, because it is realistic, because real life has problems...." Bullshit! Real life has problems, that is true. But not the problems depicted in this one, and many other dramas. Mainly, because 90% of drama breakups are because of Noble Idiocy. Let me tell you something, nobody in real life is almost perfect, loves his girl, is loved by his girl, but has 1 problem and breaks up with his girl and pushes her away to "protect" her from that problem, even if she just wants to be with him like crazy and he destroys her life pushing her away... Realistic? Bullshit, that's fanatics of the show trying to convince themselves that their beloved show is "so realistic". And Im talking about dramas in general, not only this one. I remember the same happening in "Our secret". It was the same, many comments saying it was realistic because it had problems, and when I watch it, those problems would never ever happen in real life. Even no problems at all is more realistic than this crap, because it at least happens sometimes in real life, while ridiculous problems like noble idiocy never happen in a real relationship.
So yeah, ridiculous problems all the frikin time is one of the things that make the show worse. But there is another reason, a very surprising one that makes the show worse. But to explain it I have to say spoilers, so Ill write it in response to this comment with spoiler tags.
Again, the show has amazing things, the leads and their chemistry, which is VERY important in a romance. It is a pleasure to watch them interact, even when they arent a couple. So Im not saying it is a bad show. Im just saying it has very good things and very bad things. I think I will give it a 7.5 rating, which is the lowest score I give to shows while still reommending watching them.
Id love to see these 2 leads doing a drama from other scriptwriters who dont rejoice in creating absurd problems.
Just started, but I feel a bit uneasy about it. Looks like it will have a bad and long breakup
I like some of those shows you mentioned. Not saying I dont like this one, just that I would prefer it without some crap it has.
And again, problems don't equal real life. Sure, in real life there are problems unlike in lighthearted dramas. But when the problems are totally the contrary as of how real people would act, then no problems is more real than fake problems.
Just started, but I feel a bit uneasy about it. Looks like it will have a bad and long breakup
It is quite important. Im not the only one looking for dramas without breakup. I chat with a lot of people who look for dramas with happy ending, no breakup, no annoying love triangles, and such things.
This is 100% a breakup. What you call "but their story is so complicated" is what happens in 99% of every drama breakup. They never breakup like in real life. In every drama there is a reason to breakup when they really still love eatchother. This breakup is nothing special, its the 101 of drama breakups.
Now Im not sayiong I wouldnt have watched the show. I didnt start the show for months because of this, but I was finally convinced to watch it despite the breakup. It was just wierd to then read a comment saying they dont break up.
About the show, their chemistry is amazing, and I love both leads. But the show has many many annoying things. Im not sure yet how I will rate it. Well and I still have almost half the show left, so lets see
Just started, but I feel a bit uneasy about it. Looks like it will have a bad and long breakup
Ok, I finally watched those episodes. No, you can't call everything a matter of opinion. Did he go to jail? Yes, he did, it's not a matter of opinion. Same as the break up. You may say: "he broke up with her while still loving her". Of course he did. But you can't say "he did not break up with her" same as you can't say "he didnt go to jail". He just did both.
Bear in mind that the show and their relationship is wonderful. If I would have read this recap, I may not have…
I don't mean it wasn't angsty for ML. it wasn't angry for us watchers, since it was very short. sure, it lasted a couple years for them, but we saw the reconciliation right after the breakup. we didn't see them for several episodes away and had to endure the sadness of those episodes. that's what I meant.
I can see ML did more for their relationship than FL, but still, she was amazing. she had 0 problems admitting she did something wrong and apologizing for it every time she did something, and that is pretty special in dramas. not just about the breakup, but also about several other details
I don't quite see the comparation with her private life. I think these 2 shows have nothing in common
Bear in mind that the show and their relationship is wonderful. If I would have read this recap, I may not have…
you couldn't be more wrong. I am a guy and I am so sad of shows focusing on girls guilty pleasure. you see it as FL harming FL, I see it as FINALLY a show showing FL finally being the one doing something wrong, when it is always ML in other shows. not only that, but FL admits she did wrong and apologizes, which never happens in these dramas
What are you talking about? The 3 years later takes you back to the present where the drama started. The 3 years…
I don't see the separation and imprisonment as an interesting thing. I had this show on my not watch list because of that. I'm watching it despite that, not because of that
What are you talking about? The 3 years later takes you back to the present where the drama started. The 3 years…
yeah, well that's fine and all, but my problem right now, and I'm having a big problem continuing with episode 18, is I'm watching a 3 year old couple, when 15 min ago I just saw them get together. I don't want to watch a 3 year old relationship, I want to see the honeymoon phase of the leads I have been dying to finally see together after 18 episodes of seeing their daily life. I'm really baffled as to how a romance show can skip from flirting to a 3 year old relationship in 20 seconds, skipping all the good things...
What are you talking about? The 3 years later takes you back to the present where the drama started. The 3 years…
No. Episode 18, they get together in the park, image fades out, "3 years later" And the show resumes when they are taking their final college exam. It friking skipped the best part of a romance.
what the hell, I dont want to see them as a 3 year couple when I havent seen a SINGLE scene of them as a new couple. It's crazy to do this in a romance.
I have endured 18 episodes of quite some trouble, and they finally get together. So Im happy about watching some sweet episodes.... in the same scene they get together we get a fade out and a message.... "3 years later".
Are you kidding me? The period after the get together is the best in romances, and they just skip 100% of it???
Im on episode 11 right now. I can understand both the viewers who liked it a lot and the viewers who dlsliked it a lot.
It is interesting, has great leads, has cute scenes, fun scenes... it is very enjoyable... And at the same time, it has noble idiocy, breakups, misscomunication, jealousy... it is very annoying.
So yeah, it is both good and annoying, the mixed reviews make sense now
Just started, but I feel a bit uneasy about it. Looks like it will have a bad and long breakup
it's not about opinion. show anybody their relationship in the first episodes and ask them if they are a couple or not. still liking each other in secret doesn't make 2 person's a couple. they are not seeing each other, they know nothing about the other one, they live in different countries, one even thinks the other one likes somebody else. how is that not having broken up. it's plain ridiculous to state that.
hey, there's hundreds of dramas where they break up. I'm not shitting on this one because they also do. I'm just astounded somebody would say the never break up... that's crazy. you don't have to specifically say "we break up" for breaking up
and yes, I still haven't seen that part. but having seen the first episodes, unless there's some complicated plan where they act so Infront of the others but secretly communicate between them and are still together but act as if not, there's no way it's going to change when I reach that point
Just started, but I feel a bit uneasy about it. Looks like it will have a bad and long breakup
I won't argue 100% because I haven't seen that part yet, only a small flashback. but it totally looks he tells her to go away because he doesn't like her. of course its not true, he does it for noble idiocy, but that doesn't mean he is not breaking up with her.
also, you can imagine in your head whatever makes you feel better, but when the show starts, they are not a couple. that is 100% a breakup no matter how you try to justify it. still having feelings for each other happens in 100% of drama breakups.
your review and recap are the best thing of this sitehelp a lot :Dyou are great xDthanks
Glad to help. Im sad this site doesnt give you a link to all the posts of yourself or from another profile like every simlar wesbite does. I cant check my past comments
of course it changes in other genres
