PLEASE DON’T READ IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN EPS 15 / 16 (not spoiler tagging bcus i want to see what others think too)
at first i found it hard to agree with people who were being overly critical of sanwon’s relationship, but by ep 15 and halfway through 16 when seeing the reaction of their family and peers, i think that’s when it hit me that the writing felt a bit lazy. sanha’s dad — just happy to be there (which is fine, he’s always been hands-off) juwon’s father — had the most reasonable reaction, worrying about a realistic problem like the possibility of them breaking up and losing each other for good, both as ‘siblings’ & lovers (that’s when their relationship felt murky to me too) the ahjumma — she always be yapping 💀 honestly one of the most annoying characters since she exists sheerly as a plot device the doctor / hs friends — barely any reaction beyond what they showed, but i know its bcus the plot/runtime can’t fit shock/disgust
i think putting myself in the shoes of their immediate family and peers, especially those who raised them made me think that it started to feel contrived. also, that’s when i noticed a lack of effort from Juwon’s end to express her feelings, but i also chalked it up to the way her personality as an adult is mostly reserved and less silly.
i’m not saying Sanwon is one-sided, but definitely not as natural, especially when they pulled the Its Okay to Not Be Okay reference and made Juwon profess her feelings, it really didn’t feel like she had thought it over that much? i thought at most she had shown being flustered and liking him, but kind of in a puppy love way and not a devotion way— after 10 years though i give them the benefit of the doubt since they had started anew as lovers.
i’m still watching ep 16, and i know the goal is leaning toward their approval, but all i’m seeing now is what felt like a slightly weak transition from the found family to lovers dynamic. i definitely see the gripes about it, and some parts of their chemistry felt hard to watch too, but i know what they have is love. i hope that all makes sense. i love this show and the emotions i felt, it was lovely.
wait so the first kidnapper failed and just let her go right? and then she took the role of the kidnapper hoping…
dang by ep 2 i was so confused... i couldn't even tell if that lady was her biological mom (it didn't seem like it by their relationship, especially how the father was estranged...?)
i think this show is just ok.... is it just me? the cinematography is great, the plot is just kinda obnoxious.…
whats so good about a man who is POSSESSIVE without a reason, especially when the wife feels neglected and like he doesnt care? maybe the trope is just not great to me, i'm sure it will be revealed through backstories and thats what drives the plots interest, but im like, so baffled. everyone seems to treat her like shit except her old acquaintance

wait so the first kidnapper failed and just let her go right? and then she took the role of the kidnapper hoping to earn the affection of her pos husband? maybe they'll explain in ep 2, i just don't get why he treats her like shit
