For those who are deciding whether to watch this or not, this does not have the same plot as the popular dramas with the same setting being compared to it at all.
The acting performance is great and the cast chemistry including the supporting actors and actresses is natural. This is a slice-of-life drama, so of course this is more character driven, and the first few episodes mostly set the stage and introduce the characters. And others find that boring, so if that doesn't sound interesting to you, then this might not be for you.
I'm the type of viewer who will only tune in if I care about the characters, and so slice-of-life dramas are my go to. I just embrace the nostalgia and wonderful relationships presented in this genre. So to conclude, yes, this type of story is nothing new since it has been presented in Asian dramas for decades now. However, some new international viewers mainly discover dramas like this through Netflix and assume that the first one they watched sets the bar. Obviously, it doesn't work that way, so watch it on your own and decide. This is all about the director's execution and the writer's creativity to create magic out of the common or mundane.
If you've watched and liked Go Back Couple and Hi Bye Mama, then I believe you will trust the writer like I do.
Agree. I even started watching Paper Moon because of him, even though dramas about affairs are not my preference. For a young actor, he is actually quite talented.
I have to say this, honestly... It's bothering me how bad the actors are. Kim Youngdae is so stiff as always while…
Actually, I mentioned the same thing but the other way around. Historical part is worse for me since it's all about heavy emotions which they can't portray.
I know what you mean. When I first watched it while it was on the air, I dreaded the approach of the ending because…
Finding gems always feels that way. Thank you so much for all your hardwork! I've been learning Japanese on and off for years, but I'm still a beginner (and I even went on a trip to Japan), so your subs save us Jdorama fans!
This drama has the biggest and most frustrating flaw -- it's too good yet too short! It's been years since I felt this excitement when watching.
It felt like reading a page-turner novel. I want to know the ending already, but at the same time, I don't want to finish it yet and feel empty. To make it even better, everything made sense when I saw the writer of my all-time favorite drama, Love Shuffle, also made this show!
P.S. I also realized another interesting fact. Just like Love Shuffle had the classics "Eternal Flame" and "Fantasy" as its ost, this show did the same with "Bus Stop." Love the nostalgia.
Oh my god. That dance number caught me by surprise as if Byeong Tae was part of a Kpop band lol! They should really make Im Si Wan dance and sing more.
This drama is perfect, but if they add a Jannabi song during the romantic scenes, that would be the cherry on top!
Must have been a slow month with no news for reporters to swarm a photographer's house like she's some superstar…
I saw it more as her needing a break by running away since it was problem after problem coming at her all at once. For instance, the car scene where she was shown pretending to be unaffected was definitely the first sign of the cracks. Also, the part where she was drinking alone in the bar was her realizing how she wasn't in a place in her life where she wanted to be in despite all the success. Of course, the final straw was the suicide attempt.
Any good person, whether they're guilty or not, will start mentally getting affected by a big incident like that. In other words, she had a mental breakdown. This is coming from a person who had the same experience since I saw the exact same signs -- 1. denial 2. awareness 3. anger 4. regret 5. sadness. Eventually, there will be acceptance followed by recovery.
Wow I honestly forgot that it has started airing I even ignored Netflix's reminder 😂😂Glad I did cuz judging…
I say try it for yourself. If you like slice-of-life dramas then you know what to expect. Majority of the negative comments don't and are comparing it to a completely different drama, My Demon. And this is not a mainstream drama like that one anyway -- acting, setting, and plot are just two opposite worlds.
I see you like Liberation Notes like me, so if we have similiar tastes, I think you'll like it. I'm enjoying this drama a lot more since the leads are equally showing good performance and everything is just natural -- the relationship and setting.
Bwahaha that meeting didn't disappoint at all. That was peak comedy and the second-hand embarrassment was strong lol. Hopefully, our leads will continue to be this funny together. I can just imagine how funny their relationship were.
his acting is good tho? are we even watching the same drama? 🤣
I agree. Navillera is his best role yet. He should've kept doing slice-of-life roles to improve his skills. I'm sure working veterans helped him a lot too. This type of drama could've been a future role instead.
This drama is a contradiction. The packaging make it seem like a junk food, but it actually has some healthy content.
On the surface, it seems to be a story about a naive girl being taken advantage of a womanizer. No, both parties are aware that this is just simply a relationship with benefits. The fl is doing this for her work, and the boy, well, the sexy time, but I'm sure there's more to it and that's the mystery.
In other words, it's not as simple and shallow like usual for dramas like this. I recommend giving it a chance.
By the way, I love that the guy is obviously more into her than the other way around. No tsundere here.
Your assessment of KYD is accurate. The blank stares instead of coming across as intense were more like I imagine…
Exactly! I actually almost didn't watch this when I saw the stills for his historical scenes because he only had one facial expression. That said a lot already since I imagined him in action would be worse.
