If you hate Eita here, I highly recommend Saikou no Rikon as he is more likable there. Plus, it is the opposite of the case in this show where we're all frustrated and wishing that the couples here just divorce. The show is literally translated as The Best Divorce.
We like Makoto because he actually brings something valuable to the table. Yoichi, on the other hand, lacks motivation…
You have a point about how Makoto is the ideal guy, especially if you compare him to Yoichi. But despite Yoichi's flaws, Michi likes him for all he is. After all they've been together for a while before they even got married. So his personality and career are not really big concerns to Michi since those are what she likes about him. From what we've seen so far, their relationship would've most likely been fine if they didn't have a sexless marriage. They do enjoy each other's company like bestfriends and lovers at the same time.
I think I finally understand why I and the other watchers somehow like Michi and Makoto together. Well, in my case, I like their scenes together, but I don't know about them actually ending up together. Yes, part of the reason is the 2 leads are giving stellar performances and have great chemistry, but also, I realized the obvious -- the perspectives here are mainly from those 2 leads and not all 4 leads.
That's why, we are kinda forced to be put into Makoto's and Michi's shoes. And of course, just like all people in the world, we are the leads of our own lives. We always try to put everything in our favor, so we rationalize situations by having that mentality. This is the only thing that I don't like about the show. We don't really see the other spouses' perspectives enough since they don't have equal screen time. I thought all 4 are main leads.
I have to add though, that I like how episode 6 kinda acknowledges this subjectiveness of the show. Michi is blinded by the betrayal when she herself commited the same mistake and is no better.
Haha I love it. It's so ridiculous. But with Jdoramas, the more ridiculous it is, the better.
I lost it when the brothers started dancing and singing on stage with their Hawaiian shirts lol. When are you going to see a stellar cast like this with great chemistry in one show again?
ikrI wish tv shows here in the US was this good well it is but only with the streaming servicesregular network…
You might want to check out Sherlock and Peaky Blinders since those are just simply one of the best shows I ever watched. I'm in America, and you can't even compare British shows. Haven't watched any American series in probably, 10 years lol.
uh no, it's a medical drama first and foremost so if those aren't your thing .....
Well, I watched a couple of medical dramas in the past, but they're more like, mix genre with just medical in the background. Hospital Playlist is one of my top dramas.
The creators finally outdid themselves. When they incorporated the ghost game, I thought they couldn't be more creative than that. But boy, the ending slapped me in the face and proved me wrong since my jaw dropped and started slow clapping. Love that it's getting more unpredictable now from here, and I'm just excited for the ride.
This is a strong contender for one of the best 2023 shows for sure.
The actress is indeed a tad green. However, I'm personally sooo happy we got to see some combat skills, determination,…
That's a good point that he is someone's number one priority now. I love that he is not instantly falling in love with the girl and drastically changing because of her. Episode 6 shows that he's definitely becoming more curious and interested in her and the piano scene showcases that really well. Those gazes he was giving her is definitely not the loving ones yet, but more of finding something new and getting interested. Very in line with his character since after all, he still has a lot of growing up to do and still has a jaded view of the world.
The girl is definitely a nice contrast since she's so in awe and curious about the world. Man, they need their own drama lol.
It all started with Ichika being open about her feelings but then took it back shortly after. Amane got disappointed…
Now, I feel like we have a little book (Jdorama in this case) study club haha.
I didn't notice those details in the hotel scene. That's an interesting insight, especially since this drama is set in an era and culture where women have limited rights and limited roles they could take. I'm glad we all have different details we noticed. Different perspectives make this drama so interesting!
Are you mentioning the latest episode at the end of your post? I don't remember he confessed since I haven't watched the latest episode yet. If that's the case, I'm so excited to watch it now!
By the way, I want to continue this awesome discussion with all of you until the end of the drama!
People don't like the mermaid for him, what? that's the best that has happened to our Lee Rang, he needs a love…
Yeah, they were saying the actress is still green and the character is not as interesting compared to the leads. I see their point though, but she doesn't have as much screentime yet.
I can't get enough of Rang! Kim Bum is just playing the role too well. I know some people don't like the mermaid as his partner, but I'll just be happy whenever he becomes close to somebody.
I just finished S1, and I was only able to, thanks to Rang and the little family he built.
