hmm i can't remember exact episode numbers or details but due to certain circumstances when the sees her in the future she tells him to break up with her in the past which creates some angst. the crux of the story is that he disappears at one point due to time travel, which is the main source of angst and they do separate for a while

i hope so as well! i've seen some mainstream kdramas add an lgbt character here and there but it has still been very lowkey and they often weren't able to get their own romance or ending (nevertheless did a great job, but for example love in contract had a gay character they didn't really do anything with - but still refreshing that they had a character just be gay i guess? another example is she would never know doing a very oldschool closeted husband plot, but ultimately skr never told those stories in the mainstream. my disappointment was hometown cha cha cha not doing a very obvious sapphic romance sadly but they had a lesbian character etc. be melodramatic did as well as they could for the time imo). still i hope more and more shows start embracing these stories even in the sidelines, but especially as proper stories in a mainstream serious high-budget show. the audience is there!

if you want to see more of sungjae i recommend mystic pop-up bar and golden spoon! the first one is very wholesome fantasy, one of my favorites :)

i really don't understand where y'all are getting these very extreme reads about his age, stuff he hasn't even said. imo it's normal that he's expressing some emotions over it as 1) he literally had a life-threatening condition which can just happen. he could have gotten his intestines twisted in multiple ways. and 2) he's been most known for taking on very action-heavy roles. i used to do dance - all of my coaches had back issues and ruptured discs by 40. my friend who did judo most of his life has barely working knees at 26. your unhealthy lifestyle in the entertainment industry seems to be implying substances when it's just a man doing a job and feeling the repercussions of it - just how a construction worker feels it, or my dad who did sports events and worked on radio has much shittier hearing at his age than someone else would.

he literally was though.. them being hurt by him was a canon event in every single timeline yet in this one they just miraculously don't get hurt... he escapes captivity, escapes prison, is always a threat to them specifically, yet suddenly a lil car crash stops him. it makes no sense. it's stupid to build up half your show like a thriller then absolutely drop the ball with four episodes to go. also he tried to kidnap his fan... when in a timeline sol is mistaken for the fan... i'm sorry but with any explanation the math does not math!

in the context of public figures "poor" doesn't need to equate to starving - it's more about the expectations of wealth and them making mayhaps an average office worker income. if he was renting a one bedroom apartment eating ramen a few times a week he could have definitely considered himself "poor".

but also, you wrongly presume he would have gotten paid a lot of money. just bc he's billed as a lead in 2013 doesn't mean he would have been getting as much as say, kim jaewook as a lead in 2013. a western example as a comparative: both anne hathaway and her male costar were LEADS of her recent romcom - she got 7 million dollars. he got 400 thousand. you're also looking at when those movies AIRED not when they were filmed. he could have had steady releases but gone without a job for months. again, for comparison, that same movie was filmed in 2022. it didn't release until 2024. did he have advertisements? was he doing variety? winning awards? a household name?

not to mention if you get paid maybe in the range of 50-100k or even 200-500k, you have to pay taxes, your agents and managers take a cut, you pay your stylist per look, need to pay hair and make up, not to mention gyms, trainers, supplements, any type of treatments, etc. getting let's say 50k for three months of filming and god knows how many more months of finding a job before that and after, it basically comes down to basic annual income, or making ends meat. an actress actually broke down how much money she made off a 22ep per season show that lasted about 5 or so seasons. it was in the end less than what someone with a 9-5 would bring in. she was working 14hr days. if we compare that, he definitely would not have been a catch.

1) they do 2) it's not my first kdrama nor my first time seeing fatphobia in a kdrama 3) just bc that's part of their social norms doesn't mean it's right. some cultures were cannibals and we don't sit here saying "that's how they are".
