Somehow I lost this drama from my Watchlist. Due to 'Tastefully Yours' I was reminded that I missed watching one of the Kang Ha Neul's drama. Hoping it will be good!

As always, Kang Ha Neul never disappoints.

I doubt that as they have already shown episode 2 from FL's perspective. They would have revealed something in that monologue.

The only limitation I see after watching 4 episodes would be no ML-FL interaction till now. Moreover, it just has 10 episodes.

This is probably the best mystery kdrama I've seen.

This drama is one of the most well-researched and well-made drama.

If we get pass the 2 wrongdoings of S2 (abrupt ending and lower intensity of games), I'm compelled to say that S2 is better than S1.

This drama's main selling point would be ML's role as King. He is portrayed as an intelligent, solemn and calculative king. Compassionate too.

A good chunk of time goes into the palace's political life. So, if you are only looking for ML-FL story, you would get it almost sufficiently, but it's gets slightly overshadowed by political life.

As an avid lover of strong and stoic characters, I really enjoyed the ML's role. Moreover, Jo Jung Suk can really play these types of characters well.

Year 2024 started with 'Captivating the King' and ended with 'When the Phone Rings'.
I would say it was a good year for KDrama-Watchers.

Tad bit longer. They could've wrapped it up in 16 episodes. First half is better than second half.
