I feel like you (I'm a novel reader); I was a bit disappointed with episodes 1-5 of the adaptation drama. One point I can't accept is that He Yan, in her own body, cannot hold the bow. That doesn’t make sense, as she is already an elite soldier and is familiar with all the equipment. In the novel, she wasn’t in her own body; that’s why she was weak and had to train hard to use the bow.The intro of this drama was not quite good, I cried so hard while reading novel the part when she was poisioned and became blind, also when she lost her child and drowned but the drama was quite fast , I watched it without notice that they have already done for the intro part.


However, the next episode is quite good, and I've become accustomed to this adaptation as if I’m watching a new drama, not one based on the same novel. I really want them to follow the novel 100%, but they can’t give us that due to the restrictions of censorship in China. He didn’t fall for her appearance; he fell for her intelligence, ability, strategy, energy, kindness, and her unstoppable striving for life and revenge.

I forgot He Yan's brother's name. In the original novel, Song Tao Tao married He Yan's little brother.
