and I like to take it that the sun/light (xi guang) is like a symbol of fate here. everyone has their own light, as everyone has their own fate. but wether we're going to pursue it or not, or just letting it slipped within our grasp, it's all depend on us.

and lin yusen is like a photovoltaic himself. he received the sunlight and he turned it into energy called electricity.

when someone came into your life, it was fate that brought you to meet them. but wether you'd end up as the main lead in their life, or just a supporting lead, or only as a guest role, it would be depend on whether or not you choose to accept it or to let it go.

both nie xiguang and lin yusen are actually photovoltaics. they choose to embrace their light, they don't waste the opportunity. but I specifically mentioned lin yusen just to highlight the comparison because someone else is in a complete disarray because he ignored the sunlight numerous times. while thinking about this analogy, if I were the writer I'd make the SML to suffer from vitamin D deficiency.

he's so kind to other people but he doesn't respect her :( because she confessed to him once, he feels so entitled of her that he thought he has the right to treat her that way.

he needs to reflect on how he had been treating her and to fix his inner conflicts for the sake of himself. it looks like he had a hard time to process everything and he took it on her.

sometimes human interactions are weird. like they can be so good even to strangers. but they treat someone closer to them cruelly.

anytime!maybe when Rong/her family helped his family they talked about their intention to match both of them. but it wasn't like they did it officially.it was just that their families were in a good relationship and they gladly helped each other. since both families had tacit understanding that their son and daughter must be a match anyway.but if if they're not together, I don't think SML technically owes her anything.

her mother talked about Rong. in her eyes Rong was smart and dependable, both of them grew up together. her mother thought that SML and Rong were on the similar level of economic background and since both of them got along so well, naturally she thought that they were a perfect match made in heaven.

ml told her mom to stop talking because he couldn't directly refused her request and told her that there was someone beyond their level in his heart (FL).

I just realised they really use a good analogy for the title. the title has double meanings. shine on me as you light up my life. and shine on me because literally the sun shines on me and it's important to highlight as they work in the solar plants.

a good son, a good father, a good brother, a good friend, a good relative, a good classmate, a good neighbour, a good coworker, a good lecturer, a good stranger, etc they could be an as* hole for their romantic partner but we wouldn't always know that.

*this applies to all genders

a good man who volunteered to take care of his sick friend has a gold of heart. the same man who humiliated someone he likes, not making her feel secure, judging her without having a second thought is a big red flag to me.

in reality a red flag guy shouldn't always someone who abuse a servant for a minor mistake. they could be a softie respectable family man, and still be a bad boyfriend/husband.

red flag people aren't always those with fangs and horn, they could look and behave like angels and still being red flags. maybe they don't even realise it themselves.

when he no longer purused the matter even when he thought it was her, wasn't he defeated his own ego? it's like the one in front of her mattered more than his inner conflicts. he had the right to be angry if it was really her, but he didn't. even if he wasn't mad anymore, he had the right to ask her. but he preferred to move forward. that was a selfless move.

meanwhile ML was so selfless. later he gave in, he defeated his ego even when he misunderstood her.

the way I see it, for SML, love is like a noun. and for the ML, love is a verb.

right! ML didn't quick making his judgement. he questioned why someone in front of him seemed so different from the version of her in his memory. what ML had been through was something that turned his life upside down meanwhile SML only heard rumours about FL from her childhood sweetheart through his little brother and he already made assumptions about her.
