It's unfortunate but it was just a very competitive year and the drama's timing was off (but at the risk of being non-diplomatic, there were two performances whose nominations got me scratching my head). I think she has a better shot at nominations or even winning with a serious, female-centric role. All eyes will be on her next project. As for Kim Taeri's snub, maybe it's because they wanted to give others a chance? Considering she acts in purely prestige dramas and will probably win for Jeongnyeon next year?

FFMW was a good choice but Arthdal badly derailed her momentum even though a lot of us fans thought it would propel her into a higher league. Hmmm in retrospect I guess even a romcom with a lot of fan service would have been better haha. On Twitter I’m hearing rumblings of her new project, some claim that it is super high profile, not in the Hallyu sense, but in the prestige sense. Only rumors so should be taken with a grain of salt. Nevertheless would be so happy if she could work with a renowned auteur or in a gritty Netflix original! One can only hope! Haha

As a fan since 2018, her laid back approach can be a bit frustrating especially as I’ve seen other actors just leap and soar from a single breakout role, so it feels like she’s letting go of good opportunities. But I get it because the industry is cut throat and it’s important to be grounded. But the fan in me is still selfish, haha, especially when I see how prolific some other actors are. Anyway, I hope QOT, while not my cup of tea, lands her in the A list and she receives the best scripts! Hopefully her next is strictly non romance cause I’ve had it with the shippers and the anti fans, haha

This!! JDY is an institution in herself, literally one of the best actresses in the world, so I would actually like it if KJW were to take secondary roles in front of actors like JDY, Youn Yuhjung, Song Kangho, Choi Minshik, Sol Kyungku, Park Hae Il, etc. The supporting cast is also goated, so perhaps the quality is good unlike what I assumed earlier. I get that KJW likes her long breaks but this was a once in a lifetime opportunity for her and she needs to capitalize on her popularity anyway! Sorry for the rant haha

Am I the only one who thinks the leads have really good chemistry with each other? It’s a surprise they didn’t work together afterwards, seeing that TW media loves recycling pairs, and this one was from the most popular drama. Would love to see them together as romantic leads again in the near future.

Hahaha yes…he looks like a live action Shin Chan 😂 His expressions in the kidnapping episode were priceless. It’s a shame he didn’t do many comedy roles after, haha.

He does remind me of Armando at some points, haha, as well as the MLs of Goong and My Name is Kim Samsoon. But IDK, I still feel like he’s a deeply flawed, but misunderstood character. I think the reason I’m able to root for him in spite of his douchebag behavior is that he does show signs of remorse and change and that his douchebaggery isn’t driven by malice. And I think he is more of an overgrown, spoiled child rather than a fuckboy. I like him slightly more than the ML of It Started With a Kiss because he learns to be genuinely appreciative of his wife. As for the ML of the Korean remake, hmmm yes, overall, Lee Gun was better but I don’t think deliberately telling your loved one such a big lie and breaking her heart in the guise of protecting her is an admirable quality. As for Cunxi, he is deeply flawed, but I don’t think his love for FL is 100% remorse. He had started to fall in love with her around episode 8 or 9, when she was pregnant and they were living together. Around the beginning of episode 10, he seems so in love, but of course the arrival of 2FL, her emotional manipulation and bad advice from the shallow assistant make him confused. When he re-encounters FL, he has a sense of mischief and spontaneity which I don’t think would’ve been present had his love been driven purely by remorse. As for Anna, I think it was an infatuation, a long-standing one, but ultimately just an infatuation . If he loved Anna, I think they would have returned to their relationship pre-cruise incident, but ML just seemed so bored and checked out around her, so he had obviously fallen out of love. I think by the time the series ends, he does truly love FL and they live a happy life together. I will agree that the writing could’ve have been much much better and consistent. Sometimes writers forget that for a romance to work, we have to root for both leads. By making the FL so pitiable, they did a disservice to the love story. I rooted for both of them but that was primarily because I could understand some of the bad behavior from the ML, not justified by any means, but I could see where he was coming from, and because I thought the leads had excellent chemistry with each other and very little with 2LS.

Exactly lol. Well I have my theory, which is that it was because the actress Bianca Bai is the daughter of a prominent PD in Taiwan. Also, the drama was super successful so they decided to drag it and of course that could only be done by still keeping the annoying 2FL and the cringe TW idol humor instead of having the OTP spend time and have meaningful conversations with each other lol. Or if they wanted to keep the 2FL, at least make her apologize to the FL. Lol I don’t even think that bish apologized to FL. I would’ve liked her more had she been a conventional vamp but the way they tried to humanize her seeing she takes her zero accountability for her actions and just constantly self pities and self-victimizes and guilt trips everytime instead of owning up to her mistakes was plain bizarre. Like I said, nepotism and favoritism had to be involved. Like girl if you felt so bad for what you did, you should’ve confessed to the ML instead of pretending to be understanding and pitiful in front of the ML. Heck even after ML discovers her culpability she has the audacity to blame him and FL. In conclusion, from a writing perspective, the only way her ending makes sense is that it’s because she’s an expert at emotional manipulation, guilt tripping and weaponizing her deep-seated mommy issues. Sorry for the rant haha.

Would’ve loved to see Choi Wooshik as the ML opposite her with perhaps the PD of Strangers from Hell!

Kim Yoojung is doing that role. Tbh, I’m not too sad KJW isn’t doing that role. Not a big fan of the PD, and the less said about the male lead, the better.

Yeah it’s a pity how easy SFL got off for her abhorrent behavior. To my shock, on Chinese SM, she’s actually quite pitied and thought of as a boss bitch. Lmao Anna becomes a world famous super model in the epilogue, I think? Feel like one of the writers was super in love with her or something. Most logical explanation would be that 2FL actress is a prominent nepo baby, so they didn’t want to ruffle feathers. In my country, evil 2FLs either lose their bodily functions or go crazy. I usually hate that because it’s such a misogynistic trope, but here I was praying something like that’d happen lol.

He’s written as an obnoxious, entitled man baby, but I don’t think he loves Anna as much or more than FL. Remember he had been with Anna for almost 5 years and felt guilty for making her lose her dancing career. Throughout the separation it’s obvious he really misses and pines for FL and is just going through the relationship like a robot. Even before he finds out, he wants to escape that relationship but he has no hope of reuniting with the FL and Anna guilt trips him and his assistant is a bad influence. I think if the FL had given him an indication that she was ready to reunite, he would’ve left Anna immediately. And I do think they could’ve removed the part where he goes to help her after she drowns herself or something, but it makes sense in retrospect.

Kwak Dongyeon should've been nominated for sure! He's so talented! I think she may win if her next work is something that has a "serious" subject matter and revolves mainly around her character. Most of the nominees this year were from female-centric dramas. I just hope she doesn't take too long before signing something new.

Indeed, I guess TVN really fumbled the airing date, they had delayed it so much so a delay of three more weeks would've made sure their flagship drama would have been nominated or even won. But I think KJW can leverage the hype from QOT and get really good roles and get nominations and even win in the near future!!
