It was high risk, high reward. In this case, the risk didn't pay off. The directing and aesthetic choices were off. The budget was colossal but I think the highest rating was 7.7%. It was a period piece, so they couldn't do product placements either. Their best bet was getting 20%-30% and that didn't happen. If it actually were a success, I'm pretty sure Jiwon would've received better offers after it. There's a high chance of career setbacks if you're associated with a project that doesn't do well/isn't well-received.
Ikr! She makes me sleepy everytime she's on screen 😴
Yet you still felt the need to come here and grace this page with your opinion. Nothing I did indicated I am a blind fan. But you do seem like an irritant who wants to seem edgy. Bet you're a fan of the actress who passed on a role or a former co-star of the male lead in her drama. You should go and wax lyrical about them on their pages instead.
China will not cast korean actors....they have banned itBut they can do a remakeLandy Li series.....ml has ALS....a…
Agreed. Subtle acting is harder to do. That's why I really liked Lily Gladstone and Sandra Huller in Killers of the Flower Moon and Anatomy of a Fall and was disappointed when Emma Stone won. Hope someday in the future Jiwon can achieve that level of acting. She's on the right track.
Which genres, screenwriters and directors would you like Jiwon to work in/with in her next project?
My choices: Thriller w/o romance Netflix original (hopefully she can somehow return to the project w/Jeon Doyeon) Female-centric buddy pure comedy (no romance) (w/ Park Eunbin, screenwriter Park Yeonsun) Intense classical melodrama (screenwiter Lee Kyunghee) Slice of life
Kim Ji Won is my favourite actress and I love the scripts and roles she picks. I’m just so confused how a lot…
I think she was the first choice for MLN, which was her best role in my opinion. She was the 2nd choice in some dramas that turned out to be hits like FFMW and QOT. Honestly, I think she fits the QOT role really well, much better than the OG choice IU. Shin Sekyung was the first choice for Tanya in Arthdal and ironically she ended up playing Tanya after all. Wish SSK would've played Tanya in the first season, as it did nothing for Jiwon's career, if anything, it derailed her rise. I think after QOT, she will be the first choice for interesting roles.
Wow, Ethan has come a long way in acting. He always had raw talent but TW idol dramas require diabolical levels of overacting. It's great he went into movies and refined his talent, Hope to see him in more great roles!

And some biased people still have the audacity to call her underwhelming or limited! Whatever...I second your opinions. Would love to see her in movies or even Chinese dramas one day. Hopefully many great roles await her in the future.
wdym The only good role she got was like in little women and yumi cells other than that she had terrible roles…
All of her movies: A Muse (debatable, but she got acclaim), Coin Locker Girl, Canola, Sunset in My Hometown, Tune in For Love, Exhuma, all good roles with depth and scope for performance. Her character in Cheese in the Trap was also a great role with complexity regardless of the quality of the drama itself.
So IU Reject this drama bcs Hong haein's char , really looks like another Jang manwol or jmw 2.0 lmao👏👏…
Characters such as Hong Hae-in have been present in Korean media before Jang Manwol and will continue to be there after Jang Manwol. JMW herself was a cheap version of Jun Jihyun's characters, so no wonder JJH didn't do the role when offered to her. Also, KJW played a similar character herself in Heirs in 2013, long before Hotel de Luna.
Also, both Seo Yeji and Kim Jiwon can act better than IU, in spite of all of IU's idol privileges :) :)
I think he was the first person to be casted, in the role played by Yoo Teo. Wonder if he left on his own or if he didn't fit the direction's vision for the role. Yoo Teo was awesome and I can't really imagine CWS having chemistry with Greta Lee so no complaints but would've been interesting to see CWS in the role, what he could've done with it.
Yes, I'm really bummed Kim Jiwon isn't in it...working with Jeon Doyeon is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and…
That seems to be the case. Also, lots of movie stars are in TV these days? Like Choi Minsik, Song Kangho and Sol Kyungku all have dramas lined up. I feel like kmovies didn't really take off globally like kpop and kdramas? Which is a shame because they tend to be quite creative artistically.
Mmmm...why have 3 top actress has passed this up....
Yeah...it seemed promising considering the directors. I don't think it's because of a WLW storyline, because I can definitely see Han Sohee doing a WLW (if I remember correctly, she finished a WLW indie movie), she doesn't shy away from selecting scripts that may be bolder, unlike Song Hyekyo and Kim Jiwon who seem rather conservative.
She is so talented and adorable. She was such a ray of sunshine in Strangers From Hell. I'm really happy My Dearest was a success! I hope she gets nominated for Baeksang.
I hope we get a new casting announcement soon, and I really really really hope it isn't a modern romance. Wish she would do a classic sageuk like My Dearest or The Red Sleeve or a female-centric project like Little Women. I'm so bummed she turned down Price of Confession. It would have been the perfect follow-up to Queen of Tears. Oh well...
