All that interests me of this batch is Ghost Seeing Detective Cheo Yong (which I've been waiting for since it was initially scheduled for, what was it, last fall?). Oh Ji Ho, say no more...

I've been kinda bored with K-dramas lately but this is a big exception. I really look forward to each week's new episode (plus the fact that it's only one episode per week helps).

Man, I loved Soratobu Kouhoushitsu from ep.01...

Anyway, Biblia Koshodou no Jiken Techou was already on my list to watch someday, but Mahoro Ekimae Bangaichi passed under my radar completely.

Title Hard Nut!
As I watched the last ep I kept my eye on the time elapsed at the bottom of the player and I thought, "How in the world are they going to wrap this up in the 15 minutes left?" There's gotta be a second season (or even a Special or feature film or anything, really) coming after that ending, right?

Zoo is pretty good-- I'd say even if you don't enjoy horror, check out the animated segment (When the Sun Shines) which is more sci-fi than anything and honestly makes me cry every time I watch it. As for the horror segments, I thought Seven Rooms was the best-- a very young Kamiki Ryunosuke* plays the little brother in that one.

*Edit: Whoops, I remembered incorrectly! Kamiki Ryunosuke was the boy in So Far, the story with the parents who can't see one another.

My J-drama favorites for 2013 were Summer Nude and Soratobu Kouhoushitsu.

Say what you will about Yamapi's acting but I thought he was perfect in Summer Nude (perhaps due to the strong female cast-- Karina & Erika Toda-- that surrounded him). I guess Summer Nude was my "guilty pleasure" drama, though tbh I feel no guilt about it whatsoever; rather, I feel it's a very solid summer drama.

For favorite J-drama of 2013 though I had to be honest and pick Soratobu Kouhoushitsu. I adored all the characters and Ina-pyon's speech about: "No matter how many times you fail, even if you cannot become something you want to become, you can start over from where ever you want. Your life is not over there and then. Please think of every single encounter as a precious one."

...This speech really echoes with me and I'll probably remember it, fictional as it is, for the rest of my life.

Last year I could vote for only few Kdramas, because I focused on watching older ones....this year...Kdramas=no…
yeah, this is so obvious, and unfortunately makes the poll useless for someone like me who wants to find hidden gems that I may have overlooked. I wish there were a rule that you had to at least have watched, say, at least 5 jdramas to vote...

From a few (very cursory, in retrospect) plot synopses I'd read online, I thought this was going to be about a scam artist that starts to have trouble keeping all his stories straight-- kind of a light comedy. But this was soooo different from my expectation. Even though I didn't quite understand why all these things were happening I still found myself watching, fascinated in a "what in the world is going to happen next?!" sort of way.

I don't understand why people find this drama confusing. A bit at the beginning, yes, but it's both a mystery…
Chimai, I thought the exact same thing when I heard that some people thought it was confusing (not so much folks here, but elsewhere). Like were they expecting everything to be spelled out in the first episode or what? Seriously, my favorite thing about this show is speculating about what's going to happen and when something is revealed trying to figure out if it was foreshadowed in earlier episodes or what it means in relation to the story thus far-- i.e. the unfolding of the story is what makes it enjoyable.

In the beginning the trailer makes this look really sweet but as it progesses it starts to look like it might leave me sobbing by the end. So while I intend to watch it I feel nervous about it.

Anyone know where I can watch this?
Don't know if this helps but someone at d-addicts has been uploading torrents for RAW eps.01-06 and ep.07 now... I don't know Japanese but between the above plot synopsis and Kitamura Kazuki's acting it's not been too hard to follow so far at 2 eps (a lot of the dialogue is just his character's inner monologue so his body language relays the intent anyway).

I'm glad that Faith turned out to be the way it did cause I absolutely loved it! <3 I probably would've even…
I agree, I don't think I would've even watched the version of The Great Doctor/Faith that's shown in that trailer (also suffice it to say I don't give 2 sh*ts about something being filmed in 3D or whatever) so I'm actually really happy that Faith turned out how it did because I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Article The Dramatic Disease Spoiler
"But I really don’t like it when a disease is used as a last-minute plot twist for a dramatic ending."

Case in point: Single Dad in Love. I was loving it, reeeeeeeally loving it. In the beginning it's a pretty cute family/rom-com and then they add in the sick-child element, which is in itself enough to write a drama around; but then, well into the drama, suddenly the male lead ALSO gets a brain tumor and the last few eps are him coming to terms and trying to figure out a way to give custody of his son to his ex-wife and I was like WTF IS THIS, THIS IS NOT THE DRAMA I SIGNED UP FOR.

Add to this THAT ENDING (which I still don't understand-- were they actually deceiving the son by implying his dad was just off training [he's a boxer]? Were they ever going to tell him his dad actually died?) and this drama just makes me throw my hands up AAAAARRRHGHGH.

The only time I haven't rolled my eyes at amnesia (yes, even a little at I Hear Your Voice, which I still loved) is how it was used in Gift because instead of being a plot convenience it kind of drives the entire drama.

Judging from the above synopsis alone, I'm kinda hoping that Jang Geun Suk is actually the second lead and Lee Jang Woo ends up with the girl. That seems unlikely though, JGS being as big a name as he is and considering LJW doesn't even appear in the first trailer. I'm sure I'll warm up to it once I start watching though.

Title Miss Pilot
I started watching this on kind of a whim (not particularly a Horikita Maki fan) but I ended up really enjoying the first 3 eps. Of course it didn't hurt that out of nowhere Saito Takumi appeared (well okay, not "out of nowhere" but I didn't really follow the show or cast before it aired so I was pleasantly surprised). I kinda hope that, if there's a romance line to this drama (and I'm not even sure there will be), it's with him.

P.S. I even LIKE Aibu Saki's character in this for once (she kind of annoyed me in Zettai Kareshi and she's not exactly very nice for much of Buzzer Beat, so...)

at first I thought that it has nothing to do with me and I started to read this article out of pure curiosity…
Yep, it was Faith for me too. I was totally immersed in the story-- once I really got into it (around ep.06 or so) I didn't even watch any other dramas while it was airing, which is incredibly rare because I'm usually juggling several.

I have to say I'm a bit confused by the inclusion of Fukushi Sota as a "supporting" actor for Starman because he was the male lead. Same with Karina as "supporting" actress for Summer Nude.
